In the game, the big guy is called a bloater. They're probably the toughest enemy you have to face as they can kill you in one hit and require a ton of firepower to take down. When you first encounter them in the game, Joel and Ellie have this conversation: Ellie: Jeez, what was up with that big guy? Joel: He's been infected for a long time. We call 'em bloaters. So the game implies that the infected can turn into a bloater after a certain period of time, but doesn't specify how long it takes before they become one.

This episode destroyed me, i was a real mess, even knowing parts of how game went. I honestly broke down over sam alone, i was hopeful they became a team and stick together. Elle was so sweet with Sam too, i was desperate for her blood to work, anything really. This show definitely made me depressed after this episode.

I’m so glad Henry and Sam actually get a backstory in the show. In the game, because it’s first-person perspective focused, you don’t see any of this backstory for them. No Kathleen, no Resistance. I don’t know if that’s what was planned for the concept of the game or they just wrote it in for the show adaptation… But that’s another reason why The Last Of Us Universe works better as a TV series over a game series. Not that I’m knocking the game. They did well with what they had but there was limitations. This was one. With a TV show you can show multiple perspectives over just one. Over just the protagonists.
