Monster Beater Reki Released! (Patreon)

Good day all! So as of earlier this morning, Monster Beater Reki is released and available on the website. I now proudly add Monster Beater Reki to the list of completed featured games! Thanks to all the patrons who helped me debug the game, and all the patrons who supported me up to this point. It really means a lot! 

Eventually we'll get another featured game in there, but no rush to have that happen right now.

Game Tips: -You can only unlock special moves and "items" in Normal Mode. Items? Bomb... What items???

Can there be a gallery mode offered? Or maybe an option for gameover scenes in freemode to not stop until you hit a button like in a cutscene?

You can turn blackouts in free mode on and off by pressing 6 on the numpad.

Maybe sometime in the future. Right now, Reki's not really built to be a CPU.

But how do you get vexa?

I got ceruli by leaving foxette behind, and went to level 2 with no sidekick. Follow the mountain path, and it will lead to the first map again with the cave. She's in there

No folder with that name I only found a text file called story-data-update. Tried to replace it with the old one. didnt notice any difference the rock stage goes forever

...sultan, your game is already up-to-date. If you have trouble getting past the rock stage, then please read some of the comments in the recent posts. People have been discussing it a lot.

Hey Bomb, new bug to report (not sure if it was posted previously) and a workaround for anyone else who runs in to it: I only had Ceruli left to unlock so I did that run last night, had the scene between her and Reki behind the ice cave, then she appeared again when I rejoined Foxette, Vexa and Lulu. I had Ceruli set as my partner and wanted to finish up so I ran past all the enemies on that last stage. When I got outside the dungeon/temple with the final boss Ceruli had disappeared, I couldn't switch in any other partners and the boss wasn't inside the temple either. Eventually I figured out if I continued from the main menu, although it defaulted me to Foxette, I could swap in a level 1 Ceruli. I thought I might have needed to defeat some enemies before she "approves" of me so I started fighting on the next screen. Ceruli being level 1 she quickly got knocked out and triggered the quick "partner defeated" dialogue. Level 1 Ceruli then disappeared and a level 60 Ceruli dropped in who I kept close to the end of the stage, kept her active for the boss fight, and then got to see the (incredibly hot) Ceruli ending. Sorry for the long post, hopefully that helps establish what happened!

Do you mean Mirah? She's the elf you find in the cave.

You need to fight Vexa with Foxette as your partner. On the screen before Vexa you should keep fighting gobos until Foxette says you've done enough, then move on. During the fight knock Vexa on her back and use Reki's ground submission. Foxette should trigger a scene and help out; do that 2 more times. I think Lulu only appears if Vexa is with you (could be wrong on that)

Nevermind, I already see the problem(thanks to a nice thorough bug report =D). So, Ceruli has the ability to make herself invisible. On the screen preceding the temple, since its a locked screen the ally CPU pops in close to your location. However, since she was still in her invisibility mode, you didn't realize she was there. Pressing the E key while this is happening will still switch characters, although they will now be invisible. This creates a chain that ultimately causes neither Mirah or your ally to show up because only Ceruli is built to handle invisibility. The level 1 Ceruli is another bug altogether. So another patch is on the way, but it will be downloaded from the new .exe. You can ditch the old one at this point.

No problem. One more thing I noticed though...The patch actually won't fix your current playthrough, as the bug may have caused a glitched save. I apologize for that.

Not to worry, as I mentioned I managed to work around the bug and finish that particular playthrough so I have everything unlocked and I'm currently having plenty of fun with free play.

I unlocked everything. It's been pretty fun. But now, Pirate Tripper has decided to stop working. It opens and says it's downloading updates, but also opens MBR at the same time without closing itself. Can't get past the main menu in MBR. Tried waiting it out to see if it was actually taking time to update, but it just closes itself and back to square one. Anyone else getting issues?

Maybe related to the update Bomb was doing to fix the issue I reported yesterday? I've just tried launching it and PirateTripper did stay open longer than usual but the game worked fine afterwards. After PirateTripper closes have you clicked inside the Monster Beater Reki window to make it the active window again?

Level three the forest im on second stage. I dont know the enemys keep on piling up, is it the way it should go

Yep. Well, I tried it this morning and it does work, but only after Piratetripper closes itself after about 2-3 minutes. However, it's now doing that every single time I want to open the game.

I put a patch out, which is why that's happening. You need to extract files from MBRUpdate.rar in the game folder. Hold off on that though, because there are a few more things I need to fix as it turns out...

I'm stuck there too. The elf would leave and from the camp I'd go right twice with Foxette,who said to follow her but doesn't move w/o me, and get stuck there. I'd fight until Foxette leaves(dies) and fight some more until committing suicide. Guys Help

Is it the part where the way forward is blocked by a large flower and vines? You need to destroy the red and blue flowers to make it vulnerable and then smash your way through. Some armils should be mixed in with the gobos; do the same as against the sunflower in the first level.

Wait for one of the armadillo enemies to appear and throw it at the red and blue flowers (just like with the sunflower in the first level). If you have the down+Q special unlocked that also works really well.

Glad to help! They can only be thrown horizontally or at an angle as far as I know so you'll have to place yourself properly before you try to catch one.

Yea like AeonDK said, only diagonally. You’ll press up when you press W, but she’ll throw it diagonally. So you just have to position yourself. The down+Q special he’s referring to- I just unlocked it. On the first level, I left foxette behind and I returned to the sunflower after leaving home. It had turned white. It’s a little harder the second time around, but once you knock it down it’ll unlock the tornado punch special

Wait... "down+Q special"??? I thought there is only "Q special". Did I miss it? How could I get it?

During the first stage on the second "day" (after meeting Foxette and going home), go back to the sunflower before you go to the gobos camp. It should have turned white and be tougher to knock down, but if you manage it you'll unlock a new special. If you press P while playing to pause the game you'll see the possible unlocks on the right; any that are greyed out you haven't gotten yet.

That's on the very last stage. After you leave the ice cave you hop across a series of ice platforms before the final area. For me the stamina saver was either on or after the last platform. I got it on the run through where I didn't go back to speak to Ceruli after the fight with her but I'm not sure if it has any other conditions before it appears.

When I unlocked the down+ Q special, I left foxette behind on my way home. Then when I went back to the flower it was white. Knock it down and you got the special

How do i get passed the second stage in the mountains with the rabbits? both me and foxette keep dying during one of the cannon stages.

Sorry man I didn’t even see this notification. I was on the 3rd (snow) level and when I was crossing those cones for the last time before fighting Ceruli, it was just sitting on one of the cones. I still don’t know where the Q finished or the EXP boosters are

KayFox do after you go into the cave, go all the way right past the rocks. Either fixers or mirah will tell you if that’s the correct way or not but I’ll try to make it simple:

First you go all the way to the right and thru the portal. Then you go left until they tell you to go “this” way. Now, you’ll go through the S portal next to you, and after that, you’ll go to the portal all the way to your left once or twice. If you go to the left and there’s no second portal with an “S” on it, DON’T go thru that regular portal. It’ll send you to those damn bunny cannons. Instead, go all the way to the right and it’ll lead to LuLu

So I noticed the frames in the game aren’t as fast as they should be. Is there a way to fix that?

You could try updating your flash player. Outside of that and a potentially wonky graphics card, I don't know. Game should run fine, even on somewhat pre-modern systems.

Does anyone have a save file that they could give me for monster beater Reki? My one got corrupted and I think I was near to completing the game, I was at the bit with the harpies.

Where is the first q special?

This game is tough at times or maybe i just suck. I havent been able to the first q special. Any tips on how to get it?

You get that special by defeating Mirah in the forest.
