What a pleasant surprise, probably my favourite film of all time. Although almost everyone I recommend it to hate it so I'm really curious as to what you ladies think.

One of mine as well and one of Ridley Scott's best. "The ghost in the machine." Philosophy, metaphysical spirituality. I met the late Rutger Hauer a few years before he died at a restaurant in Venice Beach CA. We were both waiting for our cars. I told him "Great actor. Great Ines. Like tears in the rain" and he responded to me "Time to die". How ironic he died just a few years later.

So glad you two liked this one! It's one of my favorites, and the sequel Blade Runner 2049 is even better in every way. Ryan Gosling is amazing in it! I won't spoil anything, but this movie and its sequel are connected. Hope you react to 2049 soon! :-)

This is one of those hard science fiction films that’s not for everyone. Cool you two enjoyed it.

Pointless trivia, but Ridley Scott (the director) and Harrison Ford have continued to argue since the movie was made about whether Deckard is a replicant himself. Ridley Scott says he is, and some other versions of the movie have added scenes to support this. Harrison has always insisted that Deckard is human.

Making Deckard a replicant would be shock for shock's sake and ruin the through line of the film ... that a human can love a self-aware A.I. being. And at the end, vice vesa as Deckard's life is saved by a replicant that valued life from whatever source it was derived.

It's more of a cult classic that older fans of the science fiction genre would be most familiar with. Kind of a shame, since it was so influential and ahead of its time.
