Hey everyone, I had some extra thoughts about 'Don't Speak Her Name' that I couldn't quite fit into the latest video, so I thought I'd dump them out into this sort-of-off-the cuff-video and share it for PATRONS ONLY! I actually had a lot of fun putting this together, definitely something I could see doing again with future video topics since there's always parts of the script that get cut before a video goes out. Hope you enjoy it!

BONUS BIT #1: Don't Speak Her Name!

In this first ever 'Bonus Bit', I take a look at some of the metric and rhythmic confusion going on throughout 'Don't Speak Her Name!' from Fire Emblem Awakening.

The video on Don't Speak Her Name is my favourite video of yours, so I'm really glad to see there's a Bonus Bit about it. ^^ It's such an amazing piece, I'm glad I was introduced to it (through your channel).

When you said, "you can really interpret the rhythm either way," it reminded me of an experience I had some years ago - I went to go see the composer Lukas Ligeti, son of the composer György Ligeti, play drums alongside a guitarist named Henry Kaiser. Henry said to Lukas in between two pieces, "let's do a slow one next!" to which Lukas replied, "tempo is an illusion." That concert, and especially that sentence from Lukas Ligeti, forever changed how I felt about tempos and time signatures, as Lukas's drumming floated pretty freely between different feels within pieces.

This was awesome. :D Would absolutely love more bonus bits.

Lol I was actually wondering what you were going to say about the last transition back into the loop. When I saw it wasn't in the video I was just like aww rip. But nahh you came through. I actually really like the more casual approach. Feels more genuine on how you feel about the tune as a whole. Thanks and I'd definitely look at these more.

I definitely enjoyed this and would welcome more of them! Flashy editing is not required.

Definitely a fan of the Bonus Bits idea! Reminds me of discussing music analysis in my university classes.
