Itā€™s important to understand a few points about Giselleā€™s ā€œThe Zombieā€ Schrift. In order for an opponent to become a zombie, she they have to be splashed with Giselleā€™s blood specifically. Thatā€™s why Ikkaku didnā€™t turn into a zombie when Bambiā€™s blood splashed his face. Next is the difference in how Giselle turns Quincies into zombies vs how she turns Shinigami into zombies. In the case of a Quincy, they need to be truly dead in order for her Schrift to have any effect. Whereas in the case of a Shinigami, all she has to do is splash her blood onto them even once. So it doesnā€™t necessarily mean Toshiro is dead, it just means he was incapacitated or out of commission long enough that she was able to get her blood on him
