Yesterday for Pokémon Day I posted new versions of my Fakemon Starter designs that I've posted here before. I don't wanna go crazy designing 100 new monsters when I've got much more important stuff to be getting on with buuuuut I wanted to at least draw the full evolutionary lines for these guys.

The idea behind this is healers, clerics etc. The starter line are sort of meant to represent the stages of a forest fire, with the Herbear line before the ones who regrow the forests out of the ash. Apothicub likes to brew berry juice in the discarded nests of bug Pokémon. And Berapharm is part fairy type, I imagine it having a lot of healing moves. In general, I think Pokémon should do more double battles and encourage support types more.

Feeling very validated about my Herbear feelings right now. Berapharm is so huggable! The lore is so sweet! A grass/fairy support healer bear is custom made for the gays.

I loooooove this whole line 😭

These are so wonderful - I love a bipedal evolution from a starter

I used to prefer Digimon over Pokemon a lot, because Digimon could talk and were usually involved in the story (Adventure-02-Tamers era)... Yes, it had fights, but the fights were not an attraction, they were necessary to defeat evil while also doing some partner-developments (f.i. Kizuna). In Pokemon, everything is based around battles, which Digimon ultimately took on too, abandoning the Digiworld, putting everything in a hacker/internet setting where Digimon are just tools for battles now too. I wish Pokemon, especially the games would turn more into an adventure and not just a "run from point A to B be and do battle". The anime does a fairly better job, but still feels somehow half-hearted and Horizon turned into a battle-fest now too. TLDR: We definitely need more pokemon who don't need to battle, they can just have their own unique abilities and be valued for that.

Oh, Apothicub is so perfect.
