Bulma Prequel Comic?? (Patreon)

At London Comic Con last weekend, I became envious of the amount of fan art and fan zines people were selling. I sell the odd print here or there but my table is largely comprised of DeadEndia and it's related merchandise, and soon Go-Man will join it.

So I thought that on the side I might print a little 24-page (at most) zine about one of my favourite characters ever - Bulma.

I've always loved her but found the shift away from focussing on her one of the things I like least about Dragon Ball as it continues. I understand she still plays a role and I know the fighting becomes the main thing, but those initial adventure arcs of OG Dragon Ball are just some of the most fun manga I've ever read. She really does begin the books as the main character - SHE is the one looking for the Dragon Balls, not Goku.

SO I wanna draw a short little prequel comic detailing her life upon until she makes that decision to travel the world on her summer break, hoping to wish for a boyfriend.

I also wanna just have fun with some 80s fashion, so I've been sketching some potential outfits.

The first one is intentionally ugly and a prom dress, but I think this'll be what she wears before putting on her iconic Bulma dress and running away to find those balls. I think a prom date will disappoint her and she'll be like FINE! I'll wish on a dragon!

The other outfits are all just ideas for her being in high school with her friends. I think I like the second one the most. They're all based on 80s teen magazines from the time.
