“I want five active skills combination token,” I say, then gesture towards the black haired healer, “and for Lily as well.”

“No,” Diligence answers.

“So you acknowledge there is such a thing?”

“I do not.”

“See, Lily? This is what I have to deal with.”

“Nat, is that creepy ant the Ruler of Diligence? Oh, and hello Zant, it is nice to see you again so soon!”

“I greet you, Lady Lily.”

Diligence says, “The rewards you receive will include the rewards for clearing the quest of the 1st floor of Beyond, to simplify things. Is there anything else you would like?”

Lily looks around, observing the area with wide eyes for a few seconds before moving toward the boys to heal each of them.

Meanwhile, I shake my head. “I know this cheap tactic. You are trying to get me to ask because I might be unaware of the value of what we did, and lower the offer. But we killed that Dhampir guy who was about to revive a god and probably ruin the entire First Dungeon, killing everyone there.”

“There is no way something like that would ever have happened because of him.”

“Morwag is...no, we are heroes, all of us. Just in our small group, and thanks to Lily’s terrifying joy in finding creepier and creepier ways to kill people, we defeated tens of millions of lurkers. I bet you even somehow reduced our rewards. There should also be millions of items that should be ours.”

“I find the way he talks very annoying,” Diligence says, turning to Ruby.

She just shrugs. “He is always such a little shit when he is in a good mood.” She then looks at me. “There weren’t tens of millions of lurkers. Why don’t you have one of your minds comb through the notifications and count them?”

“I tried. Every mind I attempted to assign that work to rejected it.”

Ruby blinks, and I calmly face her.

“Anyway,” she says, “you have received all the experience you deserved. If the Skreths you got the rot from still lived, they would get the experience as well, which would make the 3rd floor even more fun.”

“I do not think fun is the correct word,” Diligence disagrees. “As Greed said, a part of the experience should be allocated to the Skreths, and another part even to the Dhampir, whose connection to the lurkers you exploited. With them dead, that experience was partially allocated to you, but some of it was reabsorbed by the system. So, you got all you could. As for the items, there is simply no way you would be able to collect all of them. Even now, before we pulled you here, some attendees were lucky enough to loot some, and a few groups even got to live thanks to the lurkers suddenly dying.”

“Heroes,” Lily smiles and shoves my side, making Diligence turn to her, but her smile stays on, causing him to shake his head.

“Lord Ruler, if I may,” Savant says from the side, “must the rewards we pick be heard by the others?”

The ant turns to him. “They do not.”

“In such a case, I have selected mine. If you open a separate communication channel with me, I will ask you if it is possible.”

They do just as Savant asks, and after a short exchange, Diligence answers without even asking Ruby or Envy for their thoughts. “Your request almost pushes it, but it is reasonable and still within limits, so I confirmed it. Now that you-”

“If I may.”

“Yes?”

“I would like to stay until you send everyone back. It is possible I will learn a useful piece of information or two still,” Savant says.

Before he even realizes it, the throne Envy sits on empties. The lumoran stands next to Savant, laughing and putting his arm around his shoulders. “How shrewd. Why don’t you try changing your subclass? I have a spot for a disciple or two.”

“I apologize, but I have no intention of changing it,” Savant answers. “Also, please, I would prefer it if you did not touch me.”

Envy just smiles widely and, in an exaggerated gesture, lifts his hands into the air. Turning around, he takes a long step, bumps into Weslin, who gives him a hard look, and then, with a twist, stops in front of me and Lily.

He is right in front of my face, staring into my eyes. “You have a look similar to the imitation,” he says.

“Do I?” I ask.

Envy nods, his smile widening. “But it is okay with you, you are still so very weak. There is talent, and there is a correct mindset, something The Absolute would appreciate the most, judging from her records. But…” He pauses. His head tilts as he looks into my eyes and even pokes the veins on the side of my neck. “There is nothing to envy as of yet.”

A huge shadow falls on both of us, and Envy slowly turns around to face Diligence, who stands right behind him. A conversation I am not invited into is exchanged between the two of them, one that should probably be minutes long, yet shared in a mere fraction of a second.

Lifting his arms into the air again, Envy moves toward the throne, kicks it, and then both he and the throne disappear, leaving only Ruby and the ant behind.

Diligence speaks as if nothing happened. “Attendee Savant proposed a reasonable take, and I agree that it would be reasonable to negotiate with everyone separately. And before you say anything, Attendee Gwyn: I won’t be using it as an opportunity to scam naive attendees. Though some of them seem scared, I will even try to talk to their Handlers.”

“Can I have Nathaniel negotiate instead of me? I don’t think my handler cares enough to help,” Lily asks.

To that, Diligence agrees and begins talking privately to the others.

At one point, he says out loud, sounding almost insulted, that he won’t be giving a piece of his body as a reward to Brich, who immediately starts crying. He is literally crying, as if an attempt at emotional manipulation like that would make the Ruler change his mind. Brich just tries everything he can, saying he will switch subclasses and, getting braver, asking to be Diligence’s test subject. He asks to be turned into an ant and offers to test items for him.

All of these are rejected, and the conversation becomes silent again, with even Calvorn seemingly joining in as Brich likely tries to get some rewards for the sword as well. Smart guy. I would do the same.

Once the negotiation ends, Diligence sends him away and turns to Weslin. This conversation is much shorter and, judging by Weslin’s face, the half-demon is very happy with the reward, though he is making that face he uses when he tries to hide his emotions unsuccessfully.

Savant then gets kicked out finally, ruining his plan to wait for free information.

Morwag is surely the one to get the highest reward, as he stole the most participation points, and by the looks of it, he is satisfied with the reward as well. Though, given the sweat on his face, I have a suspicion he already chose his Primary Class upgrade during all of this, and the changes are applying to him now.

What a lunatic, I think as I wipe sweat off my forehead and push away waves of weakness attacking me, and the feeling of blood burning in my veins.

When the most demon demon to ever demon is about to be gone, he just says to the confused Ruler of Diligence, "I still have not forgotten the battle you robbed me of."

The ant then looks down at Zant as if searching for help, but the tiny vyssari just shrugs, so the Ruler turns to me. "Now for the annoying part."

"Ruby, I feel deeply hurt. Can I require higher rewards as compensation?"

"I do not think so," she says.

"What do you want?" Diligence asks.

With the conversation mostly prepared in my mind, I dust off my clothes and take a small step forward. "What just happened in the middle of the 1st floor… I will do it again."

Ruby chuckles but quickly stops because of something I can’t perceive. Her eyes are still shining as she watches from behind the table.

"I will take Lily here, Savi, and in a few months, we will gather more of that Necrotic Rot and trap it in someone’s, very likely, left arm. I will even ask the people from Group 4 to throw in some of their own stuff so they can get some easy level-ups. Before you say it won’t work without Morwag, I’ll just say I will ask Dennis for help. His [Connection] isn’t that dissimilar, and hell, with the right amount of time, I might straight up bully that Dhampir. So, why don't we skip the annoying part? Double our rewards. You can also send an addition to Savi, since he already left and would be part of that."

"Diligence," Ruby says, bringing the ant's attention to her, "I don't think he is joking. And there is no rule you could use to stop him. If you decide to go against the rules, in this case, I will push against you." She smiles. "I think rather than messing with the body again, it is better to just increase his rewards."

Zant gently pets Diligence's chitin leg, and the huge ant lowers his head to gently tap the tiny guy's head with his antenna.

The huge ant starts talking, "I dislike very much the current situation I find myself in. I also find the growing urge to... hit your face, very fascinating. I am not an expert on human faces and the emotions they try to show, yet, for some reason, the face he currently has and the look in his eyes annoy me very much."

He pauses and snaps his mandibles a few times before continuing in a firm voice. "Doubling rewards is impossible, as it would be rewarding you for something you haven't done and have only planned. A lot could change. Some of you could die, or next time you could fail, unlike this attempt. Yet, I take the possibility of having to interfere with the body again as a threat, and with Greed backing you, I cannot coerce you to give up the idea. So, given no other reasonable choice, I will increase the rewards, and I will require Greed to vow that she kills you and anyone trying to help you in the future if you still try to do that."

"No problem from my side," Ruby says way too easily. "I vow."

Diligence seems to be satisfied and nods. "As for the rewards, it won't be anything outrageous. You have already received experience. So, as with the others before, I have to remind you that we negotiate rewards in place of items that you might have been able to get and which were all pulled out."

"Got it. Five active ski..."

"No."

"I want to unlock mid pristine passives and items."

"No. Low pristine is the limit of the tutorial, with only a small chance of getting a mid pristine item in Beyond."

"I want you to free Zant and give him to me."

"Wha... No."

"You hesitated. I almost got you. Just give..."

"I said no."

"As part of the twins' rewards for not connecting the rot to the Dhampir in the future, I want you to help them with their problem."

"Problem?" Diligence asks. "Let me check the records." He pauses, and a second later, he shakes his head. "I see how it is. In a way, they were quite lucky. Had it not been for their strong connection, something like that would not be possible. But what you ask for is nearly impossible and requires much. The best way to solve this would be on their own, but that would require the level of an Absolute’s personal power. Even then, they would never solve it fully, and they would in a way always remain a single being."

Ruby joins the conversation from next to him. "There are a few who could help. Out of them, the more reasonable and available ones are people like the Magi, Kindness, or the Elf."

"No other Rulers?" I ask.

"There are some, but what you ask for requires forcing the system to acknowledge a new addition after it was erased. It is not that simple. In a way, the system makes things that break its rules more difficult for a Ruler to do, or it comes at a greater cost."

"Isn't Kindness also a Ruler?"

Diligence answers this time, sounding almost amused. "She is a most exceptional case, even among us Rulers. As part of their reward for the future misbehavior they now won’t do, I will ask Iant to become their handler and offer guidance."

"Your naming sense aside... thank you," I say, realizing once again that there is no simple solution and it is something to deal with later. Well, we will get there. "I also want five million shards for every Group 4 member and twenty million for the twins."

"Not a chance. Half a million for each group member. And taking into consideration their ability and the possibility of using their skill in such a way, ten million to the twins, plus reasonable assistance from Iant, who will have access to my knowledge."

"400 thousand shards, and some cool, useful eyepatch for Tess."

"Deal."

"Good."

"Agreed."

"Good," I repeat, making it seem like I am putting it off while I stare down the huge pest. "Two low pristine passives, The Chronometric Formula of Planetary System Awakening, and twenty million shards for me."

"Just the formula has hundreds of times higher value than anything you could have done in Beyond. I remind you that the reward is for items, and I still consider it generous. I have taken into consideration that many of the strongest lurkers were around the place or nearby where you were, so you would have been able to gain quite a few before anyone else arrived. But do not overestimate it, as the value would be split between all of you. One low pristine passive and five million shards."

"Add two trait strengthening tokens of up to 3rd stage and, please, remove the low arcane Passive Skill Combination Token I have in status. It really annoys me seeing it there."

"Only one trait strengthening token, and up to 2nd stage only. And it is not as simple to remove something from your status as you might think. Taking away power given by the system is anything but simple. However, I can make a workaround and make it possible for you to give up on it and sell it to the system shop."

"I want to sell it for a million shards."

A chitin leg strikes the floor. "One shard. If you persist, I will put in the effort to modify your rewards. Should you be offered an upper arcane passive or anything similar in the future, I will ensure it is replaced by one thousand low rare passive skill combination tokens. I will make them impossible to sell, so they occupy your status permanently."

My eyes widen, and I look at the Ruler as if I might be seeing him for the first time. Then I slowly nod in acknowledgement. I can respect that.

"Deal," I say out loud.

His attention switches to Lily, who continues to smile happily as he asks in a much calmer tone, "A low pristine passive? I take into consideration you were not present when the items were available to take, so this is mostly to stop you from doing it in the future and to stop the possibility of you adding something even worse."

Lily looks at me. Seeing me shrug, she says, "I will take that, but please make Iant be really helpful to the twins."

"I keep my word," the ant says. "With the deal made, I will take my leave."

And as he says it, he is gone as if running away, together with Zant, leaving me, Lily, and Ruby behind. I still stare at where he stood, not believing that blatant favoritism and the way he offered a fair and decent reward to Lily, considering her participation, while I had to fight for mine.

"You know, I got flashbanged by the notifications when they came. I panicked and forgot how to turn them off, so I faceplanted into a building," Lily blames me playfully.

"Poor building," I say, ignoring a playful punch from her that I have to defend against for my dear life, while acting as if it is nothing. "What level are you?" I ask.

"I reached 405. I hoped to get a few more achievements before my third trait, but I guess even this will count. I think I already noticed some interesting options."

"Well, at least Diligence forgot about giving you a lesson or something."

"Oh, he did not. The entire time he was talking, he kept berating me. Though he was much nicer than my handler. He isn't as bad as you made him out to be, Nat." She smiles at me.

Lily doesn’t get to say more after that before she disappears, making me turn to Ruby, who is looking at me from behind her table.

"I don't like thieves,” she says with a smile, “Oh, and congratulations. You are the 18th highest level attendee in the past thousand years. You can go finish your boys' trip, but after you are done, I have a thousand year quest for you, so make some time in your schedule."

TFTC!

Twotons

I’ve been trying for last week to be the first to love ❤️ this chapter or any just way too slow🤦

ShyviaAngel

Im dying ahhh nath has duch a punchable face the intent even go crossspecies

Im Juiced

Your either the fastest reader or did this asap

Im Juiced

Nat being our master manipulator😁

Oaktree

“Even now, before we pulled you here, some attendees were lucky enough to loot some, and a few groups even got to live thanks to the lurkers suddenly dying.” Was this made from my comment on the ding apocalypse,? Pov some random on the first floor. Crap crap crap what the hell why did my luck just run out, I think as my team and I are surrounded by multiple ??? Lurkers. 8 lurkers against the 5 of us only one of us is over level 300. I can tell just from looking that they are covered in arcane weapons and gear. I can see in the faces of my team that they clearly understand the situation no all of us are coming out of this if any of us have a chance at all. … I watch as the blade of the lurker comes towards my head there’s nothing in can do to stop it. Everyone else is barely keeping themselves alive. The lurker just drops all of a sudden as i stare in shock that im still alive. It takes me a moment to realize that all of the lurkers are dead. Looking around the confused faces of my surprisingly still alive teammates. Free loot and still alive we must be the luckiest people ever

vEnviouz

I'm not at liberty to disclose such information

HeadpatsOnly

holy shit that was amazing haha

ShyviaAngel

Can only imagine how much fun Smugthaniel is having

Sushitrash

Diligence learned how to deal with his nonsense

Daniel Francis

I love how Nat is always looking after Group 4.

Irithyll

Yup, Lily's handler is definitely some1 special

I Is Patron

Morwag also mad at Dilligence for destroying the armory and robbing him of the battles🤣

The Arcane Emperor

Lol, he is calling MorMor a lunatic for advancing his class while talking with the rulers, while Nat himself is upgrading his blood at the same time. I love the guy.

Manaless

Ruby recognizing that Lilly is a thief, I knew there would be some friction between the two, only Lily doesn't know she has competition. You know Nat's rewards are ceasing to be meaningful.

Thien T

Should've seen it coming. Extorting a Ruler in broad daylight is such a Nat thing to do. “I tried. Every mind I attempted to assign that work to rejected it.” Understandable, AccountANThaniel is just not meant to be.

Nemesis

She just shrugs. “He is always such a little shit when he is in a good mood.” She then looks at me. “There weren’t tens of millions of lurkers. Why don’t you have one of your minds comb through the notifications and count them?” “I tried. Every mind I attempted to assign that work to rejected it.” Ruby blinks, and I calmly face her. OMFG! 🤣

Ivan Jelenić

Awesome! Can't wait for their conversation after they get back together. Meeting Rulers and talking/negotiating with them... while Nat was doing that the whole time.

Terri Harris

I love how Nat is impressed by his threat of extreme pettiness, and immediately caves recognizing how much he would hate that. By my count Nat should be able to upgrade his blood twice and his eyes the 2nd time now. He really needs some 3rd stage strengthening tokens. So fun!! TFTC!

Nemesis

Wow, did we just get confirmation that Ruby has romantic feelings for Nat? The way she dismissed Lily and made that comment about thieving? I assume she means a 'thieving cat'?

Skye

Nat

Thien T

When the most demon demon to ever demon is about to be gone, he just says to the confused Ruler of Diligence, "I still have not forgotten the battle you robbed me of." Ain't no way Mormor still believes Diligence was responsible for burying the Armory. Gaslighthaniel is getting too powerful.

Nemesis

To be fair, Nat basically made that one easy for him

Natalie

I think so, since he pulled almost verbatim my comment about lily getting flashbanged by the dingpocolypse (I'm not even mad)

Levi

GASLIGHTHANIEL. I'm screaming right now.

Nemesis

This may be a serious contender for the chapter that has made me snort with laughter the most

Gutz

Oh i was wondering why he was sweating too! nice catch!

Reign

I question Ruby's capacity for love in the typical sense. I see it more as being possessive (if still affectionate), she is Greed after all.

Joken

Was it not said way earlier that she make the “mistake” and consumed the feelings and emotions of her tutorial imprint?

Chun

What are his current upgrade counts? Didn’t he also just upgrade his blood in this chapter. I’m honestly quite lost as to what tokens he has and what stages his traits are currently at.

Chun

Huh so level 440 is the 18th highest level attendee in the past thousand years. Damn, I wonder where Morwag ranks then since hes level 456, is that enough to push him into the top 10? Though I don’t doubt Nat might be able to come close to first place since he still has around a year left and the 13th floor is supposed to be crazy.

Nerø

Kindness is Nyssa's.

Tyler Engelke

I get the feeling that Ruby feels more like a sibling in a way to Nat, because they both were apprentices under the same master (who even as an imitation DID clap Ruby as a Ruler).

Nemesis

I feel like there HAS to be better than mid pristine stuff somewhere in the Tutorial. If there is a copy of a Fragment of the First Star that is THAT powerful in the 13th floor then there MUST be some items of equal power SOMEWHERE

NatXLily

claiming her spot... calling lily a thief...

Al

I completely missed that haha

Antony Silva

Love Dili and Nat bickering, they will surely become buddies in the future.

Madje Tobi Marc'Avent Tchona

What did Savant ask that was so borderline envious that Envy wanted him? That dude Savant always up to something….

Madje Tobi Marc'Avent Tchona

"Add two trait strengthening tokens of up to 3rd stage and, please, remove the low arcane Passive Skill Combination Token I have in status. It really annoys me seeing it there." "Only one trait strengthening token, and up to 2nd stage only. And it is not as simple to remove something from your status as you might think. Taking away power given by the system is anything but simple. However, I can make a workaround and make it possible for you to give up on it and sell it to the system shop." "I want to sell it for a million shards." A chitin leg strikes the floor. "One shard. If you persist, I will put in the effort to modify your rewards. Should you be offered an upper arcane passive or anything similar in the future, I will ensure it is replaced by one thousand low rare passive skill combination tokens. I will make them impossible to sell, so they occupy your status permanently." Can anyone explain this part? Is this punishment, threat or reward? I don’t understand why this would be a good thing? Is Nat too good now for a arcane passive?

Kelto

So... Nat has two pristine passives waiting for him right? One from this chapter and one as last floor reward

jobe matula

Omg I'm laughing so hard at the face comment from diligence 🤣🤣🤣 people are looking at me wondering why I just burst into laughter out of nowhere 🫣 lol anyway back to the story.. I just had to say that

ariel maoz

If you don't have kow arcane passives, this token becomes useless, because you will need to sell two mid/high arcane passives, buy two low arcane and combine them, which will hurt nat, having 1000 tokens will clatter his interface making it very very annoying

RJ Barnes

From what I understand Nat is doing what he can to remove his reliance on the system and his pride makes him want to upgrade things on his own. Not always the case but yeah

Thien T

It's a Low Arcane passive COMBINATION token, which would require 2 up to Low Arcane passives to be used. And since Nat has 1 Mid Epic passive and the rest are Mid Arcane or higher it's functionally useless to him.

Nemesis

I think that is correct

Nemesis

Probably something to make him more like Nat?

Ansordia

Poor building INDEED!

Kenny

I think we actually met two of the high levels, the two lurkers that were with the Dhampir. One was 466 and the other 471. Unless they were locals that has to be among the highest levels, excluding probably Christoph.

Blooper

I think the Low Arcane Passive would need two passives of that level (or lower) to be used, but Nat is already full of Upper Arcanes and Low Pristines, rendering such a token "useless". It would only be good if he somehow could create a personalized lower-arcane combination that surpasses upper rarities in some specific situation...

TheOne320

What would a "thousand year quest" even mean? A quest that is only available every 1000 years or a quest that takes 1000 years but with Nat somehow not aging?

Worros

The Liss of the tutorial had lost her ambition and will to involve herself with people and her planet. I remember Ruby saying something like "Don't let yourself something something and end up like master", my guess is Liss battles Pride and dies following the floor 2 events. I think Nat breaking Liss's lassitude and bringing her master truly "back to life" affected floor Ruby a lot, and Ruler Ruby moreso with regrets about the events following floor 2 she couldn't influence.

Thien T

Maybe a quest that nobody has managed to complete in a thousand years?

Edmund Dillon

Tftc!!! Dealthaniel was locked in!😂

Mega Mike

Ever hear of a 500 year flood? In insurance terms, it means that the likelihood of such an event occurring is 1 in 500. So, I suspect the quest is more about difficulty and/or nat has hit the conditions necessary to make the quest available. The beyond/tutorial lasts 5 years so a quest lasting longer than the tutorial is unlikely.

YaBoiiSloth

She might have been referring to Diligence. Anytime he has affected or changed Nats rewards she has been there to enforce a better deal.

DeadbearKill

Maybe it’s in a time box and time moves differently there

Matt Corcoran

I refuse he didn't try to get info about biscuit as a reward! Or ask for a piece of Ancient Void Deer Jerky that biscuit would surely travel through any system restrictions to acquire.

Kirin

Thank you for the chappie!

YaBoiiSloth

Wait, hasn't he asked Diligence for a 5 skill combination token before? lol I feel like that's not the first time he's brought it up.

Gabriël Rabaut

Yeah he did, I believe it was after the Beyond quest where he had to hunt the First Elf and barely got the Fragment of the First Star in the pristine cage

xlejdez.

It's already been explained. There are thousand, hundred etc. years quests in the beyond. It just means a quest that has not been completed for at least that many years. We know that Nyssa for example has done one.

AL

Yeah this one had me laugh quite loud

Yells@Clouds

Nat made a vow to Dill that the ruler could have one of Ruby’s items if Zant had to step in to control the rot. And Zant had to do exactly that when Lilly made the rot more potent. Nat is responsible for her loss, essentially making him a thief.

Andrew

Thank you!

TBONEMAN

Nat must have upgraded his blood to prepare for the fight with morwag

Jimbo

Our favorite Ant is trolling Nat

Jimbo

Every one of this mind is an asshole.

Jimbo

Somewhere in the last 20 chapters, Nat fell hard for Lilly.

Jimbo

He means lunatic in an admiring way. Nat loves MorMor, really

Jimbo

Why would Diligence DO that? :)

Rodmin

I loved it so much when Nat asked for Zant!

Sean

Why do I get the feeling these negotiations are going to become more frequent now that Nat is nearing the end of his tutorial.

Gwiddion

There was a chapter not so long ago where Nat met kindness and she explained why she's distancing herself as much as possible from any healer that has the potential to achieve the same feat as herself. She doesn't want to be their cinderbear for them. As she studied him for her immortality

Melih

I'm expecting Dennis to be stronger than most of the Kings by the 4th tournament. 1- With 10 million shards he can buy 5 Upper Arcane Passives. Since Upper Arcane Passives start at 2 million and can go up a bit in price, he might need an extra 1-2 million, hopefully the 1.5 million he previously got thanks to Nat is still sitting around somewhere. 2- His stats doubled since Aaron transferred all of his stats to him. 3- His computational power also increased significantly thanks to the increase in memory. 4- He also has a low pristine item. "Aurelia Aegis-Gem (Low Pristine) - A tiny gemstone that grafts itself to the center of the forehead. It acts as an anchor for the wearer's consciousness while also greatly strengthening the body's natural barrier. Any attempt to disrupt the wearer’s mana or internal biological functions is instantly negated, ensuring the wearer remains immune to most forms of cognitive or other interference."

blaw

Do only attendees get revived as lurkers? There were a lvl 15 and 19 in the notification in the ding-pocalyse. If not those might have been locals or people that used tokens to visit the Beyond after their tutorial. Nat already got one of those visitor tokens.

Irithyll

I mean, trying to integrate other ppl's good stuff into himself constantly is probably 100% within the scope of Envy

Raymond

Have we heard of the Chronometric Formula of Planetary Awakening before? I get the name is somewhat self explanatory - but can anyone tell me of past references?

Irithyll

I'd expect cerim to keep a few chapters in advance on their end, but maybe I'm wrong

Thien T

Christoph/Adrian mentioned it before. It's something he presumably used to calculate and estimate when and which planet will be awakened by the System. That's how he chose to be reincarnated on earth in anticipation of entering the Tutorial again.

Vance

I was also surprised biscuit wasn’t mentioned. I can’t stop thinking about what is going on with him.

Chun

I don’t think it’s possible for a level 10-20 attendee to enter beyond. Nat was only able to enter the first beyond trial on the third floor of the tutorial, naturally by then he was way past level 20. Even if savant was in the beyond chat before Nat I highly doubt he was that much faster. And the requirements to qualify for beyond were to combine skills, use a difficulty upgrade token (which was a reward for beating the second floor iirc), and something else. So it’s definitely locals who were revived as lurkers.

Josh Betts

Was that jealousy I smelled for ruby lmao

Vance

a quick recap of that would be very helpful at start of next chapter or soon thereafter

William Johnson

If he's 18th I wonder how high ranked Mormor is?

Nate 3000

I agree, I think the first question should be, "Where is Biscuit?!"

Worros

That explains the thief comment and probably the 1000 year quest depending on the item Diligence took.

iang

only 1 upgrade for each trait as of yet

Boyo

The dynamic between Nat and Diligence has to be one of my favorites we’ve seen yet in the story.

SqrlyGrly

Book 6 chapter 33 My handler shakes her head, her red-tinged black hair flowing around her, as she watches for my reaction. The information must have really been juicy for her to even bother. “Beyond quests will allow you to leave the tutorial for a certain time, usually a few days, to work on a quest commissioned by someone on the outside. I’ve even gone through some of them; there are a few you might like, all with really nice rewards. The higher the rank you reach in Beyond, the better the quests you’ll gain access to—and trust me, some of them are truly fascinating. These could include anything from quests that no Beyond attendee has completed in a hundred years, thousand-year-old challenges, and many more.”

ForgottenDreams

Don't forget he got bit by the werewolf so he has that as an option

Josh Cothran

He could be referring to Dili making Nat throw that black mana at the night monster thing 😂 Dili made him do it, and the creature retreated

Greg Lambert

Zant and Biscuit would be the best of friends

frozzi

He has some stockpile of chapters and even few test readers. But he also takes some good jokes from comments, so who knows if it was in unredacted version

Fdrugc

"Oh, he did not. The entire time he was talking, he kept berating me. Though he was much nicer than my handler. He isn't as bad as you made him out to be, Nat." She smiles at me." I thought kindness would be kindner

tyhuko

She is under Wrath, not Kindness

Thien T

Her handler is Wrath not Kindness. Kindness is Nyssa's handler.

Corac

Agreed

Corac

Thanks that was a remarkable clear explanation amd helped. I had the same question so thanks. I constantly find that Cerim has some of the best people in his comments section!

Matthew Statz

Note: they said that's the highest available IN the tutorial. However, when they go on beyond quests, they are actually entirely leaving the totorial. I have zero doubt our fearless author will put such a loophole to great use if he so chooses. Plenty of shenanigans can happen on these beyond quests.

Lance Beam

TFTC. Diligence confirms Annoyingthaniel has one of the most punchable faces in Beyond. Cerim I formally request the establishment of a most-punchable face leaderboard that is occasionally referred to in the story even if only for Patreon members and at least occasional in-story mentions of Nat’s competitors. I ask my fellow commentators, who have we seen in the story that may be close to the top of the MPF leaderboard? I think Smugdrian at his best/worst should be up there.

Lance Beam

Didn’t Adrian start this tutorial in Beyond?

Nemesis

I meant inside the tutorial. But i was thinking about that. If Nat's class upgrade gave him a class better than low pristine, do you think it would also unlock higher tier passives and items in the shop?

Bandit General

I disagree, Denis doesn’t have the mindset. He doesn’t have any good attack skills. Like dawn, empyrean lance, kinetic, primordial lightning, like he really doesn’t have any super strong offensive skills. I haven’t seen denis did anything crazy, to say. Yep, he’s gonna died by his own hands on day. Like savant has done crazy shit, like absorbing body parts, lily done don’t shit but study biscuit, bat breaks his mind over and over. He basically kill himself, his body is going to kill him. Like these are people who had done things that makes them dangerous. Denis doesn’t have that.

Byebyebirdie

2 chapters ago the shared it with Nat. I think it was 456, and in this one he started his change into a champion or champion level.

Tishane :Imperial MageKiller

Lol lily is wearing Nat down low key and Ruby knows it 🤣 lmaoo 1k Quest is crazy work btw

Byebyebirdie

I think he didn't ask about Biscuit because the best corgi has his trust. No reason to waste rewards that could save the lives of group 4.

Name1

Yeah but it was mentioned multiple times to be extremely rare. Like happens less than they reset the lurker pool (every 1000 years?)

Melih

Police, I don't understand why you're bringing up those names. I don't understand why you're comparing Dennis to them. I'm talking about the Earth Kings outside of Nat, Victoria and Jean. Someone like Klara for example

Name1

I place this as the number one chapter for incredible one liners / dialogue. 👏👏👏Cerim 👏👏👏 Also Nat still has like a third of his tutorial left to get more levels 👀

William Johnson

Yes Morwag's level is 456, but how many people got more levels than that in the tutorial over the past thousand years was my question.

Demantai Howard

Dude a most punchable face leaderboard would totally be something nat would trade information for with spark and marble in that one city. Nat would def be #1

Riot89

Does Nat have any low pristine passive combination skill tokens available atm?

Yvng Dante

Don't they still have like a year and a half?

Nemesis

I dont think so. Might get one if he classes up with all his skill slots and passive slots filled? Or at least one of the required slots filled. I am wondering though... the system keeps making note that class upgrade is possible instead of evolution. Maybe upgrading would mean he wouldn't lose Empyrean Lance, but wouldn't get any new skills?

Chun

Yea that’s cause he’s a reincarnated absolute, not in anyway the norm for an attendee 😭

Bandit General

I don’t really remember klara but, how about that guy with the poison blood, or some other kings. We have seen it multiple times. Where stats isn’t the only thing. Where high level players can be killed with the right mastery of skills

Melih

If he spends those 10 million shards, Dennis will be so far beyond these Kings not just in stats but in passives as well. The low pristine item and computational power are just the cherry on top. I don't think the Kings I'm referring to are ahead enough in active skill levels to offset Dennis's superiority in those areas. What I mean is, I don't think the gap in active skill levels between Dennis and these Kings will be anywhere near as absurd as you're implying. And stats do matter. When one of the twins shared their stats with the other, that twin could move as fast as Tacita in short bursts, we heard that directly from Nat. And that was without sharing all of their stats. Now all of Aaron's stats have been transferred to Dennis. The Tacita Nat was referencing was her state a few months after the 2nd tournament, during the Last Elf quest, the Tacita from a year ago who made a strong A rank like Io sweat with her speed. On top of that, Nat said this 3 months before the 3rd tournament, so 6-7 months ago from now. The twins' control, their use of [Haste] and their stats have certainly grown since then. So using Nat's words as a basis, we can say Dennis is very close to the level of Tacita who was toying with Io in terms of speed, and not just in short bursts. And in my opinion, that's more than enough to take down the Kings I'm referring to

Irvinwop

Reading comprehension sure is rare these days…

Nate 3000

He has to be a Champion before the tutorial ends I think so he can challenge Adrian for Earths Absolute.

Sean

Yes, but so far it looks like they're going to blaze through the rest of the floors and then purposefully not finish the last floor so they can push as far as possible into beyond. Maybe I'm wrong but that's been the general vibe of the last few floors even when things went a little crazy

Death56

Time for a unique pristine passive for nat

xerebz

For sure, Nat's face has been getting him in trouble since the first floor

Riot89

Did he have a spare trait strengthening token sitting around? I forgot. Or did he just get a new one?

Raymond

Thank you

MadeOfCandy

There are probably things stronger than mid-pristine in the tutorial, but it's effectively impossible to acquire them in the tutorial since having it would immediately kill you. Many of the very strong objects Nat has gotten his hands on were only his during the briefest moments he could contain them before he knew a ruler would step in to keep him from exploding and killing everyone. My understanding was that the First Star fragment Nat managed to snag was as powerful as it was because it had been spending a large amount of time cosplaying a sun on it's former owner's home world and had grown into it's current power while remaining there unsealed. The one on the 13th floor is sealed, and while probably capable of cooking into something good, has to be acquired by someone that won't immediately get roasted by it, can contain it while in the tutorial, and can grow strong enough to actual utilize it without causing their planet's final bbq party while trying to show off.

Demi

Why isn't Nat asking for help locating Biscuit?

MadeOfCandy

"Only one trait strengthening token, and up to 2nd stage only." As of 807, Nat currently has two trait strengthening tokens. One token is up to second stage, and the other is up to third stage. His current traits are Preeminence Eyes 2/5, Mana Physique 2/5, Empyrean Ichor 1/5, and it appears that he has started the upgrade to Empyrean Ichor 2/5 during the negotiations while Morwag is undergoing his primary class upgrade. Requesting the two 3rd stage trait tokens makes sense, as he would then have tokens to push all traits to 3/5, but accepting a single token to 2nd stage only would just replace the token he has used to buff Empyrean Ichor, but no traits that it could be used on as his will all be at second stage. Nat doesn't seem like he would have agreed to a reward that he could not utilize, nor would Ruby want him to take a reward that wouldn't increase his potential as her weapon. With the approaching Primary Class upgrade, Nat and Lily's plan to juice/torture him with purified Wyvern blood, and Doc's mystery syringe just itching to be injected directly into his heart I am convinced that this redundant 2nd stage token will be useful in the near future either from a trait evolution of Mana Physique, or something even more ridiculous like gaining a fourth trait through forcibly evolving his mana heart into a demon heart providing kinetic primordial energy or possibly providing him a new, exotic primordial energy and bringing him up to three.

Nate 3000

That would be a serious power upgrade for sure. Thanks for hunting the details down.

Name1

Definitely on track to be a champion maybe even by liss standards but idk about challenging Adrian. He’s going to be completely ready to become an absolute when Nat finally leaves his tutorial, with a planet wide domain already made. I kinda expect Nat will have to take it slower than fighting him immediately

David McCreight

Great catch. I wonder what the plan is. Hopefully this isn’t just a mistake.

shawn B

He got it for finishing the floor quest
