Lucifer popping up to see his daughter would change the timeline. Lucifer wouldn’t remember popping up from hell because it would have never happened. Now that Lucifer is part of his daughter‘s life, Rory wouldn’t have time traveled to the past to give Lucifer the idea to help people in hell.

Like you I understand what they were trying to do but for me the execution of it felt contrived and unsatisfying. And as you said unnecessary. While I like the idea of him finding his purpose in helping the people in hell, there's nothing to me that indicates he couldn't have come to this conclusion on his own. He had already started feeling sympathy for and a desire to help Jimmy Barnes when he and Chloe visited hell. I think it was wrong of Rory to ask what she did of them. But even if they honored her (nonsensical imo) request of him not meeting his daughter, there's no reason he couldn't have visited Chloe or his friends without her knowing. I wasn't able to feel the emotional impact of the goodbye because of how contrived and unneeded it felt either. If they had written it so that Lucifer had to remain in hell to save Rory's life for some reason, that would have made sense and been more compelling to me. I'm not sure if this is the popular consensus in the fandom but I'm with you on it lol.

I agree with you. I understand the logic. If he was part of her life, she never would've traveled back and he wouldn't get the idea to be Hell's healer. Sure. Of course he would get the idea, but let's say he wouldn't. But I still don't get why it has to be a full time job. Time literally runs differently down there, meaning he could be in Hell for years and years, and he would only be gone for like a few hours/days up here. And if the point is for Rory to think she was abandoned, then he can avoid her. Sure, that would be hard, being so close to your daughter and having to avoid her, but still.

I love the ending but yeah I was also frustrated with the time loop initially just from the point of lucifer. He could have stayed at least for Rory’s birth or popped up every so often and avoided Rory to keep his & Rory’s destiny intact but the way I got around it is to think of it like ghost dan said to see your daughter and her not see you is worse than hell. Thank you for another great reaction to one of my fav shows ♥️

While I really like some things from this season, Rory included, I hate that they separated them for the rest of Chloe’s life - and why wasn’t Trixie at Chloe’s deathbed? But yes, we accept seeing Dan and Charlotte with pudding and waffles as a peace offering. 😂

I think it’s kind of meant to be a parable to “Gods will” in the sense that we don’t always see things making sense (eg why is there pain and suffering in the world when God can fix it), but it’s all necessary in His grand scheme. I agree that is is a bit of a cheesy cop out, but it does prove the point. Why did God leave Lucifer to suffer all those years whereas he too could have been a better father? But I suppose because it wouldn’t have come to this same conclusion without all the suffering - it all serves its purpose. That’s the only way I can rationalize 😂 BUT I agree he could have still seen CHLOE!!!! And visited before Rory could remember him…but alas, this is the life we’re given 😆 SOOO happy to have gone on this journey with you, thank you Sofie. I’m going to miss watching along with you 🥲

Loved watching Lucifer with you. I was very frustrated at the ending story myself. Lots of tears there though and I've watched the entire series three times now. :)

While it is very frustrating for us aa fans who watched him grow this while time and feel like he deserves a happy ending so to speak, living his life with Chloe and his daughters, what happened did make sense, both logically and morally. Logically the time loop has to remain in place for everything to go as it did, otherwise everything could collapse. Morally, this was the last lesson Lucifer needed to learn, and I'll explain. Lucifer was mad at God for a REALLY long time because of his feeling of abandonment. He felt that God didn't do anything to nurture their relationship, He just sent him to hell. This was the last little thing to show him that parenting isn't that simple. He gets to finally see it from God's side, having an understanding of WHY he had to do something that neither he or his daughter wants, but it's for both of their betterment. One of the biggest themes of the show is empathy, something that Lucifer struggled with for a very long time. This was the last thing to give him that......again, it sucks, but it makes sense. Love your reactions to this show, it was great 💯
