Excited for this one!

The reaction we ALL had. Bravo! I can't put into words how deeply I connect with what they did with Will's storyline and it's truly sad the reception of the world. you can tell they just dont get it.

I love how they found a way to tie everything back to Season 1 with Will's new powers. I recently re-watched Season 1 after finishing Season 5 and what's impressive is that the story never contradicts itself. Everything lines up so perfectly, it's almost like the Duffer Brothers had planned it that way from the beginning.

Yes, I don't get the criticisms of this season at all. Not only is it cool to see WIll finally having the power to fight (as opposed to being the victim like in early seasons), but it all makes sense for the story as well. The foundation they laid in Seasons 1 & 2 ties in perfectly with Season 5.

About Henry going to the same school as Joyce and Hopper: Although Henry looks to be much younger than both characters (and the actor is younger in real-life), it's possible that the town of Hawkins only has one school for all grades (grades 1-12). It's rare, but it does happen, especially in small towns. So Henry would probably still be a kid, maybe in 3rd or 4th grade, while Joyce and Hopper were in high school. This would be before Henry killed his family. The timeline seemed weird to me at first since Henry is younger, but it does fit if they only have one school for all grades. In previous seasons, it looked like Mike & Nancy, and Max & Billy, were all going to the same school despite their age differences, so I think the one school theory seems likely.

Having watched the prequel play, if I remember correctly Joyce, Hopper, and Henry all went to the same high school. I think it's possible that he's just a really young looking freshman. Or possibly their school is a combination of middle school and high school. So he could have even been about 12-14. But I know that they did go to the same school in one way or the other. I think people get hung up because without going into any spoilers the show does jump around to different times and events in Henry's life and not all of them take place while he's in high school with Joyce and Hopper. The events that took place during S4 that was around the time he was in school with Joyce. Right when Henry and his family arrived in Hawkins and I actually could see that actor being a young looking freshman or maybe middle school at the very youngest. Joyce not recognizing him makes sense to me. Like having seen the First Shadow I don't think that their interactions would leave a big enough lasting impression for her to put two and two together. I mean there was a lot going on during that time and I don't think her focus was exactly on Henry. Also She could even realize that they went to high school without commenting on it. But remember that Henry was in the lab with El and he was significantly older than El. Like he was fully into adulthood and El was just like 6 years old so it checks out in that sense as well. I did look it up because I was curious the actor who played young Henry in S4 was Raphael Luce and he would have been about 15 when they filmed that season.

If you're still confused about Henry's timeline by the end of the season then I can explain it. There's things I want to go into but it would include spoilers. What I can say is that Joyce and Hopper did go to high school with Henry which is explained in the prequel Broadway play called The First Shadow which is playing currently. He would have gone to that school starting around the time that his family moved to the Creel home until the point that he killed his mother and sister so not really a long amount of time. The actor who played him in S4 was Raphael Luce and that actor was about 15 years old so he could have been a freshman and Joyce and Hopper may have been up to a few years older.

This episode is just perfection. I loved that the memories they show are the same memories Joyce, Mike, and Jonathan repeated to Will when trying to get through to him while he was flayed in S2. Such a powerful scene to leave off of between V1 and V2. Looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the season!

Henry was a freshman and Joyce/Hopper were seniors. By the time that the Creel's move to Hawkins. This is explained in the Broadway prequel, "The First Shadow." Basically, Hopper/Joyce/Harrington and others (connected to the characters in the series) begin investigating animal attacks in Hawkins while preparing for the play being staged at the school theater. All of them including Henry were part of the play. That's the premise; I won't say more about it to avoid spoilers.

Regarding max/Mike at the same school as Billy/Nancy, it looks kinda like it, but the schools are different, they are just next to each other. When Dustin and Mike recruited Erica for hellfire they left and went to middle school, but it was close. Elementary school, where Holly goes to, was also an different school. In the 50s this could be different of course, but I think Henry was at the same HS as Joyce and Hopper, they just don't mention it

yeahhh my fav reactor is back to watch my fav show. Love yaa. Robin is so cool love the way she noticed and saw Will has feelings for Mike and how she helped him is so sweet. This last scene always gives me chills, Will freaking byers he looked killer and badass and the one take shot looked awesome. I agree with you we finally see our Mike season 1 and 2 back mainly S1. Mike protecting the kids warms my heart. Lucas too.. Cant wait for the next one...

SUCH a good episode! Will Byers is one of my favorite characters in the ST world. I hate that they sidelined him in S3 and 4, but so glad they are focusing on him in s5!

MY BABY WILL IS A SORCERER!!!🤧

I'm pretty sure they said that they had planned everything from the start of s1, including how they wanted to wrap up the show

I didn't know the actor who played young Henry was 15; for some reason, I thought he was much younger, like maybe 11-12. If he was 15, then the timeline makes a lot more sense with him being in high school.
