quick correction: what Damrada said was Rimuru can NEGOTIATE with Veldora. This is a part of the official story they concocted in S2, remember? 'Rimuru and Youm negotiated with Veldora to not destroy everything.' This is the story everyone knows. It was NOT their plan to make it seem like Veldora is in control as you seem to think. In the official story, Veldora has been negotiated with and then honored as a 'guardian deity.' So it is not impressive or a mystery that Damrada knows this. There is no traitor, this is the official story that was spread.

Of course, Rimuru can negotiate with Veldora. The fault lies in their idea that they can negotiate too, or make Youm and Rimuru do it. I don't know why they would think that Veldora has to listen to anyone just because he listened to someone once. Maybe because they think they can make Veldora listen, because weak people negotiated with him (meaning made him listen, meaning coerced him to do what they want). This would imply they think Veldora is weak too (also part of the official story). Surely they have the strength to make him listen, they might think. Negotiation is not usually advantageous to the weak.

I think Rimuru made a comment about the contents of the message he sent in a previous episode...... Remember that Reyhiem was killed and someone spread a rumor that a demon working for Rimuru killed him. That's why the Temple Knights, the organization tasked with protecting people from monsters. The unit of the Temple Knights who were stationed in Falmuth were the ones who accompanied the Falmuth army to Tempest. They are meant to be local troops in various countries. They are strong, but not as strong as the centrally-stationed Crusaders (aka Holy Knights, aka Paladins) and the Master Rooks. They are led by the 10 Great Saints. Hinata was originally part of the Crusaders only, then became their leader, then also took over the Master Rooks, displacing Saare from that position. All of them have units reporting to them. The Master Rook commanders are the Three Battlesages, Saare, Grigori, and Glenda. Compared to the Crusaders, they are a lot more undisciplined, but they are strong. The work for Lubelius. On the other side, there are six Crusaders plus Hinata. It looks like all of them headed for Tempest. The 10 Great Saints are all Enlightened. I think I explained about this last week? ...... The cloistered Emperor is Louis Valentine. ..... Hokuso is one of the male dragonewts that came to Tempest with Soka, and Rimuru named...... The goals of the Eastern Empire is no secret to anyone. Conquest. They have been that way for a very long time. They are pretty secretive but they conduct trade with the West. The Five Elders you saw are from the Western Nations. I would say that all they care about is money and power. They fear Rimuru because he will get in their way, and a few other reasons that will become clearer later, I think. I think they fear Hinata because she is strong and represents the Church and opposes injustice. Seltrozzo is the country where the Rozzo's come from, but the Elders come from other countries too. .... The group of Elders think that Rimuru will be too distracted or worried by Hinata's approach to spare troops for Youm. They almost say it a couple of times but it comes out too vague.

hahaha I wouldn't be so certain! maybe Damrada gets his hands on some certain sacred texts from a certain someone *wink wink nudge nudge* I think that would greatly increase his ability to negotiate with Veldora

Everything you say is very correct, but I would say the Eastern Empire is not explained very well yet in the anime, so I would say it is normal for anime onlys to not realize the threat they pose. As I recall, in the anime they have only been mentioned in passing and just referred to as something like 'the east' and 'that kingdom' back early in season 1. I would say this is one piece of world building and foreshadowing that the anime somewhat misses on.

jokes aside, we also have to keep in mind that while Damrada and the Rozzos are working together now, it is very clear that it is a temporary partnership and they will be enemies in the future. Him asserting that Veldora can be negotiated with might not be what he actually believes and he may possibly just be trying to implant false hope or confidence into the Rozzos that would cause them to trip up in the future. There are definitely those (like nobles in Falmuth as we see in S3E1) who mistakenly believe Veldora can be reasoned with now, but from the dialogue in the episode, I see no reason to think Damrada actually believes this.

Yes, I agree. I am now rereading Volume 12, and I haven't checked yet, but I think they revealed some things in that meeting prematurely, or too plainly and all at once. At the same time they don't do a good job making other things clear, like the Five Elders being from the Western Nations. For instance, it seemed they were trying to get you worried about the Eastern Empire's intentions, and not doing a good job of it, thus leading some people to think that it was some great secret that the Rozzo's were learning. Also, iirc, didn't Damrada say in the LN version, that he wasn't going to get involved with something they wanted him to do? Instead, the Rozzo's turned down his offer to help instead.

I didn't notice that Damrada's opinion was not expressed on that point. And I kind of wasn't specific enough in who I was referring to when I used "they". I guess I missed it the 6 times or so I already watched the episode, lol. But for the rest of your comment, see my reply down below.

I can't say for sure what I said is 100% correct but I formed that hypothesis based on speculation and also used a fun little line I remember from the LN. This meeting is our first true introduction to Damrada and at this time in the LN it is stated that "Damrada never lies, but often creates misunderstandings." (I am paraphrasing, I do not remember the exact verbiage). Ever since I read that line I have noticed that he often seems purposefully vague in his choice of words. I think they do a great job of conveying this subtle 'vagueness' in the anime but they do not really elaborate on it like they do in the LN, so it is easily missed.

hmmmm I'm not sure I remember exactly what you're referring to but that may be the case! Ooooh nice! So you're on Vol 12 now. Did Vol 11 and the beginning of 12 answer some of the questions you had in our discussion on the previous episode??? For the life of me, I cannot remember when certain details we discussed are revealed haha but I know there are some very important discussions in those volumes

and I shall just say, GOD DAMN IT SHION hahahaha. and I love how the pope became a litch and is now serving our party lmao. XDDD and how Granbell said Rimuru is too powerful to fall against Hinata really gave me chills. well, that is probably true tho. and they still took steps to ensure their plan working... I love this arc. Stellar writing.

I dunno but maybe take translation differences into consideration. that could potentially explain what you guys talk about. not that they changed things but maybe translation in the light novels interpreted things differently. dunno. remember we deal with a translation of a foreign work :) all I read is the web novel ( to the end game ) and I do not even have my sources to compare now. I buy my light novels in japanese so that wont help me either hahahah

>>137694548

also, is it me or you guys actually complain that the anime in the current momwnt in the narration does not explain things that will be explained further down the line? it is like you guys mixed things up in your heads a bit. and lets not forget that mixing things for the anime adaptation is also a good thing if it helps to smoothen the narration for this VERY DIFFERENT format of media ( to the books ) so let them cook. what you know as readers do not apply to the narration where things you know are yet to be properly revealed. lol. maybe am wrong, maybe not. just my cup of tea. :) cheers

>>137691238

Thanks for pointing that out. I missed it myself. I kinda thought that in the anime Damrada's voice, laugh, and mannerisms reminded me of Diablo, just not quite so... diabolical.

myst0dreamer
>>137694548

Yes, I learned a lot, but I have not fully reported that out, so to speak. I still have some questions but many have been answered.

myst0dreamer
>>137694548

No, to Monographic, I was kinda complaining that they let some info out too soon. It really wasn't a complaint, just an observation. But I guess it could come across as me saying that look at this info they're revealing, but they didn't do a good job of it. It wasn't hidden during that meeting in the LN that the Five Elders were from the West, there should have been no reason to think otherwise.

Also, to Monographic: this read-through that I am working on of the light novels has made a lot more sense to me than previous read-throughs. Previously I blamed translation variations for a lot of my confusion, and there are a lot of them. Fortunately, the anime and the official English translation are using terms for concepts that are actually pretty consistent. (Not names, titles, Skills or Organizations-- those are not consistent). I am still sometimes confused, but not as much as before. I also have a second translation to consult if I'm really struggling. I think it's because I am asking better questions than before, and coming at it with a better starting point.

I'm a little disappointed because based off the manga Damrada had his own gun Chapter 92.
