The Israel-Palestine parallel is spot on.

When Owl reveals the name of Eren's Titan, it's a huge twist for Japanese audiences because of the title's double meaning. But that double meaning was lost in the English translation. In English, Attack on Titan naturally sounds like it means "humanity's attack on the Titans" However, the original Japanese title, Shingeki no Kyojin, actually has two different meanings 1. "The Advancing Titans" (Shingeki is closer to "violently advancing" than "attacking") Referring to the Titans violently advancing toward humanity. 2. "The Advancing Titan" The name of Eren's Titan, the Titan that moves forward seeking out freedom. For the first three seasons, pretty much everyone assumed the title simply referred to the Titans invading humanity. Then, Owl reveals that his Titan is actually called "The Advancing Titan", and the audience realizes that the series had been named after Eren's Titan all along. The English title 'Attack on Titan' was chosen by Isayama himself. I'm not sure whether it was because of his limited English at the time or an intentional choice. Since Japanese doesn't always distinguish between singular and plural unless necessary, a title like "Advancing Titan/Titans" could have preserved the original ambiguity. In English, however, that isn't really possible, so he likely had to make a choice. I think "Attack on Titan" is a powerful, memorable title, which helped the series become such a massive success though

Hi Sofie, I wanted to say thank you. I watched this outstanding series for the first time three years ago and was absolutely blown away. Since then, I’ve watched *Attack on Titan* at least three more times and, naturally, delved into the background story as well. Being able to accompany you as you experience this series for the first time is a precious gift to me. Your infectious enthusiasm and emotional connection to the story, the drama, and the music bring back the very feelings I had when I first watched it. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’m really looking forward to your reaction to the fourth season.

The journalists are the ones who helped the Scouts and the Reeves Company expose the Military Police's lies and the truth about the fake king "Was he a baby?" Wow... I've never thought about that.... Owl did say he turned children into titans so it's possible "Eren was not looking at the water, he was looking beyond it" Another amazing reaction! I've watched it 3 times, but you catch and make theories about subtle details than I ever did

What are "we" going to do after you finished watching this show😭 feels like i am stuck between two minds, one part of me wants you to watch it all right now and the other part wants this to not end anytime soon 😭

Yeah, that moment the name droped, I had to pause and think about the ramifications, and although I don't think "Aggressively pressing the offensive Titan" sounds great as a title, Attack on Titan doesn't never really made sense to me either especially retrospectively, I do think Advancing Titan is more thematically correct (and my preference by far) but also lacks the charging/attacking connotations that shingeki has originally. It's still a huge perspective shift that was beautifully handled, and thankfully doesn't take away from the moment.

Hey Sofie, just wanted to clarify that while the attack titan was in Marley, it wasn't under their control, it was still with the eldians which is why they say that Marley controls 7 of the 9 titans. Also, that titan that they saw was crawling towards the wall when they were heading to the sea, I love how they subtly tell us that they don't have to worry about it by having plants growing in the drag marks it created, showing that it's crawling so slowly that it would probably be decades before it reaches the wall

yasss youre finally done with the aot prequel 😂 cant wait for you to start the actual show

That sums it up well.

Hi Sofie! I've said this before but again, best reactor esp on AoT! Noone has ever understood these last S3 episodes like you did! You picked up not just the plot but the emotional impact. Omg. You understood how much it meant for Mikasa to hear Ymir's curse, seeing the sea, Eren's development and change, and the implications of touching Historia. Btw the guys Hange was talking to were the newspaper writers/publisher from early in S03 who she worked w together w Flegel. I can't wait for you to see S04 but I am also fearful for you. Same, I did not want this to end when I was watching!

Ya, before I started watching Attack on Titan, I thought “Titan” was the name of the place that the humans lived haha

Eren could have had that expression because he was experiencing Grisha's memories. Look at Grisha's face before Eren's — it's the same because Eren is feeling what Grisha felt. He could also have seen / realized something and reacted to it, as you said. And he didn't know before what happened before Grisha killed Frieda — it was the first time, because they had previously only shown glimpses, not full memories.

Hello there! I think you mentioned doing a video with the AoT songs. There is a great live recording video of some popular songs (Suite) that you might have meant. Is this one coming soon or after the show? :)

OMG, I couldn't wait for you to post this on YouTube, so here I am. I've never paid to watch reaction videos before. Honestly, I never thought it made much sense. But from the very beginning, I was hooked by the way you understood the show and how deeply you connected with it. It felt like someone finally understood how I felt when I first watched it. Although, to be fair, I had to watch it hundreds of times before I truly understood it. 😂 But once I did, I almost cried during every part of the show, just like you. This anime is a piece of art, far better than any Hollywood movie I can remember. And your analysis at the end? Mind-blowing, I must say. The way you grasp the philosophy of the anime and put it into words is amazing. For me, it's not just about watching a reaction—it's about sharing the experience with someone who is fully invested in a true and profound piece of art of this generation, yet so many people overlook. P.S. When are you going to react to the next season?
