You just gotta love Barabas since he elevates the episode and actually let the our trio grow as witches on an emotional level.

Love this episode because.....Barbas! lol. He's a great villain. But also I love exploring the new fears the sister's are dealing with because they are in very different circumstances than they were before. Piper is pregnant and that has unlocked a whole new set of concerns and fears. And the first time Paige interacts with Barbas and getting under her skin is really cool. But I gotta give props to Alyssa's performance in that scene where she's crying over killing Paige, cause, tbh Alyssa isn't the best cryer (sorry) lol, but in that moment she really made me believe it. And this fear that she has, thinking she is evil or destined to become evil is not necessarily new, just triggered by her reluctance to let Cole get close to her. But Phoebe has been struggling with this fear since at least season 1, when the Woogyman possessed her and we learned how the magic that powers the manor (the Nexus) can sway towards the dominant magical presence in the house and that Phoebe is connected to the manor because she's the one born in the house. So she has this constant fear of turning evil, that its very easy for her to go evil (like her past life in the 20s, or seeing how in a future timeline she used her powers to kill a person, etc). The whole experience of becoming queen of the underworld and carrying the essence of the Source inside her womb was just the thing that cemented those lingering fears for Phoebe.

It's such a great, consistent throughline, going all the way back to the second episode of the entire series, 1x02, when Piper worries that being witches may mean they're meant to be evil. PHOEBE: Besides, if anyone is concerned of being bad... it's me, right? And the fear scenario of Miles being evil and that being why she's drawn to him... that wasn't just about Cole either. It goes back not just to her past life with Anton, but also Strife, a Horseman of the Apocalypse, who asked her if she's ever been a demon before because there was "something about [her]." And just four episodes ago, when she feared Adam Prince was yet another evil person drawn to her.

Paige now has the same hairstyle Prue did in season 1, and in the future Prue was blonde… love the parallels
