Sorry guys. I wasn't able to get v0.9 finished as I said I would.

I'm a bit bewildered and burnt out at the minute. I worked through the night trying to get it done, but the more work I did the more there seemed to be left to do.

So, I have decided to release a beta version.

Two unfinished scenes have been temporarily removed, and it is lacking polish in some areas (i.e. some of the dialogue is clunky, more images required in places, etc.).

V0.9 Beta Release ($5+ patrons)https://www.patreon.com/posts/52744315/

I am suspending my Patreon billing for next month. I'm going to take a short break, figure out what I'm doing wrong and make the necessary changes to make sure I'm not in this situation again.

I will get v0.9 finished and released as soon as possible. And I'll also catch up on the Patreon rewards that I'm behind on.

Take a break

Raminita

Finish later blue. Don’t over work yourself Maybe it’s best that you don’t set a release date. Catch people by surprise

Wolvy

Thanks for the update DB!! Take a break and recharge brother. You got this and we all believe in you.

Markus K.

Like the other have pointed out you need to take a break. You wrote that you wuld like to figure out what you're doing wrong. The answer is simple to me: you're pressuring yourself way too much. Be good to yourself. Take your time. I am certain that nobody here is expecting more from you than you do yourself. So this is where you really need to look. Allow yourself rest and quiet and don't let something that should be fun bring you down.

Markus K.

Oh and I don't think you should suspend billing. But that is just me.

DB, I'm going to wait for the full v 0.9 because you do Very Good work that is worth waiting for. Please don't do overnighters for any VN, especially after your health scare. You Have to take care of you before you can take care of us. And - seconded - let us decide on whether or not to suspend billing versus taking that choice away from all of us.

Raife

I agree -- there's no reason to punish yourself by suspending billing.

Helge Sætervik

Agreed, this is no reason to suspending billing, take care of yourself first.

I'm sorry you ran in to difficulties, DB. I've been in similar situations with executive management breathing down my neck constantly asking, "Is it done yet? Is it done yet?" You have to walk away, rest, regroup, and allow yourself some time to develop creative solutions. I wish you didn't suspend your paycheck. The quality of the story and game is well worth it to me. You can always count on my support. 😊

NightHawk

Don't stress yourself too much over hitting release dates. It might kill the creativity and we need you to be creative and enjoy the writing and posing process.

I echo what everyone else just said, and I have to admit to having a quiet chuckle because you just ran face-first into the paradox of software development - the more you hurry, the slower you go. Take the time you need. Release dates are nice but don't beat yourself if you miss some. And I agree with Markus above, I won't complain if you don't pause billing.

HHUUKK

DB, rest 3 days, go to a Spa and enjoy life... :D - You deserve it !! and then finish the update...

Sylvain LORIOT

Hi, agreed to not pause billing. Take care of yourself and no pressure on release date. A lot of big software engeneering company are no more successful with release date :-)

UScotsman

Agree, take a break and do not pause billing. Even with delays you obviously are working hard to get out regular releases. Enjoy some time to decompress looking forward to the improvements the story will have when you come back at it refreshed.

Hey DB - It took Bethesda 7 years to get Fallout 4 out. Da Vinci spent 4 years working on the Mona Lisa. And Tolkien struggled for 12 years on The Lord Of The Rings. You're doing just fine. You can't rush high quality stuff and keeping your artistic standards high is what is important. You'll get no pressure from me, only support. I'm always willing to wait for more time with Charlotte! Rest up and be well friend! Oh, & bill me in July!

Echo Foxtrot

I agree too, bill as normal. We here like the slow burn of a good story and will wait for it. Have a break, you have had a busy year

BarleyWine

I've just joined and I don't mind being billed for it. Take the time you need. The story is great and I'm looking forward to it. Stay safe :+1:

Thanks for your support, BarleyWine. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. 👍
