The Shepherd

Discover how a humble shepherd became the heroic Prince James and engaged to a haughty princess before he met Snow in Fairy Tale Land, while in Storybrooke amnesiac David Nolan is torn between his wife and Mary Margaret when he gets some of his memory back.

Yeah, that's something great about this show. Pretty much everyone has a backstory that we get to find out. And they're all pretty interesting. Charming's is really interesting to me, because you just don't expect it. We're introduced to him as a Prince who marries Snow White and all that, then suddenly he's getting killed except that's not him it's his twin brother and he is actually a Shepherd who is forced to take his brothers place. I really feel for David in Storybrooke though. He's just so confused because of his memories and his feelings. They just don't match up for him and it's really sad. He wants to be with Mary Margaret, but then suddenly he has his "memories" back and he can't just leave his wife. And yeah, I feel for Kathryn too. She's innocent in all this. She's cursed too, and as far as she knows they're married and so in love. She loves him and is just so relieved to have him back after all this time not knowing what happened to him, but he's way too confused. Personally, I think amnesia makes things too complicated, especially in relationships. Because I don't think it's fair to hold someone to a relationship they don't remember. But it brings up an interesting and kinda horrifying thought. How many people are trapped in marriages with people they think they love but really they don't. How many people are probably married to people who they absolutely despised back in the Enchanted Forest?

So many people know David Anders as Uncle John from TVD, but I know him from an amazing show called Alias with Jennifer Garner - his character’s name was Julian Sark, and he was one of my first fictional loves. 😂

“Mr Gold” call to David saying ‘Charming’ was sooooo good , I’m glad you caught it. I don’t know if you noticed in episode 5 in the hospital he said it to Emma as well but in a more discrete way , hard to actually catch

Really enjoyed the storytelling in this episode. I like that this show can have "Slow" episodes like this that just tell you more about what the characters are thinking and feeling

This storyline is loosely based on the fairy tale The Prince and the Pauper! The story is about two lookalike men one is a Prince and one is a poor man who switch places! Thanks for the wonderful reaction SoFie!
