Forest Gump is more a drama, true lies an action movie

Katie Jackson

Yeah, I'd say only half of these are comedies

SoFieReacts

Forest Gump is Comedy- Drama | True lies is Comedy -Action | White chicks is Comedy-Crime.... Most movies are a combination of multiple Genres. So it's kinda hard to label them.

Hollie

Whilst Forest Gump is probably the most superior of this list I feel I can not in good conscience vote for it because that movie is a dramatic masterpiece. I would not count it as comedy.

Allison

When you guys vote, think of something Sofie would enjoy. She hasn’t seen these movies to decide if they are worthy of being on the voting list. Use good judgement. If it’s full of sexism and misogyny as the main form of humor, she’s not going to enjoy it…cue Sofie’s iconic misogyny eye roll ✨👀

Thomas

Groundhog day would be amazing. But the best comedy is missing. Bruce Al Mighty!

Toed

True. However this i the first time i've seen Ocean's 11 categorized as a comedy.

Bryson Freeman

I definitely would love for you to watch The Princess Bride, you’ll love this movie, and it’s a romance

Angelo Burton

It’s up to you Sofie - the community probably doesn’t want you to approach your choice with the expectation of something light-hearted. Forest Gump is really good but can be heavy.

Maurice

I voted for True Lies because it’s my favorite on this list. But if you’re going for a true comedy that has to be White Chicks.

Steve Quast

Yeah, I wouldn't count it as a comedy either, although it does have it's humorous moments. I

Steve Quast

You haven't seen The Princess Bride? Inconceivable! (Someone had to say it)

Drake

How do you generally approach the preselection?

SoFieReacts

From a list of your previous suggestions.

Shannon

White Chicks is beating The Princess Bride? 🤯

Steve Quast

When I checked before it was beating the Princess Bride AND Forrest Gump. Gump, fortunately has pulled ahead (run, Forrest! Run!). But I have no idea how it's garnered so many votes.

Kevin Karst

I'm also shocked. It's the only movie on the list that has really bad reviews and a mediocre imdb score. I had no idea so many people liked it. I voted for every other movie so it won't win, because I saw the trailer and it looks like the worst movie ever made.

Shannon

It legitimately does have funny moments and inspired so many memes, but like… The Princess Bride is in a league of its own. Forrest Gump, too, but I think that one leans more towards the drama.

yemmlie

I try not to be like judgemental or to complain of poll results, am used to stuff not going my way, but this one genuinely shook me. if this isn't a fever dream and we're actually in reality giving Sofie of all people WHITE CHICKS over renowned and universally beloved classics like Groundhog Day or Princess Bride we are truly lost as a species lmao.

Asaunte

I would love to see you react to Forrest Gump simply for the fact that I think you will be one of the few reactors to actually understand a certain character who gets a lot of hate

Steve Quast

I've never actually watched White Chicks, so I can't comment on it other than to say it doesn't look like the type of comedy I would normally enjoy. But the Princess Bride is iconic, and most reactors thoroughly enjoy it. Forrest Gump is likewise a cinematic masterpiece, though not a comedy.

Hollie

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Forest Gump and if it wins I will be thrilled that Sofie is watching it and think she will love it. But that as a community we voted overwhelmingly for comedy as the next genre over drama and then voted for Forest Gump to win the comedy poll is a comedy in itself.😂

Raquel

I totally agree with you, I don't quite understand it... but "as you wish" people 😉

Maurice

In my opinion, White Chicks, The Princess Bride and Groundhog Day are the only true comedies on this poll. The rest should’ve been something like Robin Hood Man In Tights or Blazing Saddles. But at the end of the day, every movie on this poll is fire and is going to be great to see Sofie react to whatever wins.

Hollie

I don’t know if it would help but maybe going forward you could ask for suggestions after a genre has won and then poll on those? The movies on this list are all great but I think most people would have different recommendations if it was just for one genre.

madfem

it's not really a popular movie in Europe.

Steve Quast

I'm just glad The Princess Bride is finally ahead of White Chicks lol. I'd like it to take the lead over Forrest Gump, too. Not that I don't love Forrest Gump, but Princess Bride is much more of a comedy. I'll be happy if either film wins, though.

Kevin Karst

For some reason, The Princess Bride's cult status is almost an exclusively American phenomenon. Barely anyone in Europe, for example, has ever heard of it, let alone watched it. (Just as an explanation for why it doesn't get more votes.)

Raquel

Kevin Karst, You're not the first to comment on this, is that really true?? (I have no idea) I'm Spanish, and I know many people who knows and loves The Princess Bride, and certainly for me, a very special film, with adventure, comedy, romance, action, and with some of the most quoted phrases in the cinema, never get tired of it... but it seems like Forrest Gump wins, a really great movie but not so comedy for me

Gabriella Lynghed

I had never heard about it until I got deeper into internet fandom discourse. Never seen it on any of the streaming services I have had or any "old channels" either, so I haven't seen it. (Sweden)

The Tea-V Guide

The comments did not pass the vibe check. White Chicks is hilarious and a certified pop culture classic..maybe that is why some of you are confused as to why it’s so popular . I have not seen one reactor who didn’t enjoy it.

KateFS

This surprises me. I live in the UK and there is normally a lot of joy and excitement at the very mention of The Princess Bride, especially among movie buffs. I only know one person who has seen it and doesn't like it. I recently watched an amateur kids theatre group perform a play that they had based on the film, that included all the characters and quotes. The audience understood all the in-jokes.

Daniel Vezina

As someone who was working in a video club when most of those movie came out, I can assure you. Forest Gump-Drama, True Lies-Action. If some critics add comedy , maybe, but at their core those movie are not. Well, looks like Forest is gonna win, wish you'll address if it was really one after you react to it.
