I don’t know if this is intentional, but I like seeing how the story shows the downside of Customer Consumption especially when it comes to technology. The outmoding of robots who are clearly sentient while all they need are some fixing, even if they don’t look shiny and new anymore. Meanwhile we also get to see Emmy be with a child who didn’t have all the advantages the children she normally interacts with have. A child who has nothing yet is able to make everything. Surrounded by the discarded and therefore sees value in the broken. The exact thing Emmy needs as she is going through her dysfunction. I just love seeing how the story progresses.
