The Acolyte Chicks (Patreon)

ENG#TheAcolyte has been a magnet for destructive criticism long before its release, much like all the material around The High Republic.
Since its premiere, I have read accusations and biased headlines claiming it is woke, feminist, lgbt and wathever.
With so much controversy surrounding it, I want to share my opinion after having finished watching it.

To cut to the chase, I dare say that the trailers and statements of the authors had more woke than the series itself.
I suppose this helped to spread the series further, since there's no such thing as bad publicity, only publicity.
And headlines like "The first lesbian matriarchal tribe in Star Wars" or similar, only increased the popularity and put the series on everyone's lips.
There are some elements that can be identified as woke, but this is only on the surface. I didn't identify any subliminal messages that made me want to abort, marry a man, or vote for the left-wing politician in my country.
It is true that there are fewer white guys than usual, but that doesn't really matter to me. If it's about "agendas," I usually care more about having hot chicks, and this series is full of them. In any case, I am the least troubled by seeing lesbians in Star Wars.
The first thing I evaluate are the technical aspects, which, overall, were well done.
Although at times things looked unnatural, like the exterior shots of spaceships, generally, everything was very well cared for, and the series allowed itself to be watched without making you want to facepalm, as happened with 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' and 'Ahsoka'.
The character of Basil is one of the best. I couldn't tell if it was a puppet, animatronic, or what, but it looks great! Very well integrated.
I liked all the lightsaber choreography. Especially the fight between Mae and Indara, the padawan Torbin deflecting the witches' magic arrows, and the final battle.
Artistically, it doesn't stand out too much. Beyond the distinctive golden uniform of the Jedi of that era, everything looked too generic. The aesthetics of the witches, Mae, and Osha (after separating from that culture) lack identity and will just be another culture among the hundreds that have existed since the beginning of the expanded universe.
As for the script, I consider it one of the most coherent among what Disney has created so far, simply because the other series and movies have set the bar low enough.
Not big deal, only well done.
The best character development was for Master Sol, and how his personality evolves is remarkable. Not only because of Lee Jung-jae's characterization, but also because of how he was presented throughout each episode.
To a lesser extent, I also really liked the padawan Torbin.
On the downside, they fell short in justifying why Osha decided to ally with those who killed her friends. Maybe in the future, it will be better justified with a comic, book, or second season.
The character of Vernestra Rwoh was by far the worst. Rebecca Henderson's portrayal seemed flat and boring to me. Maybe she didn't want to mess up her makeup. At least almost every time she appeared, it was in the Jedi Temple, a setting I always enjoy seeing.
It doesn't necessarily make me want to see more about the High Republic, but I do think it's good that they dedicate so much effort to a product.
It would be great if a second season came out. And of course, that they give the same importance to the rest of the products, especially those that fans eagerly await.

Artisticamente no destaca demasiado.
