Marvellous Mondays | The X-Men (Patreon)

For those of you who have followed my work for a long time, you’ll know that I have a history of redesigning superhero costumes. I used to do it every Monday under the banner “Marvellous Mondays” and there are plenty I’ve loved over the years. But the thing I’ve always been fascinated with is team costumes. Maybe it’s the Sentai fan in me. So while this won’t become a weekly thing, I thought it’d be fun to design some entire teams, because I like trying to make costumes that fit together but feel distinct.

For the first attempt, I’ve recreated the first cover for the X-Men. I recently got the Penguin Classic collection of X-Men and while the later stuff is probably more beloved, I actually adore the dynamic of the original team.
