Mike Briere

I'm 2 minutes in and I just realized, again, that I'm 42....lol... this was the first movie I ever saw Alan Rickman in. Seeing him in Harry Potter was a far cry from this legendary role lol

Mike Briere

Also, making a "shoeless" reference at 23 minutes in is effing hilarious!

Drew

You'll have to watch 'Galaxy Quest' to round out the Alan Rickman awesomeness:)

Ricardo B,

It's one of the greatest action movies, and one of the few where so much of the movie is just the protagonist anxiously watching things unfold. So much of what happens is not because of McClane. Great stuff.

JoshB

Next action movie you should watch Alan Rickman chomp the scenery in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"

Nina

This was Alan Rickman's first movie role! He was already in his 40s but this iconic role was the beginning of his career. It's a phenomenal movie. An iconic charismatic hero, an iconic charismatic villain, a great mission, simple but effective story, great characters all around, heartfelt, funny, top tier action, and iconic quotes. I miss high quality action movies like this...

Feels strange watching this when it's not Christmas haha. Also nice behind the scenes fact, the moment Hans starts to fall and you see his reaction? That was completely genuine from Alan Rickman as he was told he would only drop 4 or 5 feet but it turned out to be close to 8-10 feet haha

Drew

Just Thanks for editing this and getting it up. Twas an Xmas miracle in September!

Eli

This reaction was my second watch and, no pun intended, I hadn't realized till now that John saves Holly by unclasping and dropping, to its doom, the watch Ellis gave her. You know, the Rolex... Thought that was pretty cool. Anyway, another really enjoyable watch along. Thanks Sofie.

Suddenly Frogs

Sofie, did you know Bruce Wilis is in a movie with Matthew Perry? (The Whole Nine Yards) :)

Raquel

I was going to say the same thing. He was amazing in that movie.

Nina

John McClane - one of the greatest and most badass heroes of all time. Hans Gruber - one of the greatest villains of all time. Damn I miss Alan Rickman. 😔😔 He had such a presence and his voice gives me goosebumps. Always loved him. Always. 💖💖 And Bruce...this movie turned him into an action icon. And I love him in so many other movies. The sixth sense, Pulp Fiction and Moonlighting in particular. He had to end his acting career a couple of years ago because of his health deterioration. I pray he's okay 🙏🙏 But both of them were a gift to cinema. ❤️ I watch this movie every year.

After this awesome Original, for me Die Hard with a Vengeance (Die Hard 3) was the absolute best.

incoherent-excitement

It's a way off yet for Sofie, but he also appears in something else Matthew Perry is in...

Gillian

Die Hard 2 is really fun too. Give it a go!

Sid

I didn't know Argyle was listening to Stevie Wonder. Great detail.

Steve Bondy

I don't remember exactly how many times I've watched this movie (I saw it when it first came out) but it's 4 or 5 times at least over the years. And I totally enjoyed watching it again with you Sophie! Your reactions and insights always add another layer to whatever you watch, and you clearly had fun with this one. Thanks!

Randy Giles

Yeah, I'd like to see The Whole Nine Yards on the next comedy movie poll. It's a fun movie, and probably the most notable Matthew Perry role outside of Friends.

Randy Giles

The actor who played Officer Powell was also a cop in Family Matters, Ghostbusters, and Turner & Hooch, which all came out within a 5-year time span. Hollywood really loved casting him as a cop for some reason.

Aleksandras M

you should check Die Hard 2, also great

Joey Tribbiani

Just watched it for the first time, here with you, and boy... that was delightful.
