I love Jayne in this ep so much, lol.

I think that Mal, Inara, and Nandi are all very much the same type of person, the independent frontiersperson that doesn't want to be tied to rules and societal norms, and that's why they all, um, get along so well. To Mal Nandi is very much Inara without the "complications" of living and working on the ship together.

Fun fact: The person who sings Amazing Grace is Angie Hart who also performs on Buffy. She and her husband often work together with Joss. She is the one who sings at the beginning and closing of "Conversations with Dead People". She also does backing vocals on Tara's "Under Your Spell".

As gross as Jayne is talking about getting "sexed", he is genuinely sweet to his partner. He even braids her hair during the planning session.

Such an a good episode. Joss Whedon was pissed with how the network marketed the show as a Sci-Fi action comedy when in he said it was really a character study but set in space. Also the actress that played Nandi was in one of my favourite shows The OC.
