As the Gatling Laser is such a big project with many different ways that stuff could go wrong I wanted to at least print a decent amount of the project myself. Mainly just to make sure the major bits fit together as intended and my idea for the drive system will actually work. The above photo is what I've printed and assembled so far and its definitely longer than expected but its not like its a tiny weapon in game. I will keep saving out the parts and once I'm happy these major parts are good I'll release the files.

What kind of motor have you in mind for it?

Lilykill

My current plan is to have a 12v reduction motor at around 200 rpm, seems like it would spin at roughly the right speed and be torq'y enough to do the job. The whole barrel arrangement will be on bearings so it should rotate quite easily.

Sounds great. Usually use similar motors 6-12V depending on project size with around 200-300 rpm. And yes, putting the whole arrangement on bearings did really ease the work for the motor.

We cannot wait for this to be ready so we can add another Gatling laser to our armory over here. Our old one has seen better days and wasn't really modeled for being toured around convention halls lmao
