Flashback Biscuit

Pantophagic energy eats the attack of the Weredeer, eats a hole into the 10th floor, into the structure of the tutorial, and all the way out. But that isn't the only force doing so.

After all, it is the floor that belongs to the Ruler of Lust, and she makes sure the hole is wide enough, even putting one of her pets to work. Too excited and too worried that someone will take away the new addition to her menagerie, she leaves the Cerulean Parlor in a hurry, swinging her wings and teleporting to appear on the mark her pet placed.

Now she floats in open space, victoriously golden hair, eyes, and wings wide spread. One of her wyverns that helped is there as well. Adult, yet not that big, barely big enough for the Ruler if she wanted to ride it. Yet, underestimating it would be a grave mistake. The wyvern is pale golden in color with pale red eyes, keeping their target surrounded by a barrier as the Ruler of Lust arrives.

“Good job, my precious,” Lust says lovingly, and the wyvern lets out a deep, happy noise, its red eyes constantly observing the area for danger as well as the tear in space.

“And you, poor little thing,” the Ruler whispers as she touches the barrier and watches the puppy corgi there. “It must have hurt, didn't it?”

The corgi is missing one of its front paws, and its side has a hole in it with a patch of fur missing. With eyes closed, it keeps twitching and whimpering.

“So brave, but so imprudent. But don’t worry,” she whispers, “I will make sure to raise you right, just like my other babies.”

A deep growl warns her, and she quickly follows her wyvern’s gaze that leads towards the nearby star. There, even from this distance, forms a noticeable lash of fire. Out of it, a myriad of small orange sparks shoot, heading to space, spreading further and refusing to be choked out by the cold space.

The feylith’s eyes widen in horror as she snaps an order to her wyvern. Just as they are about to teleport, a growl spreads through the soundless space, making both halt and shattering their attempt to teleport.

The victorious gold of her eyes, wings, and hair is replaced by ash gray as her eyes tick towards the sparks heading their way and the corgi puppy. Her mouth opens and closes a few times as she struggles to make a decision.

And then it is made for her. One of the sparks reaches them and dies off, in its place floating a big gray bear with orange eyes.

The wyvern roars, lunging before Lust can even flinch.

With a casual swat, the bear deflects the strike, sending white lightning arcing into the distance. A spark flickers, and the bear is suddenly, unstoppably, above the wyvern, slamming a massive paw down with a force that shakes the beast’s entire being, and stuns it. It then sinks its teeth into the wing to pin it, shearing through scales thought to be one of the toughest in the universe.

The orange eyes watch the Ruler of Lust while a barrage of attacks crash against the bear as the wyvern struggles to get out. White lightning, projectiles, arrays, mental attacks, spatial cuts. Yet nothing damages the bear as it just bites deeper and shakes the wyvern, which roars in pain while the bear just watches calmly.

“We will leave! Please!” the Ruler of Lust begs and halts all her mana’s movement.

The wyvern stops moving, just hanging there sadly as the bear bites harder and bone cracks, causing it to roar in pain. Even then, no one dares to move.

Only then does the bear let go, and both the wyvern and the feylith disappear as quickly as possible.

The bear, licking its maw covered in wyvern blood, reaches the puppy corgi and shrinks to the size of a normal brown bear. It pokes the place where the corgi is missing a paw with its nose and sniffs a few times. Then it carefully licks the tiny animal.

In the end, it gently bites into the pup’s scruff and lifts it up, and then disappears as the star nearby flares up again.

POV Biscuit´s disciple

It is on a planet set in the forgotten parts of the universe, those on the edge of one of the biggest battlefields of the System War. It is a battlefield where many gods died, with currents of many energies coloring the galaxies like polar lights and mana still not functioning as it should.

On one of these planets, a young pitch black wolf with golden eyes stands, overlooking the far stretching plains of one of the oldest planets in the universe. Waiting for his prey, he has his head lifted, sniffing the scents the wind carries until he feels something unexpected, but familiar.

The wolf moves quickly, lowering down into an incredibly fast sprint, with slight flashes of his primordial energy devouring the space in front of him to make his leaps that much longer.

Tracking that smell, he barges into the quiet, dark forest where some trees are older than planets, and halts when he notices a single orange spark. The wolf does not hesitate much and follows it for a few minutes. There, on the moss and under an oak like tree, he finds a tiny puppy corgi, and the orange spark disappears.

“Master!” The wolf shouts and jumps closer, poking the tiny animal with his nose repeatedly, but quickly calming as he realizes the corgi is just unconscious.

After looking around, the wolf sits down and looks around once again, golden eyes narrowing as his primordial energy reaches towards the puppy.

He sighs. ”Oh, master, I have told you to be careful about how much you use.”

The wolf shrinks a little and pulls out one of the enormous leaves from the tree to put it on the ground. Then, very carefully, he pushes his master on the leaf with his nose, the corgi barely taking up half of the leaf.

“The Elders will be angry, and the Great Elder probably already noticed a change to our primordial energy, but it doesn't matter!” The black wolf begins to shrink further and further. It continues until he is of a size comparable to the puppy corgi: a tiny wolf pup with fuzzy fur and a round belly.

“You are very young, master! But powerful. I always thought you could carry our will, be someone to use our energy with a strength none of us can, and take revenge in our stead!”

The wolf pup grabs the stem of the leaf and begins to pull it, together with the corgi puppy on top.

He still talks, though his voice is muffled because of the stem in his mouth. “Ebwen if your primordibal energy is gone now, you are stwill my mbaster! Bubt don't worry, we will help you gebt it back!”

POV Tess Hansen

Maybe I should declare for myself that the desert is nicely cold with a constant breeze. Would something like that even work with that mysterious skill of mine, I wonder?

I stop to take a break, making sure to keep my mana signature hidden and my body tucked behind one of the rocks. I’m confident I drank more water already on the 11th floor than I did in my previous time in the tutorial combined, even if I drank not long ago, I take out my bottle and take a small sip, stopping myself from drinking more.

Peeking from behind the boulder, I look in the direction where I’m heading. My sight strengthens and expands, and my eyes zoom in multiple times until I see that structure again. It is 50 or so miles away. Ambient mana bounces off the structure and the walls, offering shielding that doesn't allow me to see mana signatures inside.

I sweep the area again and then dash forward, turning into crackling lightning as I keep myself low, jumping from stone to stone. My speed gradually increases to the point where it is almost as fast as teleportation would be.

When I stop, I’m still a dozen miles away, but I don’t need to go closer. I already see everyone outside as if they stood in front of me. With me just using my senses, they can’t sense any probing, and I take full advantage of it.

What I’m looking at, we think, belongs to the Aurate Consortium, also called the Corporation, outside of the tutorial.

Even here, during the time the record of this floor was made, they are one of the most powerful, and I’m waiting to see their Adjudicator to confirm my suspicion. We are on the day side of this tidally locked planet, so no matter how long I wait, no cool, refreshing night will contest this heat, nor hide my signature. Yet all I can do for now is wait and hide.

I calm my breathing too, slowing down my heartbeat to just a few beats per minute, and my mana barely moves anymore. Even my body is perfectly still as the sand gathers against me. I don’t blink or use my [Psychokinesis] as sand gets into my unblinking eye, while the other one remains behind an eyepatch. The entire time, I hold my breath.

And the Adjudicator finally comes. Out of the sky, a bright white plate-shaped flying object comes, stopping near the base. At the bottom of this object, a hole opens, and multiple figures drop down. Almost all of them are wearing suits with tubes on them, and some even have containers on their backs.

But one of them doesn't wear that suit. Instead, the Adjudicator is just as it was described to me by one of the talnium searching groups I met.

The Adjudicator has a womanly figure, and unlike everyone else's pale colors, she wears a black jumpsuit that covers her entire body, even her head, even with dark glass covering her eyes. But that jumpsuit is now damaged because of the likely fights she got into.

My heartbeat slows down even further until it stops fully, and I forcefully stop myself from shaking. A small lizard runs across my skin as I stand there, while they make their way into the building that then leads to tunnels underground. Even then, I stay ten minutes longer, not daring to move.

Only then do I allow my heart to beat slowly and gradually. The process takes a few minutes for me to return to normal. It is not as easy to use as someone like Tacita’s or Lyraen’s field, but I’m confident it is something I have a better chance to use to hide from someone with good senses like Nathaniel.

Once all is back, I explode into movement and turn to lightning, moving back much faster than before and taking a roundabout way to make sure I’m not tracked.

But my run slows down as, in the hazy burning air of the desert, I spot the figure wearing the black jumpsuit standing on top of one of the dunes. My eyes get pulled to her face, confirming she is looking straight at me.

The mask of the jumpsuit is half burned and torn, revealing fair skin, golden hair, and violet eyes. Even shown partially, the face is beautiful.

As quickly as I can, I lift my hand with the Ring of Preserved Status on it, and a thousand red and white lightning projectiles form behind my back. The crown over my head dissolves, and the sunny day becomes darker as storm clouds block out the light.

Yet I still hold, keeping my hand in the air and ready to swing it down. I giggle when I feel my quickly beating heart and smile, moving a strand of hair off my face as we stand, facing each other. It is so scary.

The Adjudicator moves first, and half of my projectiles shoot ahead as she begins to weave in between them, breaking some and taking direct hits from others. They splash against her, merely damaging her jumpsuit while leaving her skin untouched.

If I had to compare her movement to anyone, it would be to Lily. She is faster than her, but she doesn't move like Tacita. Her movements are just like our healer’s, powered by an incredibly powerful body, straining and tearing the muscles only for them to heal so quickly that no wounds even show.

I shoot the other half of the projectiles and turn around to burst into a dash that turns to lightning as I head forward in a straight line, continuing to pick up speed. The storm clouds twist like a whirlpool, and from them, lightning crackles in a blink, reaching me and hitting the space over my head where the crown reforms.

Before I can even react, she is behind me, stabbing her hand into the lightning and forcing me to materialize as she pulls back.

My fist, covered with lightning, crashes against her face, but she doesn't even bother avoiding it. She takes the hit expressionlessly, and her hand moves, slamming an open palm against my chest as I drop reinforcement on the rest of my body and focus it all on the area she hits again.

My heart stops beating, and my lightning cracks within me, restarting it as I take a deep breath and activate one of Lily’s healing marks. Lightning surrounds me as I duck under one of her attacks, concentrating on moving faster and slamming my hand against her chest with as much power as I can, and breaking my hand.

The Adjudicator just shrugs it off and follows me as I attempt to flee. She grabs my leg to slam me against the ground and stomps on my chest as I defend again with all I have. Under that confusing attack, my heart stops beating again, and my lightning kickstarts it once more, this time slower.

I use another healing mark from Lily. With mana oscillating across my hand, I cut off the leg she holds, turning into a streak of lightning, white and red, trailed by the further red of my blood.

From the ring, I pull another attack: a small cube that expands quickly, locking her in a cage made of lightning. My crown disappears again, pulling the clouds from the sky just as she pushes through, with all of it failing to damage or stun her at all, and just slowing her.

I stop, and my rapid heartbeat calms down as I watch her. There is just a tiny bit of mana in her body, I can tell, as my eyes finally pierce through. She has no heart, and there is a small box in the middle of her chest instead, a mana battery to power just the tiny bit of skill she uses. It is something that also receives communication from the base.

And that’s all. She barely uses that mana, the rest is just from the power of that body. The strength of those muscles and the insane regeneration.

This time, I fly high into the air, and two more healing marks restore my leg as I look down at her. And of course, she jumps up. She then leaps off the air itself towards me. Not with mana, but by stepping against the air itself so fast and powerfully that it becomes solid ground.

As she heads higher and higher, I reach my hand towards the sky, towards the clouds, and then beyond them. Much further beyond them. Towards a javelin made of endurium in orbit of this planet. I have declared it mine, and so it is my extension.

My lightning crackles and appears around it as I swing my hand down with all the power I can gather. And then I continue to add more. I pull on it with all my force, filling it with more lightning.

My floating golden hair swims around my head, blocking a part of my view, and just as she is about to reach me, the sky screams. The dark clouds are pierced and disappear as a straight line is drawn down, attempting to catch up to the javelin. It slams against her. At least, I think it does. Even I can’t track it with my eyes, but the next moment, just before she is about to attack me, she is gone.

The entire sand dune under me explodes outward and then further. All of the sand rises up into the air as a wave, taking more and more dunes as a hole is dug into the base of the black rock underneath.

And down there, I see movement.

So I pull another javelin, drawing a straight red and white line that slams there with the loud cracking of lightning that shreds the silence and sends sonic waves tearing outward.

Then a third, all of them hitting the very same spot the size of a coin, but the movement doesn’t stop.

I watch her broken arm simply become healed, and the hole in her chest close. I don’t even see the process. One moment there is damage, and the next she is healed.

I allow my [Psychokinesis] to feed on my mana, and all that sand and red rock rise into the air to plug the hole in hopes of slowing her down, and rush away.

Giving it a thought, I decide it’s not enough, I can’t leave a chance for her to track me to the others. I will deal with the consequences of using the token this way later.

Sset (Hell, group 4) - I will be going to Beyond.

I send the message in the Community before I use my token, appearing in the headquarters of the Silent Veil. Me leaving should clear the tracks and make the natives forget they were tracking someone.

Looking around my clean but spartan like room, I check the mirror, clean myself up, and change clothes before heading out. The headquarters isn’t big, as this guild never has too many members, and everyone is A rank at least. But it is cozy, with a lot of red color and dark brown wood.

I’m early, but there are already a few members preparing for the expedition to the 5th floor in a few days, and I greet a few of them with a smile, even as I still feel my hand shaking and heart beating wildly, but I force myself to keep my expression calm.

I wonder how many of them know that the Adjudicator is Kindness’s clone, likely grown from the flesh The Corporation has access to. And I wonder how much goodwill or shards I can get for sharing this information.

Small Talk Only - Live Podcast

19 million concurrent viewers

“Rafael, and here we are again. Is this our fourth time? It has been almost a month since the last time anyone saw you, and we were getting worried. I also bet that today is the day when Septa will let me pet her. So, how do you enjoy your role as Christoph’s Herald? You know that's what they call you?” Faye Hard smiles at him while sitting very comfortably in her chair.

Meanwhile, Channeler, also Rafael by his real name and now the man called a herald, sits in a similarly comfortable manner, though he is wearing a black shirt that is unbuttoned to show his collarbones, and his sleeves are rolled up. His golden hair is a bit longer than previously, and he continues to smile in that nonchalant, confident manner.

“‘Herald’ has a nice ring to it, even if it’s a bit dramatic. And as for Septa, I’m afraid she’s a bit of a snob when it comes to new friends.” He says while he looks at the spider that stands on the table in the distance of the set that looks like a living room.

As if listening up until now, one of the spider’s legs, which reaches up to a human’s knee, moves and flicks a vase off the table.

Faye doesn’t even seem surprised and smiles charmingly. It doesn't even seem like she is aware of the viewers from the way she behaves, though she knows those numbers very well. After all, every word from the man she sits against represents another man, a man that some groups have even started to worship and whom many leaders, under pressure or fear, have begged to become their leader.

Still, she doesn’t get to the point she wants to talk about and tries to keep the conversation light. She controls herself by keeping a calming smile on her face, but at times her fear becomes noticeable, at least to the man sitting against her.

At one point, they play a game where she reads the comments left under videos of individual tutorial attendees. At this point, there are many such videos, and some of the attendees have become famous, mostly the ones still in the tutorial, even if those who already returned as superhumans scare and fascinate many.

“And now to the last set of comments,” Faye catches up, seeming a bit embarrassed, and her smile becomes a bit more honest as she says, “The first one reads ‘i can fix him’ and is followed by another comment that has a dog licking its lips emote and text saying: ‘I can make him worse.’”

“Faye, seriously, I refuse to answer this one,” he says for the first time, and both of them laugh.

As that laugh slowly dies off, Faye takes a deep breath and says in a quieter voice, “I have to say, what Christoph has done surprised all of us, Rafael.”

“Let’s be honest, Faye. You don't have to be careful with me. That’s why I’m here.”

“It is scary, you know.”

“I get that. I really do,” Rafael nods, his smile turning gentle and reassuring.

“He killed many people that day, Rafael. And-”

“May I?”

“Please.”

Channeler sits a bit more upright, and his smile weakens. “I think a little bit of fear is reasonable. People should be afraid because what is happening to Earth is scary. We are currently Pairing with not just one planet, but two. Just yesterday, I shared information with our Vice President that the gravitational pull of Earth will continue to get stronger. The moon will soon be pulled closer, and in the following months, it will continue to be pulled closer until it breaks apart.”

“And why did you talk to the Vice President and not the President, Rafael?”

“Because the President was part of the problem Christoph had to deal with. Along with several other leaders who weren't up for what's coming.” He leans closer, holding her gaze with a calm intensity.

The number of viewers jumps up as people continue to join and watch, some out of fear, others out of curiosity.

In the past month, a lot has changed.

“Faye,” Rafael continues in a smooth, confident voice, “Christoph is capable of things you haven't even seen yet. He’s going to handle the moon so it doesn't rain down on us. He’s the one who’s actually going to keep us safe as the Pairing progresses. I know it’s a violent change, and that’s hard to swallow, but…”

He stops and smiles while shaking his head. “Words do not matter. Neither of us is a politician promising one thing and doing another. We will let our acts speak. But Faye, I’m sure you are aware, what did the people that died have in common?”

“They were widely acknowledged as corrupt.”

“Exactly. And look at the streets. Was anyone else targeted? Were any homes destroyed? Did we hit a single person who was just trying to live their life?”

Faye shakes her head, and Rafael continues, “The world is better off without those people. They were parasites, leaders who hoarded everything while everyone else struggled, warmongers, people who didn't even see the rest of us as human, and-"

The conversation then continues for longer. Rafael answers many questions, including plenty from an audience that doesn't hold back. Many ask what gives him the right to decide, others ask how confident they are that the people who died were truly bad, and others ask how anyone can be sure some people weren't just killed because they simply stood in the way.

Rafael answers all of it, calmly and confidently in his own words, but with an attitude that doesn't make him seem defeated, answering them or like he is being judged. He is there just to inform.

Once it is all over, he leaves the set and is driven to the airport, where he boards a private jet.

Just as the doors of the plane close, he freezes, seeing a well-kept man who seems to be in his early 40s sitting there with Septa near him already. They stare at each other, and Channeler then sits down across from him as the plane begins its taxi for launch.

“I have to thank you, I personally wouldn’t be so patient,” Christoph smiles, and Rafael answers.

“I hate it.”

“You will get used to it,” the man sitting opposite him says, looking out the window. “Most of these people will stay just a human, and die in fifty or sixty, maybe seventy years. Even if some of them get brave enough to level up a few times or if healers spread medicine through, they will live just over a hundred or two hundred years.”

The plane shakes, and the lights on the launchpad show, reflecting inside the cabin.

“It won't take that long, and everyone on the planet will be people who were born after the Earth’s awakening and who grew up under our leadership. All this complaining, all these people talking about democracy, religions, countries... To us, it will be remembered as... a fleeting nuisance.”

POV Warden of the Parallax Eyes, Kyralon

I take my eyes off what is happening on Earth and allow them to deactivate, cutting the power to my tower and to the field, strengthening my sight. As the hum continues to weaken without any power sources, I turn to watch Greed, who is sitting nearby, drinking one of the best alchemical wines I have been saving.

Greedy as she is, she almost never uses her own when free ones are available for her to take.

“What happened?” I ask her, curious about her visit.

Ruby looks at me before taking another long sip and looks at the glass in her hand. “Pride just cleared the 14th floor of Beyond.” She watches the liquid slosh. “And I have learned that the First Dungeon has 20 floors, so at least that is nice.”

“But that isn’t all, is it?” I ask.

“It is not,” she shakes her head, throws away her glass, and takes long sips straight out of the bottle. “All of the Rulers got a quest to kill the Ruler of Pride. The rewards are one of his active skills at its current level, given even if you have 10 skills already, and an upgrade token.”

Author Note: A chonky 4500-word chapter to end Book 10! I'm a day late and sorry for breaking the schedule, but here it is!

As I mentioned before, I will be going on a 2-week break to get some rest and plan things out. If any of you subbed and got screwed by the timing, just send me a message - I will refund you, no problem!

Also, during the break, I plan to write the side story I promised for the Biscuit plush campaign.

If you bought one, you can join the Discord: https://discord.com/invite/s5ARCv7kfG

It might take a bit, but there will be a special role for plush owners and there might be some voting on the side story. I'm not sure yet, it is difficult to do properly with some buyers being from Patreon and others from RR or SH. But I'm confident the side story will be fun even if I just pick the idea I like, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Thank you all for your support and for reading through 10 books already - just how crazy this is.

Anyway, see you in two weeks with the usual schedule!

TFTC! Guess Pride will really need Nathaniel and Lizzy as his best friends

Oaktree

Is pride trying to break free of the system or was it a challenge for someone to finally beat him? “It is not,” she shakes her head, throws away her glass, and takes long sips straight out of the bottle. “All of the Rulers got a quest to kill the Ruler of Pride. The rewards are one of his active skills at its current level, given even if you have 10 skills already, and an upgrade token.”

Fdrugc

Tftc have a great break.

Fdrugc

Didn't pride clear the 13th and 14th floors of beyond a while ago?

vEnviouz

TFTC!!! I hope you have an excellent 2 weeks!

Joe Woodhouse

Enjoy your rest! Take as long as is needed for a good rest!

M van Dongen

System is being a dick, as usual.

Thien T

Quest to kill the Ruler of Pride? I bet that the System's core is what's at the deepest part of the First Dungeon and Pride waking up and speed running unconquered floors just made it hella nervous.

Nerø

It was the 12th and 13th floor.

Levi

Hype

Manaless

What can be done to receive the refund?

Isaac Lung

[You have defeated Orange Menace - lvl 1]

Manaless

Does anyone have a good reading recommendation for two weeks?

I Is Patron

So its all just a trap then? Get too powerful like Pride and the system will try to kill you?

devall

Have a great break

Konrad Pagacz

Mhm. The quest from System for all rulers to kill pride is somewhat of a letdown in the sense that it alleviates the conflict about it between Ruby and Nathaniel. Greed is no longer potential adversary to other rulers, this quest encourages cooperation, hence less conflict. On the other hand, we finally get Pride more tied into the story, which is good. More relevant I guess. And we know Nathaniel does not really like the system, so if Pride has similar thoughts on it, they might actually team up and this will eventually put him against the rest of the rulers, Ruby included, so it might actually mean more tension and conflict between the two of them. We might even get this - Pride wants to control the system, Nathaniel wants to destroy it, the rest of the rulers oppose Pride. This would make for a truly grandiose finale. Mhm, the possibilities here are very juicy thanks to not explaining everything and letting us guess. You mentioned you wanted to dial the information correctly and I think you got it. Nicely done again, Cerim!

Cam

Parasite boss at the end of the dungeon aye

Youkai-sama

*pft* Even the System don't like that mu'uhfucka. 😆

Karl

Im just sitting here and mentally applauding you! 😁 really a good, perhaps even great chapter.

Konrad Pagacz

It would be even better if Pride's reason for controlloing the system would be to finally create a worthy opponent for him. Imagine Pride being completely battle mad, just looking for a fix and believing that he can transcend the system if he fights enough strong enemies, which drives him towards wanting to control system. Oh what crazy dialogues one could craft :)

Isaac Lung

Did pride challenge the system?

TheOne320

So, Pride is a danger to the system. I hope we will find out more later. I have not yet made up my mind if the system should be removed or protected.

Sergei Hartwig

I think beyond dungeon and maybe floor 20 is the Heart of the System? So they git a quest to stop him?

Terri Harris

Stupid Christoph! & I find myself kind of liking Pride. But I like Greed too. I hate it when two of my friends fight. I think Lust needs to get stomped on, how dare she try to steal the best Corgi ever! And I kind of like Charity/CinderBear, anyone who recognizes Biscuits awesomeness and helps him out must be a good guy. This was a great ending. Loads of stuff to think about. As always, can't wait for more. TFTC! Hope you have a great break!

Gwiddion

I doubt pride wants to control the system. If he was someone that likes to control people he would have taken a far more active role in the going on of the regular tasks the other rulers split between themselves. To me it looks more like that he wants to be free from the system controlling or limiting him in certain aspects. My theory is that after his clash with the real lissandra that was described as his strongest challenge perhaps only overshadowed by the king of the empyrians. He realised that the chance that someone could ever actually challenge him was miniscule. Perhaps because the average strength of absolutes was diminishing over the years. Due to a status quo that everyone accepted. Lissandra always said that today's absolutes where so much weaker than during her time. (Could just be that no regular absolute dared to approach her in her prime but also could be a hint about the general strength of the average absolute) Anyways upon realising that no one would likely challenge his pride at being the strongest he probably changed his focus upon challenging the system as he is to prideful to let it limit him in anyway small as it may be.

Tercius

Great Work man I am ready for the next 10 books. I wish you a restfull break take care my guy :)

Gwiddion

My guess is he was waiting for someone to challenge him and over time realised that the only true challenge he can still face is the system itself. So yes my theory is that he wants to escape the systems grasp. And not by running away outside of system space but by claiming the strength to actually defy the system.

secretchicken

could the quest be pride's reward for clearing the 14th floor? the reward could be being able to issue a quest and that's what he issued

Matt B

Pride cleared the 14th floor, while some rulers haven’t cleared the 12th floor. Which is currently isolated from the rest of Beyond because of Lissandra. Some of them will have to go through her (and the wyvern) if they want to get to Pride. That will be fun

Stoney

TFTC! I still think that Christoph and the pairing is utter BS. Enjoy your break!

Konrad Pagacz

This would be a decent motivation for the character as well. Rile the whole system against him - make everyone have a quest on his head, so he can finally feel challenged. He's still a battle junky though in this scenario. There's nothing in his history that indicates his pride revolves around entities not having control over him, but I guess it could be woven in. The idea that beating the system can be done through it sounds somehow wrong, but it weirdly can send an interesting message about systems of governance in general so I am not opposed to it xd

zoarian

Interesting. My impression of Pride was that he was a System's attack dog given he fought against Empyreans (or at least the Thaumarch). I wonder what he did for the System to issue a quest? Is it clearing Beyond, or something else?

Edmund Dillon

Im ready for the mess!!🥳 Tftc!!!! Great way to start the b-day haha

Morgs

Have a great break dude!

ariel maoz

If im not wrong it is confirmed that the beyond dungeon is the origin of the system, now that we know the dungeon have 20 floors, maybe the parasite is in there, if pride will reach it the system will be in his mercy so it put out the eradication quest

ForwardArrow

Sometimes I wonder what the "point" of the System is. At times it feels like its attempting to level off power between different forces and create one big balance. There are some things that point to this, like a general decline in the strength of Absolutes from Lissandra's time, the way Primordial Energies are "normalized", and now a bounty on Pride's head. But I'm not sure that quite clicks with creating a system of progression that's based around rewarding exceptional accomplishments. The System seems Nathaniel's stupid death defying stunts and keeps rewarding him for it, as well as his general commitment to cultivating power the hard way rather than the easy way out. There's a lot of potential questions to be asked about that, like there's a piece of this story we're not seeing. A few potential thoughts I've got are: 1. The system pushes exceptional individuals to create a wider and more interesting range of abilities to give to its subjects. It already distributes existing power sets from their universe beyond their original wielders, like the powers of the gods being given out in fragments. Having more people equivalent to gods means more (now carefully regulated) powers to give out for whatever purposes it has. 2. Its possible something akin to pairing but between universes is going on, given the System is from another universe. It might want to create a few exceptionally strong warriors to join its side, but keep the more "normal" individuals in a state that can be easily controlled. 3. The system's creator/controller might honestly have some self-contradictory ideals as a result of being flawed and human, and have as such put together a machine that's either doing its job wrong or doing two contradicting things in the hope it'll somehow work out. Either way, its interesting. There's not quite enough info yet to really make much of it, but there's a lot to theorize and chew on.

Nerø

Haven't thought of that at all. And I think this is very possible. He wants to be challenged, and he even made it so that the Rulers will now have a motivation to challenge him lol

Majulla

Great chapter, thank for your hard work rest well.

Majulla

Center of the dungeon might be the system being, and pride may have acquired power or knowledge on how to kill the system or has the intent.

Muhamed Badri

Maybe the systems true body is deeper in beyond and it’s getting scared

John

“All of the Rulers got a quest to kill the Ruler of Pride. The rewards are one of his active skills at its current level, given even if you have 10 skills already, and an upgrade token.” Is this because, if he clear the first dungeon, he controls the system? is it trying to protect itself?

Majulla

It has been a tend of nat using the system as a tool to learn how mana function and interacts especially when learning and using skills. I could see nat preferring no system to try and expand on his weakness of depending on it.

Majulla

I see it as the system reducing strength given out on average, compared to an early expansion phase, it might be reaching its limits.

granndfunk

That would certainly be prideful

Baelmoul

Thx for chapter. see you in 2 weeks :)

Sondadir

The guy is just that eager for a real challenge ^_^

Al

I’m calling it now: the story will end with Biscuit *eating* the system.

dee's page of pages

Would be fun if one of the rewards was a 5 skill combination token or smiller to point fun at Nat

Azalea

I just subbed, but I definitely wouldn't consider myself screwed by the timing. Getting to read the end of the book in one burst was definitely worth it.

Melih

It's so cool how Tess's speed gradually increases while moving by turning into lightning and reaches a level that can be compared to teleportation. Being able to make her stopped heart beat again with her lightning is also cool. Also she can launch javelins from orbit now, so good, and she is quite accurate too! It happened earlier than I expected, I thought she could only do this after reaching Champion level. But unfortunately we also see a glaring weakness in Tess. She is at a disadvantage against enemies who are good at healing because her attacks do not include a significant anti healing effect. It was mentioned in the early books that Tess's lightning slows down healing a bit, so it is not like it is non existent, but you cannot really say it works either. Though since the Adjudicator is a Kindness clone even Luan’s fragment probably would not have been of any use. Her stealth technique is also interesting, it does not seem mana based, it is more like the methods of the Bene Gesserit Witches. But unless I missed something she did not hide her thermal signature, so Nat could probably easily notice her, why does she think it would work against Nat? Ah right, she says “sand gathers against me,” in this case if the sand’s temperature is close to body temperature, maybe Nat cannot distinguish her thermal signature from the sand’s thermal signature? But this technique did not seem very effective to me against someone with thermal perception, in a situation where she cannot use the ambient thermal energy to her advantage. Also I wonder how the Adjudicator noticed her. This reminded me of the Trait Specialist Old Man noticing Tess’s gaze directed at him from very far away, Nathaniel had asked the man how he did that but the man did not give an answer. Btw, the relationship between [Lightning Crown] and the lightning clouds in the sky is interesting, I hope Tess explains it one day like she is talking to a 5 year old. Something else, Maya can do what the Adjudicator does by jumping in the air, but she achieves it using [Boost], I guess we will see Jean doing this soon too. That’s sick, honestly

Andrew

Thank you!

Manaless

Biscuit lost one of its paws, it must be the left one, right?

Kirin

Thank you for the chappie

Arnon Parenti

We have 20 dead gods for the first dungeon aka Beyond, and 13 dead gods for the tutorial. That is a lot of Black Mana for Manathaniel to play with.

Gwiddion

Really interesting theory. Him trying to motivate the others. But why wouldn't he issue the challenge to everyone. Though could be that he expects the information to leak.

Bandit General

Something I like about this is that, the system can’t take away power that is given. So, as much as the system is all powerful, it is restricted by those rules. Which I find interesting like why can’t it rewrite those same rules. I also like how it doesn’t try to solve users problem. For example the demon that nat learn from, the system didn’t fix his heart. Also nat broken body, the system didn’t offer him an option to fix it. Or the albino demon.. with the blood that’s killing her, the system didn’t fixed that Or, even kindness…….Yes, we have know it doesn’t fix things but evolves, does that mean it can’t fix anything. Like I’m thinking, all theses destroyed planets from the war. Or even the planet that nat got the first star from. The system didn’t fix it. The system is like, yow. It’s not my job to fix shit. I’m just gonna send someone to take care of it. And if they can’t, it is what is.

Bandit General

Also, if all rulers got a quest to kill pride, does that mean, another system war is coming.

Compendium

What's the bet Christoph hit israel lol?

Draco421

The system quest throws my theory out. I thought Pride only challenged the dungeon to beat the 13th floor? I had kind of assumed it was due to Lissandras shenanigans. He showed no interest until then. When he realized the Ancient Monster Absolute that gave him a good challenge for his title never participated in beyond when they first explored, and even her imitation seemed to have a decent chance of getting further in beyond than all the Rulers, his pride couldn't let that stand. Also why I thought he didn't challenge her directly or allow the other rulers to outright destroy her. He wanted a competition with her in the dungeon run. I just figured his version of pride was about not losing, didn't mean he was necessarily a battle junkie. He was hanging around with Kindness making baby demons and whatever unless people challenged him.

Alex Reed

I really like that theory. The upgrade token is probably meant to be used on the status as {Ruler}.

Nemesis

As soon as I heard the description for the Adjudicator I thought she sounded like Kindness! I didn't think it would actually be the case though! (Even if its a clone) Wait...is Tess suggesting that this Adjudicator clone is one of the rulers? So Kindness is the ruler of kindness, and her 'evil clone' is ruler of something like sloth?

Nemesis

The pride thing is a bit of a surprise. Still though, I seriously doubt any of the rulers are dumb enough to go for it. I am currently thinking that Liss will end up killing Pride, the only real way to prove she is superior to her original. Then Nat will have to fight her when she moves to kill Ruby.

Nemesis

I'm looking forward to the day when Nat is going around killing absolutes and rulers and he makes a scathing comment about how he has come to realise LissLiss is right, all the modern absolutes are kinda weak & disappointing

Raymond

The world building in this story has been just phenomenal. It’s become my favorite LiTRPG. I genuinely look forward to each chapter every morning. Enjoy the break Cerim. Much deserved. Relax and recharge. We’ll see ya down the line 👋

Raymond

I enjoyed Elydes on Royal Road. Different pacing but the writing was well done.

Scyzim

I wonder why exactly Pride is pushing for the end of Beyond now. Is it just because LissLiss is there and they doesn't want her to get further than their record because of their Pride? It begs the question of what exactly is Pride's pride in the first place that made him so powerful. Can they not stand the idea that the System has power over them anymore, and so they are trying to beat the System? Maybe the universe is pairing with another universe and Pride wants to lead them into it. IDK but this story is by far my favorite LitRPG

joshua adkins

Kindness clone is nowhere near ruler level.

Hms

Beginning to wonder if Pride is just another Nat. Someone who constantly pushes themselves and looks for ways to challenge himself and do what he wants to, but is frequently being forced to fight other people. He doesn't seem like the type to go after people just for the hell of it or he would have likely killed all the rulers except for kindness and cinderbear by this point. I just always looked at him as the bad guy because he killed Liss Liss and Greed has been on a life long quest to kill him, but Greed's nature could explain why she wants to kill him so bad and his goading of Envy is what allowed Lissandra to kill him. I'm Also pretty sure his conversation with the fake Lis Lis probably has something to do with his current clearing of the floors and I won't be surprised if he also has an Empyrean heritage. Either way I appreciate so many different moving parts in the story with Earth, the Rulers and Nat and his groups stories going into such fun directions.

Marwolaeth

Delve on Royal Road, technically on hiatus but a few chapters have dropped during it

Griffin Boustead

I think this will forever one of my favorite series i've ever read and one that deserve to be adapted Beyond the book in future years. Congratulations on another book Well done🪅🥳🎊

Ivan Jelenić

So, they said that the System started spreading from the center of the universe, and the First Dungeon is in the center if the universe. So, is the System's core on the 20th floor of the First Dungeon? And Rulers built Beyond around it. That would support the theory of it kinda being the Universe Spark. Maybe Pride knows that, and is trying to become the first "Universal", and the trial for it is to fight against all the floors and other Rulers. And it fits his Pride. Also, Cinderbears fires/sparks seem suspicious. Maybe the System used them as some kind of inspiration to make the Absolute sparks?

Ivan Jelenić

System started in the center of the universe. First Dungeon too. So... it's probably on floor 20.

Ivan Jelenić

There's just one dead god with black mana.

John

@Alex Reed, That could be true - i drew rhe parallel from doing a dungeon on a pmanet and getting its spark to become a absolute, imagine getting the spark of the universe😋

Ivan Jelenić

She literally started speeding away. That's how she was noticed. That was dumb of her.

Ivan Jelenić

I don't like Tess being in an Assassins' guild.

Ivan Jelenić

Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson. Short, great, one of his best works. That won't last a day, though.

Ivan Jelenić

Yeah, that seems plausible. A race. And he didn't want to fight her because he would beat her silly right now, as she has no heart.

Ivan Jelenić

Usually Cerim says to send him a message, and he happily refunds people that realized they don't want it, because of e.g. bad timing.

kyle

Aww I literally just caught up today! I said this many chapters ago when he finally got all of his skills above level 40 but he was given a quest forever ago to get all his skills above level 40 but he kept combining them and going back down but he did get all of his skills above level 40. I don't know like 30 chapters ago..... Before he combined them again but still he should have completed that quest. Has it been forgotten about or did I miss something somewhere along the way??

Apeiron

This is what I can’t wrap my mind around either, why now? When he was first introduced on the 12th floor everyone was surprised to see him appear seemingly out of nowhere and for no reason. It could be the cockroach, it could be Adrian, it could be a system quest (maybe the system told him if he clears the 20th floor he’ll get a 5 active skill combination token). As for his Pride specifically I thought it came from his mirror skill? He mirrors his opponents then beats them at their own strengths. I recall Greed discussing that with Nat when explaining how she “abandoned” Adrian.

Al

I don’t think the rulers built beyond, otherwise why can’t they access all of it? sure there could be reasons, but I think it’s more likely the system created beyond to protect itself.

Craig Oliver

I didn’t unsub even with your break cause this books so goated I want to keep supporting

James Skinner

I mean the jumping on air thing is literal nonsense physically, which completely broke the versimilitude for me. Just call it magic lol, it's fine if the clone has enough magic to make a few steps in mid-air.

James Skinner

Enjoy your break, loved the chapter, except that air is compressible and you can't step off of it no matter how much force you exert. Just give the clone enough dregs of power to magic up some air steps lol.

Manaless

I sent the message, but haven't received a reply yet. What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Krish Gupta

Cinderbear is the absolute goat.

Chun

Hasn’t this been confirmed? I vaguely remember there was a chapter where Nat was talking to… Kindness? Or Ruby? And they confirmed Nat’s guess that the First Dungeon (Beyond) was where the system originated/spread. It also lines up with what we’ve been told so far. Every time the system has issued an eradication/kill quest, it was because it was threatened, i.e. the empyreans and anyone possessing biscuits primordial energy. The system only stops caring once it has adapted and grown enough that the power no longer poses a threat to its existence.

Pat

This isn't actually true, they just have to generate enough momentum acting on the air molecules to provide a reactive force. And I would say we are far past the sound barrier at this point in the story so an average foot would easily generate the required force to use air as a step as the molecules couldn't move out of the way fast enough.

James Skinner

No, it is true. The more force you exert the bigger the shock wave, there's never anything to push off of. Swimming works by pushing against water because water is incompressible. Flying works by creating pressure differences between the top and bottom of wings, and yeah once you have that upwards pressure you can flap around to move horizontally by pushing against air, but you can't just jump up and kick really hard to get higher.

Nimps

Did Tess just use a beyond token to run away from a fight she wasn't winning. Is the tutorial going to punish her now?

CrypticAnon

I’m wondering what would happen if you received a second copy of a skill you already have. Would it just merge and overlvl?

Tyler Engelke

The only people even with a hope in hell of killing pride are the rulers. Following on that, the quest to kill pride is probably tied to ruler status, so any new ones would get it too.

Tyler Engelke

Pride as described could fairly easily kill most if not all of the other rulers.

Val the mysterious Jedi

Fuck fraudian, I really can't stand those scrubby villains(great writing), hope he dies a broken mess as group 4 curb stomp him.

MadeOfCandy

I have never gotten the impression that Nathaniel does not like the system. My impression has always been that the system is an asshole, and he loves it; but I wonder if I'm missing/missed something alluding to him becoming less amenable to it.

Nemesis

We still don't I know the full truth of the System. It's possible that once it reaches the end of our universe it will apocalypse us somehow. Even if it doesn't, once there are no more planets to expand to the whole pairing system is going to make the universe run out of habitable planets at a fairly quick rate. Its endgame could be to just wait us out until we go extinct and then find another universe.

Subliminary

Idk this far i agree with his actions? He wants a planet that he rules over sure, but who’s to say he’s not a benevolent dictator? Clearly he’s already eliminating unwanted parties. While he’s “the villain” since he opposes OP realistically I doubt it’s that bad. Unless of course later in the system integration it requires him to sacrifice earth or something

Subliminary

The empyreans built it i would presume, but at the time there were 100 “rulers” now only the 12(?) so the current ones are stronger than the originals. Only Cinderbear and Kindness can answer these questions really

Subliminary

I’d be weirdly upset if Pride was a time traveling Nat somehow. I’d prefer it to be a long long ancestor or just someone else who shares his exact traits. He’s “the ultimate boss” but only because of the narration. Seemingly the guy does nothing but keep to himself yet people want to kill him just to prove themselves

Subliminary

He already beat the highest level and Liss Liss threatened that, so he went and advanced a floor. Pride. Also Pride is not a “skill” it’s your personality subtrait within the system. I get your argument that being “of pride” would imply not being “under any entity’s thumb” but these people are immortal and he’s likely biding his time. IMO should anyone reach the center of Beyond they can change the functions of the system, similar to Defiance of The Fall where cultivators who reach beyond gain access to the Terminal and can make changes

Subliminary

First comment: Yes. Second comment: No. The clones are pale imitations of the ruler (who is intertwined with the Conglomerate that Tess was referring to)

Subliminary

Agreed. He’s probably excited to finally have a true challenge and knows if/when she gains access to a heart it’ll truly be a challenge worthy of the most PRIDEFUL being in the universe

Subliminary

Or it’s similar to other stories where the system expands to encompass the universe to prep us to compete with other universes

Subliminary

Yes, but the “black mana god” was essentially just Mana Daddy. And all these “gods” innately had mana within them as opposed to other beings - like Mana God himself - who only gained access through the system, no?

Subliminary

Poor biscuit 😭😭😭

Subliminary

Welcome welcome!!! Cerim is by far the most timely and productive author I’ve ever encountered off of Patreon, so don’t worry. May be bad timing but consider the 2 weeks of non content as payment for all the enjoyment they’ve provided you these past however many chapters. As a new subscriber you have any outsider perspective on the story that those of us who’ve been here for a while may not have? I’m sure Cerim would appreciate your input

Subliminary

Remind me, is Liss of Pride as well? For some reason i recall she isn’t, but her vibe definitely is

Nemesis

Original Liss was pride. This copy has changed to Greed as an act of aggression against Ruby.

Subliminary

How does superman fly? Weird “magic” physical force exerted underneath/behind to propel forward. Same thing. I’m the “this doesn’t make sense” person typically myself but this makes sense to me if you can exert some sort of propelling force from your body to push you in a direction

Subliminary

Definitely. I assume it’ll be a similar to DOTF (Defiance of the Fall) theme where if you reach the center node you can make whatever changes you want to (or possibly even remove) the system

Gutz

So now the system wants to kill Pride ? Maybe he's actually a good guy.

Gwiddion

Yea from a neutral perspective Adrians actions are actually harsh but fine. He is the person most likely to be the strongest after the tutorial. Due to his experiences as a kind of reincarnator so him taking charge makes sense. Also due to those experiences he does know a lot of the rules around pairings and how to win one and how to get access to larger coalitions. Only negative aspect about this is, that he doesnt value anyone that doesnt have the potential to help him. If he would need to personally kill everyone on earth appart from the tutorial attendees to win and come closer to his goal. He would do that without any hesitation and still smile at himself in the mirror.

Gwiddion

Well the first time Nat used that to escape lioren he wasnt punished. After doing it multiple times he would have been punished if he didnt go to kyralon.

William Johnson

It could be that the system wants to kill Pride. It could also be that the reward for clearing the 14th floor was the ability to set a system quest and Pride was like "now how can I get an actually interesting challenge?"

rams

Interesting take as jumping on air is actually the MOST physics-based way to maneuver in the air for a non-flyer. F = M x A. Air has mass. Push against it hard enough and you can accelerate anything, i.e. A = F / M. This works even better if you make mana "snowshoes".

rams

compressible just means that it is a spring. Enough POWER, in the classical mechanics sense, would overwhelm the compressibility of air.

James Skinner

If you were pushing down on a container of air you could get it to the point where electron degeneracy pressure failed like in neutron stars and then you'd have something to push off. In mid-air the air molecules would just escape off to the sides and disperse any force.

KD Lo

System doesn’t like powerful entities that could undermine its project. I don’t think it has anything to do with Pride being a good guy or not.

Val the mysterious Jedi

That's what I think he will do, my money is if he would let earth die if he got more power out of it, he has no love for earth

Matthew Hay

Perhaps my memory is hazy but I thought the lore was they found the first dungeon and spent effort building up beyond around it. So they didn't build the floors, instead they created a system to allow for tutortial attendees to gain experience on the lower floors and all the systems related to that.

thisisniall

I was right about what Lust left the room to do and Charity rescuing him! CALLED IT!

Twmmy

Did i really manage to time my sub for end of book and break 😂 Awesome story though!

DANDAN THE DANDAN

Wdym he's not a bad guy lol. He's destroying the moon. You know how many cultures rely on the lunar cycle to mark religious events and cultural holidays?

Lance Beam

TFTC and the book as a whole, I really enjoyed it. Thanks again Cerim.

Death56

I wonder if the core of the system is a bottom of the first dungeon

Hms

Thinking maybe that is one of the backdoors the black mana creator put in as part of their contract. Something like if someone is able to clear all the floors of beyond they either get control over the system or the system is destroyed. Reason no one knows could be that he was not allowed to tell anyone as part of the deal. Guessing maybe something like if people are strong enough to beat beyond, they no longer need the assistance of the system.

LawBear2005

I mean, it is probably possible to use mana or kinetic energy or some other force to hold the air together, also it is possible physics works differently in these kinds of environments. There isn’t a material on earth that would be able to survive the sheer presence of a lot of attendees. It wouldn’t surprise me if the elements that make up the area, even those in the air itself, are infused with mana and other energies. It would make sense if that changes how things interact with each other.

LawBear2005

I think when HMS said just another Nat, he means personality, not time travel shenanigans.

ZekTak

Lol I did the same, finished all chapters on RR then subbed here, binged it in 2 days and found out the book is done

Twmmy

Yup, was sure I read on royal that new book thing had ended, plus also saw chapter posted the day before I subbed. Timing was just perfect haha

FeynHS

You don’t need to overwhelm the compressibility of air or anything that complicated. They need to be able to create a reaction force from the air greater than the pull of gravity. This is pretty much like replacing wings with your feet. Something utterly impossible for normal humans, but if you can move and exert ludicrous forces it would be doable. Being able to do it in a controlled manner would be another matter entirely

James Skinner

So what is it? I presume it's quite high from the lack of meteorites rebounding off of the atmosphere.

FeynHS

Going to need to assume a lot of stuff to calculate this, lol. Fdrag = 1/2 ρ v^2 Cd A I'm going to assume ρ is constant at 1.225kg/m^3(it wouldn't be because moving at high speeds creates a lot of heat in air) Cd I'm going to assume is 0.8. See paper in previous comment, and a human isn't super streamlined, so I picked 0.8. I'm going to take a 100kg person who has reached the peak of his previous jump and wants to jump a further 2m higher. In order to jump 2m you need a vertical velocity of approx 40^0.5 m/s so I need an impulse from the air of ~632 kgm/s The impulse imparted by the drag from the air would be: J = int F dt = 1/2 rho Cd A int v2 dt This works out to ~ 0.0018 a^2 = 632 so your acceleration would be approximately 593m/s^2 This means the final speed of your leg would have to be 296 m/s So if you can move your leg at slightly below the speed of sound you can launch yourself 2m vertically upwards. You would actually need to move your leg faster than that since you'd need to overcome the drag after jumping. Admittedly, I'm making a lot of assumptions just to be able to attempt this calculation.

KD Lo

Isn’t beyond strictly controlled by the system and its ruler lackeys? I wouldn’t be surprised if the core of the system sits at the bottom of the first dungeon.

Hms

Wondering if that is a back door set up by the empyrean as part of whatever contract they had that will lead either to the system ending or being controlled by whoever beats the dungeon. Can't imagine the Empyrean just giving the system full Reign without a way to stop it. No one probably knows because it was likely something he couldnt tell anyone as part of whatever agreement they made. Either way there is little doubt that his conversation with Liss Liss is the catalyst for all this. Just hoping we get some POV for whatever idiot decides to go after the bounty though I would be surprised anyone being that stupid.

James Skinner

I mean well done for attempting a calculation there but imagine a 100kg machine with a foot sized piston pointing downwards, do you really think that if that piston moves down fast enough it will launch the entire contraption upwards? If you do I can revisit this on my PC so I can respond properly, but if what you were claiming is true, supersonic flight would be impossible lol.

Thomas Toften

Any of ya’ll play magic the gathering? Im tryna make a mana-daddy alter deck (omnath locus of all) anyone want to colab this shit?

Raymond

Thermal/kinetic - red mana Black mana - black Focus on mana - blue Maybe a grixis commander? Like the card Kess, Dissodant Mage, but it’s Nat, Mana Tyrant lol

M Schweibold

Hard to be Nat when luscious liss fought him and lost, but she does not correlate the now currentnat to pridenat. Nope, Nat is not time traveler Natpride. Plus Cerim is better than that trope mechanic

Hms

I was referring to Prides conversation with Liss before Envy got killed. I think she said something that set off Pride on his current speed rush through floors. Dont think there is any relation to Nat and Pride. Just think that they have the same heritage with Pride likely getting it directly rather than through the system like Nat.

Manthar

you successfully skipped over half the break, so don't feel too bad.

Lee Wilson

Evil Tyrants usually start as people with the best intentions. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's an old saying, but very applicable here. Christoph may even believe that he's doing the right thing and being a 'benevolent' ruler by getting rid of the corrupt leaders, and many would agree that he actually is, but where does it end? What happens in the future when someone just disagrees with him or doesn't want to be under his authority?

Lee Wilson

Thank you for this nerdgasm.

KD Lo

I subbed recently but was able to catch up on all the books not yet published. Downside is I’m fully caught up now lol

wolf Bound

I’m confused, I thought rulers each had one floor? Isn’t kindness floor the one with the saint? So why does kindness also have the desert floor? Or is there two rulers on that desert floor?

Krazo

In the System the more vague something is the more insane it gets... A upgrade token is really fucking insane!
