The tragedy of Ophelia and her dependence on men, ruling her life and her every move, is what arguably led her to her death. It is a tale of forsaken love and has fueled artists for centuries. The painting by John Everett Millais remains one of my main inspirational pieces whenever I come upon a stream or a body of water. It depicts Ophelia singing while floating in a river moments before she drowned.
