Seeing Levi cleaning his knife from blood reminded me of Elijah 🤣 They're the same. Both have that calm yet deadly and sophisticated demeanor 😍

No Regrets always hit me hard. I really, really was looking forward to your thoughts on Levi's OVAs and you absolutely delivered. I loved everything you said about the relationship and contrast between Erwin and Levi. Little insight, the song in no Regrets is called "So ist es immer" and it is indeed german. But I understand that it's hard to grasp, because the singer has a heavy accent and for me as a german, the phrasing is sometimes a bit unnatural. However, I really love the song and if you listen to the full version, there is an english part es well, where you can understand it better, even though the translation is not as accurate. I just translated the german parts, for everyone interested, because I totally see this song as something Levi would sing when he is mourning: Die Stühle liegen sehr eng These chairs stand very close Wir reden die ganze Nacht lang We talk all night long Dieser niedrige Raum ist nicht schlecht This small room isn't that bad Wir können uns gut verstehen We get along very well. So ist es immer, unser Licht ist nur das It's always like that, our light is just that Trinken und singen wir, begrüßen morgen We trink and we sing, we welcome tomorrow So ist es immer, unterm riesigen Himmel It's always like that under the vast sky Leben wir zusammen, die Nacht ist lang We live together, the night is long Da die Sterne nicht leuchten Kann der Mond auf diese Stadt nicht scheinen Because the stars are not shining, the moon cannot shine on this city. Schauten wir das Licht selbst an Singen wir unter dem Sternenmeer As we gaze upon the light itself Let us sing beneath the sea of stars

Everytime I hear someone say this song/opening has parts in German, I'm like "what?where?". Even though I'm German and I know it with most songs, I don't understand half of it If i don't have the Lyrics at the Same time😂

Fair, it is really hard to understand due to the accent and pronounciation 😭 and a lot of sentences don't really make sense, I guess. But I appreciate rhey tried and even if I have a hard time understanding the songs too, I just love the vibe. Like Bauklötze, banger song but hard to get as a german too haha

Levi's OVA is so damn interesting. I loved your reaction and you were really insightful, in particular regarding how Levi, and all the people from the Underground, were literally in prison in a way the others inside the Walls can't even comprehend. Just by virtue of their birth too, not even because they did anything wrong. It is such an insane social injustice and it really casts a light on how Levi thinks. Because of course he's not one to see "the bigger picture" or really letting himself dream - he lived in hell since he was born, and survival every day was the only thing he could afford to think about. His relationship with Furlan is interesting in that regard, because Furlan was actually the one who was able to dream of living above - and Levi typically makes it his mission, to help his friends realize their dreams. It is what he then does for Erwin. You're also one of the only reactors I've seen who admits Erwin is morally "dubious" in his treatment of Levi. Some people don't understand why Levi was so pissed at him, but come on ! Erwin literally kidnaps and blackmails Levi to join the Corps (it's that, or jail and death penalty with the MPs), using his privilege over Levi's very unfortunate circumstances (not like you really have a choice not to be a criminal in the Underground). Even if Levi had refused the Lovof's deal, Erwin would have come after him. He truly was a pawn there. And Erwin does it because indeed, he wants to use Levi as a weapon - which is not that great either, from a moral standpoint. At the same time, Erwin is the only one who truly sees the limitless potential of Levi, who trusts him to make the right choice (not to kill him lol), who helps him use his incredible strength in service of a greater cause - which resonates for Levi, because he does want to help people in general. Erwin doesn't see Levi as a street rat - he sees way beyond, he's utterly fascinated by Levi at first glance (his creepy smile during that chase lives in my mind rent free haha). And then, when he comes to know Levi as a person, and Levi comes to know him as well, they truly realize how much they complement each other, and they build their relationship into something so respectful, so equal - they both feel a deep devotion for each other. It's literally my favorite dynamic in all of Attack on Titan.
