It's pretty hard to think of any recent good standalone action movies. If an action movie is good (John Wick, Taken, Kingsman) or even just mediocre (The Accountant, Den of Thieves, The Meg), it will inevitably be turned into a franchise nowadays. Only the bad ones don't get sequels. I think most great standalone movies are dramas, because they very rarely get sequels, so I'm hoping for drama to win. Some great suggestions have already been made (Forrest Gump, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, The King's Speech).

Hi, I would have said "Thriller" because that's so much fun to see the reactions to suspens, tension and twists! I love action and drama movies but to me, it's less enjoyable to watch in a reaction capacity. I would just make an exception for kill Bill (action). As you're my favorite reactor, I'd love you to react to my favorite movies (if you haven't watched them yet) as the first Scream movies and The Sixth Sense (both a mix of thrillers and horror )

Gifted is also a nice movie (not sure why it just came to mind)... If "Action" wins the poll my vote would probably go to one of the Bonds. Django is great as well. Leon the professional... Lol, there's plenty of good movies basically - may the best movie win.

Ya I suppose you're right about that. The only thing I would say is that Bond - like many action franchises - can be watched as standalone films. They aren't like Lotr or Harry Potter where every installment ends off mid-story. But I guess it all comes down to Sofie's preference. If she wants to watch franchises purely for the unique enjoyment and immersive quality that comes with their inherently larger scale I guess there's no difference between Bond and Lotr...

If we go with Drama, there are also many and very good options, as some have already commented, but I would also like to propose “Dead Poets Society”, categorized “comedy/drama” like Forrest gump, but more drama, just like Forrest. And by the way, “Dead poets” is mentioned in an episode of Friends and you were saying you didn't know it, so in case you're curious.... Still, I hope it wins animation and something lighthearted.
