Barney: The Living Human Designs (Opinions Wanted!) (Patreon)

Hey gang!

In DeadEndia 2, Barney joins the Demon Wrestling Federation. It's a huge plot point that him being a HUMAN is his selling point, and he goes by the name The Living Human. 

I'm finding that concept hard to visualise. Which of these do you think are heading in the best direction?

I like all the concepts and colours, but I think the smily face emoji is kinda the closest thing humans have for a symbol? They always say a human face is something we tend to look for in any inanimate object. As simple as it is, a big smily face feels right (or like Homer Simpson's swimming trunks). That said, a big love heart would also be good and simple, like the x-ray style designs you've done. Barney is a lover AND a fighter.

In terms of just visual appeal I really like 1, 2, and 4, but in terms of something that says 'living human' 8 and 9 seem strongest. I don't know if it's possible to take the concept for 8 and 9 and simplify/jazzify it a bit? They seem a bit busy, perhaps focussing more on the heart might make sense?

I think in fitting with the theme 8 and 9 seem best. But in terms of what catches my eye I like 2, 6 and 7. I think either way I like the idea of having the cape even if it’s just for the going down to the ring bit before the main wrestling and removing it when it’s time to wrestle

Not sure if you are planning on 'telling a story behind the scenes" but i think its possible for you to use multiple of these designs without it being a big deal (or it can be if you want to write it that way.) I can see Barney 7 as he just buys a generic suit and like the others make a big deal about him being human. So once he gets in he stitches together one of the last two to go for that "indie wrestling group gimick" he's trying to Play it Up. and either once he's established or has Big Plot Moment he or one of his friends gets him 1,2 or 6, since everyone knows who he is by now and they look more Pro. I personally like 1 more than 2 but i think its the leg part and the mask. I think 2 would be great as a shout out to his being trans and our love of the fact that 'macho' men dont need to be scared of femininity. Perhaps you can put all of them in as an easter egg in like his "What should my spiderman costume look like" sketchbook

8 and 9 are my favorites. They're the right balance of "cute," "creepy," and "clearly human." 8 is a little cuter, 9 is a little funnier.
