Self portrait with white lilies, from a series of self portraits which are still very dear to my heart although it was captured during a very different period in my life.

The lily possesses dual symbolism of both (re)birth and death (grief), according to different religious beliefs. Lilies can also represent femininity and fertility which is often associated with Greek mythology and moreover the goddess Hera.

“ Hera’s breast milk spilled onto the ground and according to the myth , from those drops of milk sprang the first ever lily flowers.”
