In 2015-17, I worked with Nickelodeon to develop a show called "The Tall Tales of Urchin".

I thought that for my next few Patreon updates, I'd take you through that whole process! The show didn't get greenlit but I have nothing but good feelings about that time in my life! Nickelodeon nurtured my little gremlin child as best as they could.

They also were the ones to put me in touch with Blink Industries, the studio I am now represented by as a director and I am working with on several animated shows!

SO: The story really begins with my previous short, Badly Drawn Animals

The short was super fun but we all agree it could have been handled better. It was Nick International's first year doing the shorts program and understandably there were some hiccups. They wanted to give me another shot so invited me to pitch again.

It pitched Urchin, a Victorian-street-orphan comedy series! They responded well and put me in touch with Blink where we developed the above animatic!

That eventually turned into the full short that you can watch here, thanks to the talented work of animators Jonathan Harris and Blanca Martinez de Rituerto.

The short went down well internally and Nickelodeon offered me the chance to develop it further... but Part 2 of the Urchin story shall come tomorrow! Until then enjoy the never-before-released original animatic above!
