La Baanga

The summer of 2003 was a magical one for me. The first week after school ended, my friends and I went sailing in the Florida Keys, and I spent my 18th birthday on the water, spotting dolphins. Then I got home where the 5th Harry Potter book was waiting for me, having just been released. And then in theaters we had both this movie and Finding Nemo debut, two of the most timeless adventure movies ever.

omg I love Johnny Depp so much. Just perfect in this role. He helped creating the character, no one else could play him. And just as brilliant is Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. Two incredible actors with great chemistry. Their scenes are my favorite. Their banter is just iconic. I love how he always rolls his eyes at Jack. He's so annoying 😂 Barbossa is a great character, it's actually sad that he wanted to feel something again and then the first and last thing he felt was cold. 😕 I loved Johnny Depp since I saw this in the theatre in 2003 when I was 13. Watched it 14 times in the cinema and then about 100 times later on 😂😂😂 I basically know the entire movie and dialog by heart. I'm also a big fan of Jack Davenport as Commodore Norrington. He's honorable, he does everything for Elizabeth and I LOVE that they didn't paint him as a villain just because he's Will's competition. What do you mean "you didn't expect this" when he let's Will go at the end. 🤨😂 Norrington wants nothing more than Elizabeth to be happy and he accepts her choices. That's his character for the entire movie. He's great - and also one of my favorites.

I got to play the music to this movie in concert band in high school, and it was a blast! My favorite part to play was when they walk under water to attack the British forces, that part is a blast! Thanks for posting!

Ludwvin Martinez

Captain Sparrow and The High Sparrow in the same movie. Nice.

Nina

Did you recognize Gouvernor Swann (Jonathan Pryce)? Maybe without the wig. He also played The High Sparrow on Game of thrones.

Quetzalcoatl

There's an after credits scene for all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, this one you missed has the monkey steal a gold coin so it's immortal again

Lau’

So so exited for the second one

Roni

Nice! :-) I saw it first in a cinema in my second home city of Sarajevo :0) 39:32 "Parley" is just a jumbled version of "parler", which should be familiar ;-) Btw. the one-eyed pirate is played by Mackenzie Crook, who is otherwise best known for his role as Gareth in the original Office - the role which was transformed into Dwight Schrute for the US Version.

Nina

she recognized him the second he showed up...she even mentions it.

Razzer95

Oh my god you are right I completely missed that hahaha I must have skipped a few seconds ahead my bad!!

Haven’t seen this movie since I was a kid but I remember being visually stunned, it’d be fun to watch it now especially because I haven’t seen the newer ones.

I could have written this comment myself! I loved the score too, and I would listen to it regularly when I was doing homework (music with words is distracting), and I knew where the dialogue would be because I'd watched it so many times. 😂 For me, CoTBP is my favourite in the saga as it's the one that made me fall in love with the franchise. After this, I watched Sleepy Hollow, and JD's performance is fantastic and hilarious, so I hope Sofie watches that at some point

Michael

I loved it! :) Can't wait to watch the rest of the trilogy with you :)

“This is what it means to fail successfully” Literally Captain Jack Sparrow.

Alexis Cardarella

I can't wait for you to watch Black Sails. It's somewhat of a non-supernatural R rated version of this and an utter masterpiece.

Laure

Even if as a period drama lover i usually hate the cliché of the stays too too tight and preventing breathing i love the beginning of the movie and how its introduce the story 😂 Really some of my fave movies of all Time and ship (Elizabeth and will🥹) great reaction like always

Bxb

Is she going to watch it? I didn’t see it on any poll I would have voted

Alexis Cardarella

It hasn't been added to any poll as far as I know. I've been mentioning it and The Expanse as much as I can. lol

Antoine Kuin

Fun fact: Jack Sparrow walks like that because he’s spent so much time at sea that his body is still adjusting to land. Sailors develop “sea legs”, meaning their balance adapts to the constant rocking of a ship. When they’re back on land, they can still move as if the ground is rocking. Johnny Depp exaggerated that idea to make Jack look permanently half drunk on land

So Will's dad's story... Yes Bootstrap was cursed alongside the other pirates so he would not be able to die however in response to him sending the mediallon to Will Barbossa had Bootstrap sink into the depths of Davy's Jones Locker (deepest part of ocean) which means his fate would be eternal drowning- the crew didnot realise till 'later' which could mean days/weeks/months after they needed his blood but they would spend many lifetimes trying to locate him in darkest depths of a ocean and probably would never find him so they went after his son's blood instead

Killuanatsume

Can't wait for your reaction to the next two movies.

SwissFemShep

Ah such a great movie😄😂 I remember watching this movie with my sister and my dad in theater😁

Keira Knightley who played Elizabeth Swan she played in Star Wars phantom menace she was the duty bound of Padmé when Tatooine was invaded by the droids. It’s so difficult to recognize Keira with his Queen Amidala makeup
