In all deference to people who love Charmed - I was genuinely surprised to find out it still has such an audience. To be fair, I'm a plot guy. Charmed admittedly has wonderful casting for the sisters and very warm character work, but it's from an era before consistent plotting became almost mandatory for popular shows.

100 % agree. I started watching Charmed when I was 12 and it was my favourite show for many years. Then I started watching Buffy and suddenly realized all the flaws that Charmed has. :-D But even though I think Buffy is much, much better, I still think Charmed is a solid show. As you said, it's just from a different era, before people started demanding continuity and questioning plotholes.

I'm glad you finally got to hear the REAL Charmed theme song. :-) It's so much better than the replacement song. Does that mean you are watching a different version now? (DVD's?) Also, I don't think this episode is particularly bad. It has the same imdb rating as episodes 2 and 3. I guess it just wasn't your cup of tea.

Yep! I watched Charmed as a new (and very tired) mom when it was already in syndication and fell in love with the sisters (I was also already a Shannen Doherty fan). It was many years later that I watched Buffy and yep- it's a better show. But Charmed is what I go back to again and again for episodic rewatches. When I watch Buffy, I tend to do full rewatches.

Admittedly this is one of the weaker episodes. Like with other shows season 1 can be very hit and miss as they were still trying to find their feet but there are still some great things to come as the show develops.

Also to answer your question about the soundtrack Sofie yes the original music used throughout the show does make a huge difference but there’s no way to really explain it without spoilers.

Worst 😳Episode 🫣EVER 😖The first scene feels like a spoof of a telenovela. This is as bad as it gets. So glad you got the dvds! Nowhere to go from here but up.

This really isn’t the worst episode for me, I like the early concepts we get in the first arc of season 1, it sets the melodramatic tone but also the more mysterious witchy atmosphere we get in this season. The next episode is one of my all time favorites!

1 of the producers of the show regards this as the worst episode of the series 🤷🏽‍♂️ Season 1 of Charmed is that awkward phase where it’s still trying to find its footing. It’ll pass.
