Ah the "no, I am your father" Darth Vader moment of the show lol. Soldier Boy is the most compelling season big bad imo (not counting Homelander himself as the overarching villain). He feels more human than Homelander, because he was human first and a supe later, which makes him more relatable and charming in certain moments, but makes his cruelty more uncomfortable in other moments because it's more reminiscent of abuse someone would encounter in real life as opposed to Homelander's more theatrical style. I also think it's interesting that as far as their public personas, Homelander is an aspirational figure for children (especially boys), whereas Soldier Boy is an aspirational figure for men with his classic brand of masculinity and toughness, which is mostly BS because he's all sorts of messed up and traumatized himself.
