Writing and rendering is complete for the next release of Suzi's arc. There may be another day or two wait while the animations finish and the code gets all compiled together but it is effectively finished so I can move on to the next part. I'm always the bottleneck so this is great news.

I'm going to focus on getting the first release of the Avalon Remaster out next while I plan out the final release for Over the Moon.

The comments from the last progress report were overwhelmingly positive in favor of story development. I read every one of them and I have to thank you guys. Reading those comments was phenomenally refreshing. I loved hearing how invested everyone is in the plot. I hope to hear from all of you regarding the revelations from this update.

I had a long talk with my analyst the other day. I've been disenchanted with this market for a while now. The ban of APAT from Steam and itch left a lingering sour taste in my mouth. I live in perpetual fear that another game will be treated similarly. But, as my analyst said, I have significantly more experience now which means I should be able to reduce risk more effectively.

That's why Riam and I are talking about extreme risk management for the future. We're seriously considering removing all adult content from my games moving forward. However, I won't be able to stop any filthy degenerates out there from making some sort of lewd patch. I can't imagine what kind of pervert that would do such a thing, but it does happen.

That extra step would significantly reduce the risks I take, possibly generate higher profits, and give me peace of mind. That means more money I can reinvest in better products for you guys. But I'd love to hear your opinions on this. It's becoming standard in the industry but your feelings on this are important to me. Let me know.

Listening to several of your colleagues over the last close to one year, I do agree with you on the risks seen. Taking what is happening in the world in the moment and seeing this topic of cracking down on entertainment for adults without harm to others, I have a feeling we have as worldwide community the wrong priorities. But looking back into history of the last 2000 years, this is not the first time, that on one side we have wars, on the other side unbelievable behaviors of several communities. So be careful and watch the development

Just curious what you mean by 'removing adult content'? Does this meant no more sex or lewd scenes at all or just certain other riskier elements left out? I will support your stories whatever form they take but it would be a shame if you had to cut out all the sexy bits

The adult content wouldn't be in the game initially. You'd have to download a separate 'patch' from somewhere else other than Steam to add in the lewd parts. This is a very common tactic in the adult industry right now so that you can keep getting the content you want and the developer can keep actually putting the game on platforms so they can still put food on the table. If I'm selling a plane but flying is illegal, I can't sell you the plane. But if I sell you a vehicle with all the components of a plane except it doesn't have wings, then it's technically a car and I'm not technically selling you a plane. Then you go get the wings for free somewhere else. You know what I mean?

I'll prolly stick around no matter which avenue you choose, though I do appreciate the nuance you included! For those not in the know, an older anime called Shimoneta warned of the world where cussing and adult themes are banned, and just like 1984, the morons in power seem to be using it like a blueprint and not a warning. Very strange times we live in, but hopefully we'll persevere.

The problem with Steam and Itch has to do with their payment providers who, I've heard, are owned by repressive religious groups. I also won't desert you whatever your plan is. It's just a real shame. I always enjoy your stories and character development. Keep up the good work.

I laughed at that tactic, but you are right. I see more and more patches everyday for games on steam. I love your work, will always have the original APAT files and the second version. I wish I could do like a dev did and open a site/store and tell the whiners to bite me. My policy would be as long as it's legal where my servers are located then I don't care. I would find a very relaxed location for them of course. So do what you need to do to sell your work.

It is a complicated and convoluted mess. It's more a tangled web of incidence and influence and this market just got caught in the crossfire. Whatever the reasons, the results are what we have to concern ourselves with. The simple fact is that platforms are putting the squeeze on adult content so we've got to adapt or be squashed. The unfortunate truth is that we are not strong enough to stand against these regulations. We'll just be destroyed.

If that move removes risk for you, I'm all for it, why not. The only issue I have with it, that it's an extra step, extra friction, that might cost you a sale here and there, where people who download an illegal copy somewhere else, have zero friction. I was around when CD protection became common in the late 90s where people who just downloaded an illegal copy had a way easier time, so much so, that some people, myself included, bought the Game, put it on the Shelf still wrapped and got a copy somewhere else. I thought we left that behind when Steam became popular in the mid 2000s. Again, do what you have to do, it just annoys me that the illegal way is the easier way then. I'll stick around, as long as you keep on filling this Universe you have created.

It might sound harsh, but as long as the adult content will remain available via a patch, i don't realy care. That content is the reason i play these kinds of vn's

It's an immense amount of extra work for me too. Trust me, it's not something any of us want. It's just the state of the market right now. It sucks for all of us. :-/

Just my couple of pennies here...there are only 2 things that keep me interested in any AVN that I have experienced in the last year or so. First, an entertaining storyline and an intelligent script. Whether it's funny situations or thrilling cliffhangers, whatever it is, all I want is some adult-level dialogue with a good pace of advancing the story. I fully understand that for some devs, english is not their native tongue. As long as I can follow the dialogue, I'm OK. The other one is I need to find the characters, men and women, in the story interesting and when I become interested, I'm unusually loyal. If you can develop a LI that is worth getting to know beyond their looks, then you will probably have my attention. That said, the initial appearance is important too. It's the bait on the hook so to speak. I truly appreciate how you have not gone overboard with the various women in your AVN's. With all that said, you have me on the hook so far. The lewd stuff is sort of important too, but I'm more interested in the other things I've listed. Good luck and decide well.

Removing all adult material from your games in the future will be a great loss for those of us who have enjoyed your stories and characters up to now but I know I am not the only one out here that supports what you have to do to keep the bigots and white hooded censors off your back. We do not want to see what happened to the developer of "Proud Father" happen to you or Riam. Or anyone else you work with for that matter. Censorship is the downfall of freedom of expression no matter the fact that "No Pixels are harmed in these kinds of stories!" Do what you have to do.
