Hi all. I was commissioned by Booklist Publications to draw a comic foe their upcoming annual Guide to Graphic Novels in Libraries. I was asked to produce a one-page comic explaining "Why are libraries important?" and so I decided to try and tell the story of using my school's library to read comics.

I'm dyslexic and autistic and reading and explaining my thoughts have both always been really tricky for me. But comics really make sense to me and were especially vital to get me reading as a kid. They still are, of course.

So I've told a little textless comic about struggling to explain my ideas, and then realising comics are the perfect way to make it happen.

I've also included in this post some drawings I did of "Go-Man" when I was about 11-12. Although then he was called "Cucumber Hendrix". Don't ask me why! But at school many people knew me as the "Cucumber Hendrix" guy and even at the odd reunion people ask me if he's still around. Well, this August, he finally gets his time to shine! And it's all thanks to libraries!
