I have only gotten 5min into the reaction so far and you are so excited to hear this episode is about buffy and that you dont wanna get your hopes up, i have to say the reason why you dont see sarah michelle gellar is because of scheduling conflicts, plus the the actual episode that sarah was originally supposed to be in was the cordelia episode titled "your welcome", which was actually not supposed to have cordelia but because sarah was too busy(scheduling conflicts) they rewrote the episode and brought charisma and to make it a cordelia episode.. it also makes you wonder if sarah was able to do the episode, would joss have brought charisma back at all

Oh and also when it comes to the immortalinever new it at the time when it aired but they are actually referring to dracula, who buffy met in the season 5 premiere of buffy

This episode is hilarious and I love the flashbacks and the Dru and Darla cameos. I watched it for the first time so long ago that I don’t remember my initial disappointment when I realized Buffy wasn’t going to appear. However I’m not sure I would’ve wanted her to with how Spike and Angel were behaving. It was funny for sure, but they are completely cartoonish and flanderized versions of themselves. Which I’ll let slide because we’re so close to the end, but they’re acting like class clowns in the flashbacks and not the two most evil vampires documented in occult history. But James and David really are a golden comedic duo. And Amy Acker is so fantastic she blows me away. It’s so hard to be upset about Fred’s death while also being happy for Amy getting to flex her acting skills and this was probably really good for her career too. I know this is tiny and trivial but it still bugs me to this day that Angel said Buffy’s eye color was blue lol

I love this episode and think it's one of the funniest of the series. However, I can understand why others might be mixed on it. Having an entire episode revolve around Buffy, but never actually showing Buffy, was definitely a controversial decision that undoubtedly frustrated some fans. I think the episode is probably more enjoyable on repeat viewings where you know in advance what you're getting. It was basically just the writers doing a fun episode where they tried to bring in as many guest stars as they could. Apparently Dawn was originally supposed to be in it, but she was busy with the movie EuroTrip, so they got Andrew instead.

There weren't any scheduling conflicts; David Fury's said that Sarah was never going to be in this episode, that the joke was always going to be that they never ended up actually seeing Buffy: "There was very, very little talk about that. No, she was never going to be in that. The missed opportunity to see Buffy was always going to be the joke of that. It's the tease of, they're going to see Buffy, and they can't quite get to her. It's sort of the _After Hours_ kind of craziness where it's like, I can't get to her, I can't see her, and that was always pretty much decided." Maybe you're thinking of Michelle Trachtenberg? She _was_ originally going to be in this episode instead of Tom Lenk and couldn't because of scheduling conflicts. Also the Immortal isn't Dracula, they're entirely separate characters. If they were the same, Spike would've had more to be upset about in Buffy vs. Dracula than Dracula owing him 11 quid. Plus Darla explicitly said the Immortal wasn't a vampire, and the Italian W&H CEO said he doesn't use magic.

My comment more had to do with the cordelia episode which are facts but for this episode Yes i know about david furys comments, the fan theories are if sarah was able to do this episode and appear in any sort of fashion, they would of rewrote some of this episode to have her appear, but again sarah was really busy filming other projects with life after buffy

"You give us the money, we give you the head." In the US "head" is a term for fellatio. You may want to revisit that part of the scene with that in mind lol

This is one of my favorite episodes and one of the ones that I most consistently watch as a stand alone. It's just buddy comedy excellence. I'm probably in the minority here but I prefer Buffy wasn't actually in it other than that brief glimpse of another actor. I feel like for the tone of the plot which centers on how Spike and Angel both feel about her, we wouldn't have gotten any sort of satisfying conclusion beyond "I love you both but idk" which is a little too close to TVD stuff for me, and I prefer Chosen being her TV sendoff over whatever including her in this triangle would have been.
