Klaus hiding his worry for Elijah behind anger is so heartbreaking. That moment he admits to Freya that the reason he had said no to getting Elijah's memories back was to protect him gets me every time. He loves Elijah so much, and yes he's angry at this version of him. He HATES the version of Elijah without his memories. But he loves his brother more than almost anything. He doesn't want to destroy him. :'( Hope deserves so much better than what she's got rn. The Hollow really just destroyed her life and I hate it. She deserves to have both her parents, she deserves to be able to be around her Dad without having to worry that they're gonna destroy the world. And Hope saying Hayley would hate this at her funeral! Back in S1 Hayley literally said that if she died and people threw a party she'd be pissed. (Which, totally agree...) Of course Elijah is resisting too. It's not even just about Hayley. There's so much pain behind that door that'll just be thrown at him. 1000 years worth of painful memories. Betrayal, murder, abuse, loss, grief, love, family. All of it. Hayley is just the most recent addition... :( The thing I find kinda ironic is the whole thing of Elijah apparently having loved Hayley for longer than Antoinette. Because if you do the math... Hope is 15. Elijah loved Hayley during her pregnancy, then there were the 2 years before the Mikaelsons were put in that sleep where Hayley was married for most of it and he was with Gia for a bit, but they still loved each other, then he spent 5 years in the Chambre De Chasse, (obviously still loving Hayley, but not able to be with her...) so that makes about 7 years. Which is the same amount of time he's been with Antoinette... Now, obviously Hayley meant SO MUCH to Elijah. And if Elijah with memories had to choose between them he'd always choose Hayley. But I just find it funny that Antoinette said something about "all the years he spent loving Hayley" as if it was so much longer than he's spent loving her. His family, yes, of course. That's 1000 years. But Hayley and Antoinette, basically the same amount of time... 🤣 And I feel for Antoinette. Because she is innocent. She doesn't agree with her Mother's opinions, she didn't want any of this. But she's the one being punished for it. (Which is ironic because if anyone tries to punish Hope or Klaus' misdeeds everyone will be so angry because it's not her fault.) So glad Keelin showed up too. Freya needed her. She puts everything on herself and Keelin is someone who puts her first. <333 Poor Declan though. The fact that no one told him SUCKS. :(

I like that you bring the Antoinette point. To me she’s a female jackson. Great person to their core and wanted what’s best for who they love but also don’t want to loose them. Not sure why so many people dislike her to me she treated Elijah with a lot of care and respect that I’m sure was what helped Elijah survive those 7 years (which the timeline you brought up of her and hayley with Elijah was quite mind boggling as well😂)without his family not to mention she was a victim in her mothers plan not a culprit. I actually really liked her like I did with Jackson just obviously there was a better ship 😅. And agree klaus has come so far and crazy that even with the death of hayley he can put aside that Elijah doesn’t hold as big of blame as many give him because klaus knows the reason why he chose to erase his memories and knows if it was the brother he knew he’d given his life without a second thought for hayley or hope the brotherly bond between klaus and Elijah even when 1 of them isn’t for the bond is always an amazing constant in this show. It’s always Elijah protecting klaus, klaus protecting Elijah or both at the same time!

Exactly. She’s done nothing wrong. Yes, she lied to Elijah about having met before. But like, it was one time 100 years ago. She loves him, and she wants to protect him. In fact, she was trying to talk to him about the fact that Hayley died. And about his family. It clearly upsets her that his relationship with them isn’t good at the moment. She clearly cares for him. And yeah, she’s obviously worried about losing him. Like she said, everyone knows of Elijah’s devotion to his family. Plus, I think she knows what Klaus knows, that getting his memories back at this point would destroy him. And she’s not gonna want that either. You know what? Jackson and Antoinette should’ve got to meet and be together. That way everyone would get to be happy. 🤣 Yess! I just love how much Klaus cares about his family. Anyone else would be dead for what happened to Hayley. But with Elijah he just wants to protect him from that truth. He’d rather this Elijah suffers through losing Antoinette, than the real Elijah having to suffer through the loss of Hayley. And yeah, their bond is one of my favourites ever. They’re so protective of each other. Also, yes! Klaus knows that the real Elijah would do ANYTHING for Hayley, Hope and the rest of the family. Honestly, I like to think of Elijah like this in a similar way to how I think of characters when they don’t have their humanity. He just can not care about his family. He doesn’t know them, he doesn’t love them, he doesn’t remember any of the good times. All he’s heard about are the bad times. Of course, he can still care about people. But he just can’t care about his family because he doesn’t know them. He’s pretty much 7 years old too, let’s not forget that. Yes, technically he’s 1000. But he’s only got memories of 7 years. He’s got the same morals, he still makes deals and gives his word and family still comes first. Only, the family has a no longer the Mikaelsons because they’re not the people he knows. And he’s easier to manipulate because he only has 7 years of life experience…

Omg jackson and Antoinette would be crazy, jackson hates vampires and Antoinette has a tragic history with werewolves 😂 it’s like set up for them to kill one another but they are very alike in the sense of loving hard and protecting those they love 😅 would’ve been a very interesting idea, you shoulda pitched it at the time 🤣 And I commented in another video something similar. Elijah’s family defined him at his core, I believe sofie said something along the lines of “how could this Elijah let a mother and daughter die” which was interesting to me because Elijah has always been ruthless when it came to defending the mikaelson family. Has killed many innocent people and done unspeakable things in the name of his family. Which at his core he’s still doing that, nothing has changed from that aspect. The only difference is he now considers Antoinette his family. Which like you mentioned a man with 0 memory aside from the 7 years he’s lived with Antoinette, that is his entire life, so she’s been his entire life and therefore his new family but with his erased memory is his only family and will do anything for her or anyone she cares for which was her brother roman. Only difference people see a difference is cause he’s no longer dedicated to the mikaelsons but more or so now dedicated to Antoinette. I hated the part he played with Hayley’s death but he at the very least maintained his protecting his family at all costs but just not the mikaelsons, which I could appreciate the writers for.

It would’ve been hilarious! 🤣 Unfortunately Jackson was already dead by this point. (Though I honestly think a love interest other than Hayley would’ve been good for him. For many reasons.) Exactly! Elijah has never really cared too much about what happens to others as long as his family is okay. He cares more than the others, but at the end of the day he sacrificed 4 innocent teenage girls in order to get the power they needed to protect his family last season. Like you said, the only difference is that it’s no longer for the Mikaelsons. It’s for Antoinette. She is all he knows. Therefore all he cares about. I’m always gonna be upset about Hayley’s death, she deserved better and it is heartbreaking that her last memory was Elijah stopping Klaus from saving her. But it just wasn’t his fault. I also love that when he’s about to open the Red Door this episode he hears Hayley telling him to stop. Obviously it was from that scene last season. But it just hits really hard because she wouldn’t want him to have to go through that. She’d just want him to be happy.

Victor

I also forgot to mention the great point you made about Elijah hearing nothing but bad things about his former devoted self to the mikaelsons. Throughout the whole series of the originals everyone who wasn’t Elijah viewed his postion in the family as tragic and sad. Even Rebekah said so many times he he cared more for them than himself in a sense of pity. Elijah was quite literally the ONLY one that viewed his positions as worth it and even he questioned it due to the misery and tragedy that came with it. So from an outside viewers perspective the postion Elijah played in the family was one full of endless torment. Which explains why Elijah refuse to help the mikaelson family and doesn’t want to remember as all he’s known of his former self is the pain that comes with his position. But yeah and interesting observation with Hayley saying No on the red door 🤔 never thought of that but adds so much more significance to the scene, now we wait for one of the most heartbreaking episodes in my opinion of the series 😭

DazzleFae

Exactly. All he’s heard is the awful things his family have done, and the pain that he had to endure to keep them together. And it’s true! Often he was the only one trying to truly keep the family together and it was destroying him. No one would WANT that. He just knows of the pain they all caused him. None of the love or the occasional happiness. Yeah. It’s something I’ve always found interesting about that moment. He hears his fight with Klaus about Aurora, with Klaus stating that he set his course and was the reason he became who he became, and then he hears Hayley tell him to stop just as he’s reaching for the door handle. Ugh yeah. Not ready. 🤣

Victor

Talking about klaus blaming him for setting his course (not related to this) but I also found it crazy that a few episodes ago Elijah confirmed he was also beaten mercilessly by mikael for trying to defend klaus. So many flash backs of just them showing klaus getting beaten and so many people would comment that klaus would get the worst of mikael and that Elijah and Rebekah were never treated like klaus. But found it cool that Elijah finally said in the series that he suffered the same fate as klaus when he would stick up for him, probably klaus never knew because he blacked out when Elijah was beaten, but adds more to there brotherly Bond anyways appreciate the convo learned a decent amount and that hayley stuff you said really put things in perspective 😅 appreciate it👍

DazzleFae

Yes! I’ve always taken it as Klaus didn’t ever see Mikael hurt Elijah when he’d defend him. And the fact that with Klaus it was Mikael hating him and just being the absolute worst and taking any opportunity to hurt him, while with Elijah it was only when he’d step in to protect his brother. Which of course, doesn’t mean he’s not absolutely traumatised by it. Anytime! I enjoy discussing this stuff! 🤣
