The first person to challenge Lily is another thylarin with six arms. In each of his hands, he holds a dagger. There is no waiting either, the fight starts right away in a sudden burst of speed.

The arena is still the same, a huge floating island with a few dozen more islands of various sizes floating around it. Some of them are connected to the main one with long vines, others float there freely. Some hold forests, others mountains, and some flatland with lush grass. It is all high in the blue sky, with even clouds around, through which the orange light of the sun shines.

On that main floating island, Lily and the thylarin clash at high speed. He is faster than her, and four of his daggers cut into her flesh, but break against her bones. The remaining two are much more durable and sharp. They cut off Lily's arms and one of her legs, and he twists around to go after her head.

Before he has an opportunity, the stumps of her limbs elongate and stretch, reaching the cut-off parts and reconnecting them, giving Lily creepily long limbs. Bones pierce her skin from the inside and form an armor on her neck and forehead, carved with deep grooves from the weapons, but enduring.

Her long limbs then move like a snake, bones within them breaking and restoring as she grabs hold of the man.

In a panic, he moves to cut them off, but they squeeze and break the bones in one of his legs before he cuts it off and staggers back. Using the opportunity, Lily restores her limbs, returning her body to its original shape.

Lowering herself, she heals much faster than her opponent and charges him. Though still fast, with a not fully healed leg, he cannot match her speed anymore, and the palm of her hand slams against his chest as she takes his slashes before she jumps back, fixing her clothes. Wounds on her, even from this last clash, regenerate at a speed visible to the eye while the man staggers around.

The same as before, but much faster, likely because of a weaker body, her opponent's skin melts, muscles disintegrate, and he coughs before vomiting out pieces of his insides and his bones. His body breaks apart as before, too.

After that, ten more people challenge her.

Multiple of them are from Earth, though the heavy hitters do not appear yet, as if giving her an opportunity to enjoy the event. Lily wins each of these fights, some of them by not even using mana and relying on her body's power and natural regeneration.

The longer it goes on, the more people realize she is a healer first, as she even restores a cut-off head or does not die as a projectile cuts her body in half. Like an undying Terminator, like an eldritch monster, her body twists, and reforms as she stands up each time. When needed, she grows more arms, she elongates her torso. She keeps changing her size mid-fight to confuse martial arts specialists.

She even faces people with powerful bodies head on, forming her "Skele-suit," as I still call it. Bones protrude from her skin to form armor from, well, her bones, a material likely more durable than many arcane materials for armor.

Then, there is her new way she uses [Disintegration] combined with her healing. It pierces through armor, it has almost no visual signs, and it eats up even the most durable people in that terrifying way.

Some of her opponents try to snipe her and keep their distance, but Lily is fast and reaches them in mere moments. Some try to bombard her, but cause near zero damage to her, and she keeps throwing boulders at them at supersonic speeds. There are a few that try to tire her out, but she attacks aggressively, moves faster, and still does not even use any of the fake organs she has made for sacrifice, nor has her hair shortened.

She faces ten more, including Noelle, Derick, and Monte.

And she wins, though each of these fights takes an effort from her. But Lily keeps pushing, not even showing a sign of wanting to stop as she stands there with her wounds closing as quickly as before, even without her actively healing.

"Do you think she can push it to the end and murder everyone here? I don't think she will go down until someone like Tacita goes in," Maya mutters.

"There goes the fourth event," Dennis snickers by her side as his brother does the same.

"Does it matter?" Tess says with a smile as she rocks in the rocking chair she brought outside. "Just let her enjoy the event. We had our dose of fun."

Everyone here seems to agree, and though our group gets some glances that might want some of us to go in and put an end to this, no one does it.

***

Earth currently has 200-300 people in Hell difficulty, and out of them, around 60-90 are also in Beyond. At least, that is our estimate.

After three events, we also estimate the other side might have more people in Hell difficulty, but a similar amount on lower floors on average, and likely fewer people in Beyond. The current estimate is that they have just 50 of them.

More people enter to challenge Lily, only to be defeated as well. No one can deal with her improved [Disintegration]. Just a single clean hit from her is enough to end the fight.

Though there is that speedy guy who moves around her mid-range, throwing projectiles and using gravitational energy to slow her down while chipping at her health. That guy dies anyway. At one point, he just starts slowing down and coughing up blood. It makes me wonder if Lily released a sort of toxin into the air, or a nearly invisible cloud of [Disintegration] particles.

But it is not like the others are weak, so though she still holds strong, her resources are beginning to run out. Her mana does not replenish sufficiently, and she starts running out of her sacrificial organs and begins sacrificing her hair, which she always seemed to value and which makes a good [Sacrifice] for that reason. Later, she moves to her fingers just to gain a burst of mana or strengthen her body.

When it comes to her final duel, she stands there with one of her arms entirely missing, hair short, one eye also gone, and chest heaving heavily. Fifty-three. That is how many Hell difficulty combatants fell to her, among them quite powerful Beyond-level fighters as well.

Her last opponent is Jean, who joins in to challenge her. Not to exploit the opportunity, but to give her a chance to go all out against someone proper, and not a hyena wanting to take her down. Even I can see that this makes her slightly happy as she smiles and stands up taller.

Jean does not even do his usual battle-maniac act, he smiles at her in a similar way and takes a step ahead, stomping on the floating island they are on. In an explosion of the raw force of his strength, the island shakes, and cracks appear throughout its entirety. And while the two of them face each other, the island cracks and splits into two pieces, with each of them on one piece. Both of these pieces continue to float in the air, bouncing and crashing against each other.

He charges in first and, in a powerful leap, shoots at Lily, which causes his piece of the island to be pushed back from the immense momentum.

Lily smiles even more, and she takes a deep breath. I watch her face, big on the screen, her bangs falling onto her single eye. Her pupil widens, and she takes another breath just as Jean is almost there. Then, one of her small, fake hearts made for sacrifice awakens and beats just once before it breaks.

The frequency, the rhythm, everything other than the power of the output is entirely identical to my Sealed Ignition Heart.

Yellow flames of primordial thermal energy seep through her body, dancing across her hand along with the gray of her [Disintegration].

One of her ankles breaks in a sudden burst of speed as she avoids Jean’s punch, and the piece of the island under her gets hit with that force, creating a huge crater and sending it spinning away through the sky. Jean quickly changes direction, jumping on the smaller pieces floating around and following Lily.

Another of her ankles breaks as she charges against him this time.

For a moment, it almost looks like her fist will meet with his body, but Jean uses his [Pull] on her, just slightly enough to throw her off balance, and then uses his longer range. His fist meets her head, and even with all the durability she has, it explodes, finally ending her fourth event.

Lily appears outside near us, confused for a moment but quickly regains composure. She looks around, her eyebrow moving as if asking me what I think about the trick she pulled with her fake heart. And I know what she did. She likely knows my Ignition Heart better than me, better than that catboy. And with how much talent she has with this kind of stuff, it almost makes sense.

Almost.

As I stare at her, I cannot stop thinking about how ridiculous that all is, and how little sense it makes.

After all, for that shortest heartbeat, she just created that weak connection to a primordial energy that she knows the best from experimentation on me, by mimicking my heart and how it is made.

Just as the Ruler of Kindness once did when she and Pride bestowed demon hearts upon the first one hundred Progenitor demons.

***

The next to challenge Jean is Sophie, causing the smile he had on his face to disappear the moment he spots the mind mage. The mood around him shifts immediately, and the pressure intensifies.

Neither he nor Sophie talk.

Sophie's swarm of mana constructs surrounds her, all of them shooting into the area where they start preparing barriers and fields. Meanwhile, Blackie leaves her shadow, reaches Jean, and enters his. Jean lets it all happen, and as his own shadow tries to restrict him, he moves anyway. His muscles bulge, twist, and pull as he walks, tearing his shadow, which stays behind with Blackie, who instead throws itself into a pile of rocks and grows into a golem twice Jean's height.

The bearded man does not even turn around, he just swings his arm, his strength in combination with some active skill, tearing the golem apart and throwing the pieces away.

Projectiles reach him, but each of them shifts slightly as he tugs on them with his [Pull], and they all miss while crashing around him.

He then reaches towards the air in a pulling motion towards himself.

The piece of floating island Sophie is on first begins to shake as it is drawn toward him. That enormous mass of floating stone. At first, it moves slowly, but its speed continues to increase, with his muscles shining in sweat as if he is not pulling with just a skill, but with his body as well.

I am sure Sophie launches a barrage of mental attacks against him, but I also know Jean, for some reason, very deeply hates mind mages. Out of all Earth's tutorial participants, his mental defenses are among the best. Even so, as the floating island crashes against where he is in an explosion of debris and rock, his movements stop, and his expression turns blank.

His fingers straighten and pull together, and his hand moves in a stabbing motion towards his own head. His fingers pierce his eye and head towards his brain, only for his hand to stop at the last moment.

Jean regains his senses and pulls that hand out slowly, together with the remaining pieces of his eye. His blood is dripping down his face, and from his fingers across his forearm, yet he does not break eye contact with Sophie.

Likely because, by reaching a closer distance, he breaks through her natural barrier and defenses and pulls her body towards him, causing her to shoot like a rocket at him. His bloodied hand grabs her around her neck, and just as he squeezes, she disappears, only to be replaced by Blackie, with whom she switched places.

That black shadow twists and coils around Jean, attempting to hold him back. Stones from the area continue to be grabbed by Sophie's bond as he tries to regrow into a golem, yet the man does not even care about him. The damage caused by Blackie seems to be even less than before, and each step Jean takes just breaks the bond apart.

Sophie, meanwhile, stands about a mile away on another floating island that moves through the air. Around her, rocks form into dense javelins, further sharpened by her mana and with parts of her swarm clinging to them, covering them in inscriptions to make them stronger. She does all of it incredibly quickly, possibly tapping into thought acceleration a little bit or having plenty of these things stored and prepared. She also must know that the more she uses attacks against that man, the weaker they temporarily become, so her manipulation stays in reserve.

Her projectiles launch at him at high speed, just as he begins pulling on the floating island she stands on. It is incredible to watch it shift and gradually pick up speed, as if moved by the sheer strength of a single body.

Stone projectiles are pulled, redirected, and smashed through, and Jean bends down and grabs a piece of stone.

Sophie immediately moves to dodge, just as Jean pulls back and throws it with full force.

A loud thud sounds as the stone launches, and I see Sophie watch it with wide-open eyes.

And nothing happens, causing Jean to tilt his head in confusion, only for both of them and us outside to realize at the same time what happened.

The stone just disintegrated under the sheer force of the throw.

Unfazed, Jean stretches his hand toward a nearby floating island, and a chunk of metal-like ore rips from its side, hurtling through the air and slamming into his hand with a heavy thump.

Without hesitation, he pulls back again, buries his feet into the ground, and throws. And though Sophie tries to dodge, a sonic boom thunders, and one of her legs explodes into a burst of pink mist.

Praying for Sophia’s death 🙏 no. 1 Sophia hater since chapter 13

Gutz

let's go baby

Tsorov

You do know that even if she dies in the event, she just revives outside of it?

frankie doerr

Got to say group 4 has a huge discrepancy of heavy hitters

Tsorov

The fights are epic, although I question why Sophie chose to go against Jean. Is it because he is the worst matchup she can hope for? (Except maybe Nat or Tactica)

Emmanuel Martinez

You know, I have been so hyped for Nat’s transformation that I almost didn’t appreciate Cerim’s writing style for the fights. It’s so fucking good, that sometimes it feels way too short when it really isn’t.

Slapjack

You'd leave Izzy without a sister? Pretty cruel

Borbino the great

I just can’t wait to see this upgrade Nat has it’s been so hyped for so long I need to see what happens

Andrew

Thank you!

Sushitrash

Lily still being a scary little demon, I love it

Hardworking Guy

It's fun seeing the other characters shining a bit, while it's Nate's turn to be part of the peanut gallery. I'm sure the alien wants to dominate the event towards the end. As long as it will not be too one-sided it will all be good, maybe he will even redeem himself at some point instead of being an antagonist. As for Sophie's fight against Jean, whatever will happen, it's good Jean gets to confront her, it could help him find out she's not so bad.

Budgie

Can't wait to see what all this stalling leads to. Fuck Mindmages and empaths.

Val the mysterious Jedi

Tournament just slap differently, also love soph is telling jean she ain't soft. Group 4 have the biggest *****🥒

Eastbound monk

Tyftc. I feel like these chapters are soooooo short🤣🤣. Problem is I'm normally a binger...

Eike M

He is pretty antagonistic towards her, so this could either be a test to see how she would fare against him or she hopes he mellows out a bit if he can "get it out of his system" by fighting her.

Gutz

I just reread the 1st and 2nd books: I really hate Sophie.

Hardworking Guy

Probably to prove something to him. Either that he's not capable of killing her, so he will be forced to forget the deal he had with Nathaniel, or to prove that she's not your average mind mage that enslaves people. Maybe she wants to say with this fight "If I'll mess with your mind, is to use your own hand to tear off that bald head of yours."

Nylyx

This is exactly why her death is possible, cerim won’t kill her off, but temp death is doable!

Tanean

Either to prove something like others have said or she want a specific information that Jean has or something similar that requires using her power on Jean and the only way to get it without him realizing is in this fight.

Arnon Parenti

Sophie is sneaky, I bet it's her fighting both sides of this duel after she sneaked a fragment into Jean's mind. It's all just a show to hide her abilities from everyone else while smacking Jean for the bs he fed her on their earlier meets.

Adrian Rake

This was an epic chapter 🙂👍

Lizy Flore

I will never understand the Sophie hate. I don’t want to, either. I love her. I love her and her sister. Greed and kindness are opposite, but I want to see a world where they complement each other perfectly.

RJ Barnes

Cause mind manipulation is by far the worst way to lose yourself, especially for strong willed people who are a cut above the rest. Same reason why dementia is terrifying for most

Fdrugc

Mind control is to dangerous

Fdrugc

Tftc I'm glad Lily had fun also she is incredibly.

Moonfrost

please specify in the latter case; don't you dare lump Izzy with Fraudrian

2026-09-05 04:00 I love how Sophie always gets her get backs. as soon as she's strong enough to put up a fight, she pulls up on whoever tried pulling shit on her before ASAP.

Edmund Dillon

TFTC!!! Love to see the terminator in action. I wonder who is going to win this match up?

Al

Cerim I love this and it’s great. But I really, really want to see Nat’s finished upgrade and abilities. Please and thank you

Josh Betts

Ending was pretty abrupt

Kevin

In order to vaporize stone like that, he’d have to throw it well over 100 times the speed of sound. At least that’s when meteors tend to vaporize when falling to earth. Then again the rock would likely turn to some kind of powder from the force before that actually happens.

Kirin

Thank you for the chappie!

Baramus

This is a good way to show not to fuck with her. It’s one thing if Jean has a deal with Nat, it’s another if Sophie can beat him on her own. Or at least, make it too costly of a fight to be warranted.

GloinJr

A lot of Nats friends are kinda taking on some of his characteristics. Lily has his wanton disregard for experimenting on her body and Sophie has Nat's patient pride

Audrey WJ

Yep, that's how you give the man who wants to kill you most even more reason to dislike you 😂. Jean will win or the entire tutorial will be shocked to find out just how incredibly scary Sophie is. I wonder what Adrian/Christophe thinks about mind mages and how one could affect his rule.

karmaslap

Imo its the perfect spot for them to fight. Jean will get healed back to normal when he's out of the ring, and either he'll win and feel more confident or lose and likely with his character would appreciate the learning opportunity

Nykyrion

What a stunning expression of love for Nat. 🤍 Also, fantastic to see more of an official start of Lily proving Ruby wrong. TYFTC

Raquna

C, y g 6. 6

Balsamic ThunderThighs

More of a Jean fan than Sophie fan but I still would like her to get a W. I think it would make Jean push himself even more knowing there's another person in his generations tutorial that can be a legit threat against him besides Nat and Adrian (and I'm pretty sure he knows and others, that Adrian is pretty darn strong.)

Daniel Gidman

Probably not as much as you think… it’s not the speed, it’s the acceleration. 0 to whatever is an awful lot of newtons to absorb for anything

Eastbound monk

I hated her the first couple books, but once she learned her place and respected nat ive turned into a fan.

Eastbound monk

Cerim made her EXTREMELY unlikeable in those firs ones. If not for the distance I have from them I would probably be a hater.

Eastbound monk

WOAAAAH, we have an Izzy hater? BOOOOOOOO

Kevin

For meteors it is the speed and not the acceleration because of the way gravity applies to the entire object at once. Meteors burn up due to the heat generated from friction with the air which is ultimately determined by their speed. For a thrown rock you are right and the force applied on the throw is the most important figure, but we are still talking about stupid levels of force here. Especially since the text says that the rock disintegrated. When pushing a rock against something, like with a hydraulic press, I believe it’s possible to crush it without a truly ridiculous amount of force. But I’d imagine instantly disintegrating a rock by pushing it against the air in the way described would require nuclear amounts of force.

Bob

I don't understand "After three events, we also estimate the other side might have more people in Hell difficulty, but a similar amount on lower floors on average, and likely fewer people in Beyond" is it on lower difficulty levels instead of floor?

Drunkgnome

I do think it’s a good opportunity for him to get it out of his system. Jean respects the strong and he might gain a sliver of respect for her after this. Might lol. It’s also entirely possible he grows to hate her even more though

Nykyrion

Savant told Nat that people were starting to say Lily is becoming similar to how Kindness was at the same level of power that Lily is now in healing powers and warned him of the implications. Nat and Ruby discussed it and Ruby said she hadn’t even gotten close. In this chapter, Lily creates an (albeit underpowered) Identical ignition heart to Nat’s. By using her healing power she created an organ capable of creating a non-natural primordial energy. That is a feat that Kindness And Pride previously had to work together to make. Although I’m sure there’s a massive difference between creating an internal organ and transferring a functional one to someone else. It literally created the demon race and Lily made one for herself and used it in front of everyone in their tutorial (in part) as an expression of love to Nat.

Flo Zilla

pretty sure his name is Fraudrian

Goof Nasty

Muscle magic is crazy

U

I still think that's not enough for her to be Kindness level as imitation is easier then invention

Madje Tobi Marc'Avent Tchona

Don’t forget she literally just heard about it…. The wolf told her and Nat about it a few chapters back and she already made a prototype… Ruby has no idea what she talking about. All these rulers sitting on their high thrones forget what it was like being an attendee. Lily definitely a problem

Morde24

Confused as to your confusion. There are a series of requirements needed to get into beyond. Basically Nat is saying. Similar population size, smaller hell survival rate, larger population with greater abilities, or at least access to those abilities via beyond. Which if you recall, has a series of requirements and is effectively a subset of hell difficulty, not actually a new population. (Basically the strong earth people are probably overall stronger)

Manthar

The other planet has more 'Hell' difficulty attendees still alive, but less Beyonders

Woodstock179

That is incredibly sneaky of her and tottaly something she would do. Very op actually in this set up there is no downside win or lose she gets to try "for free" no repercussions to get info as its expected she should use all her power in a 1v1 tournament fight. Just more Group 4 being Group 4 (if thats the case)

Chase

Just putting it out their, that I will riot if this series ends without nat and lily kissing

Al

That’s not how I read it… I read it as they have more #, or at least a higher ratio, of people in hell difficulty than earth. But fewer beyond difficulty attendees. I wasn’t sure if he was also alluding to their hell difficulty attendees having not progressed as far as earth has, but that’s what I thought he meant when he referenced floors. I took the statement to imply earth has greater quality but less quantity at the top. The other tutorial had more #, but lower individual quality.

s

She said lily wouldn't be as strong as kindness but there's a clear parallel of lily mirroring kindess's feats and approaching the same fate.

13L00D13ANE

Nah, daniel is right on the money with this one, kevin. Its bc of acceleration. Imagine a ball of soft foam. If you yeet that shit as hard as you can, your fingers will indent into it. The foam dented not because of the air, but because the acceleration placed on it by your hand.

Manthar

No, it's Fraudrian

Audrey WJ

I get it, he's a fraud but I just don't like the way it sounds when I say it.

Bob

Nat says indeed all of that, without needing the part "but a similar amount on lower floors on average". Is it saying "the other side as more hell difficulty but on the lower floor of hell difficulty they have the same number of people" or was it meant to be about easy, normal and hard difficulty "the other side has more hell difficulty but on average the same number of lower difficulty attendees." ? It seems quite hard at a distance to judge the floor of an attendee and they are simpler way to express a similar thing like "more hell attendees and they are stronger but less beyonders". So I think Nat was just talking about easy, normal, hard in addition to hell and beyond that are clearly mentioned.

Lance Beam

TFTC. The most Bulldozer Bulldozer to ever Bulldozer and Cliff!!??

Lance Beam

The issue for the rock experiencing stupid acceleration is its inertia.

Lance Beam

It would be funny if Nat gets attacked by the aliens and just fries them by ceasing to shield all of the mana and primordial energy he's generating.

Ivan Jelenić

Wasn't the limit for Beyond 10 people from Hell? Not 50+?

David Fisher

As Vega would say, "kaboom."

Kevin

Yeah, that’s what I agreed with when I said the “force applied on the throw is the most important figure”. Force = mass * acceleration and the distinction between the two isn’t really that relevant for this pointless internet discussion. I will admit that I don’t actually know enough physics to determine what it would take to disintegrate stone, but I also know you are just as uninformed as I am. So I’ll state my opinion again. The force required is FAR too much to be reasonable.

Morde24

10 per group

Morde24

@AI if you recall, the people were taken from earth over the course of time. It's heavily implied if not outright stated they were held in suspended animation until a quota of people are reached. So every single tutorial starts with the same number of people
