Hey there GGN, since I feel like I'm gonna have my nose to the grindstone for a bit I figured I'd fill you in on where my heads at. So, The Darkness won the discord poll and I've been playing that and capturing footage for it from the 360 version while taking notes. It's certainly one that I've wanted to cover for a long time and I'm excited to get deeper into the process. Meanwhile I've been working on the script for a longform video about a game I already covered, though it was several years ago, Nocturne (1999).I don't really plan on addressing it much within the video, so I'll let you know here, some of the reasons I wanted to do this. For one, when I made the video for Nocturne it was when YouTube wanted you to go for clicks instead of minutes watched so I was always trying to make videos as short and to the point as possible. Weird to think for so long I worried that people would despise long videos and not bother with them. Since I started making them longer, Ive found that this is the kind of content I enjoy making the most. A big ol thing that makes me PC lag just looking at it's timeline. Reason number two is an extention of that, I love Nocturne and I have so much of my formative love of games wrapped up in it so it doesn't feel right being a short video I made when I wasn't nearly as competent at making them. In a way I knew even then that someday I'd want to remake it or at least that I wasn't ready to do what I wanted with it. Reason the third, I fucking hate that video. I understand some people enjoyed it, but it has, over the years, actively bothered me. Like a weird discolored blotch on my channel. I think I even make a weird unprovoked Gamergate comment in it without knowing much about the cicrumstances around that event other than, "Huh, guess people are mad at some lady." It was just a gamer thing I could comment on and Nocturne deserves better. It's too much of a part of my love of games to not be more in line with my recent output. Which kinda leads to reason four. Ideally I'd like to (in the near future) cover the other games tangential to it, which would include one other remake(maybe, but I really don't want to normalize that with myself) :- Blair Witch: Volume 1: Rustin Parr- Blair Witch: Volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock- Blair Witch: Volume 3: The Elly Kedward Tale- Bloodrayne (maybe, could also include its recent re-release and ports)- Bloodrayne 2- Aeon FluxThis is not at all like, my gameplan, just something I'd feel more excited to do without the open wound that was the first Nocturne video. There are of course other games I'd like to have in between as well as poll winners. This is all just a brainstorm here. We're just talking, but for sure I want a better Nocturne video. Since I'm sure it being replaced may bother some, I'll probably end up just making it unlisted and having that link somewhere here. In the past I've just taken videos to a shed out back when I feel they no longer represent what I want my channel to be, but I have noticed it upsets some who may have revisited it every now and then and I wouldn't want that even though it's hard for me to see any value in them. Just pls don't re-upload. ANY GODDAMN WAY, I'm trying to overlap the work on Nocturne/The Darkness so that you won't have to wait too long if the remade video doesn't interest you. Aside from that, I spontaneously devoted a couple days to making a song for a contest that CDPR is doing for Cyperpunk 2077. I already submitted it and it could wind up in the game which would be cool because the TTRPG setting is a big influence to me and if it doesn't then it was an excuse to add another track to the album I was trying to finish up anyways hehe. Either way I'll share it eventually because I think it's pretty fun. Umm...what else...I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the plates I been spinning here. I revamped my channel's banner which looks kinda neat and cybergoth now. Oh, if you use Tumblr, I'm gonna try to post there more since Twitter seems to be in perpetual flames as of late. https://at.tumblr.com/goth-gamer-nation/d6n42vttyrouAlright, I'll wrap this up. I felt like reassuring you that I have stuff I'm working on, which I feel more compelled to do when I'm actively fighting off burnout. Haha. More work! Fight burnout with BURNING🔥 sorry about any typos, I'm typing this on a phone while using a janky stationary bike. K byeloveyoubye

I'm starting to feel like most of my parasocial relationships are one-sided

Nocturne was a game I remember being hyped for when it came out but running it was completely outside my PC's power at the time. A suggestion I've been wanting to see in retro reviews is a short section that shows how the game looked/played on release. Seeing a game with a resolution and frame rate that was unobtainable for most people at the time can hide why certain titles weren't received well. Regardless, keep it up but take a break if you need to. The cash I spend to support your channel is easily one of the best expenses I have every month.

Let's go Grimbo. Any news on future EP or general music news?

I still have the big box of Nocturne, no joke. Have a few from that era but lost Fallout 1 and 2 to a basement flood. You can tell Terminal Reality was proud of that whole world they created. I never got too far in the missions, myself, as a kid. It was always nice to learn more about the game and its history as more and more people put out videos on it. Given the excellent form on this channel, I'm looking forward to this one.

I'm a big not fan of remake videos, especially if they're meant to replace an older one. With that being said: you do you girlfriend. I fucking love all of your content and I dgaf what it is, I just want MOAR. POUR IT INTO MY EYEHOLES GRIMDADDY. HARDER.

If you got more to say on nocturne, then go for it.

Don't push yourself if you feel the burnout coming, better you be healthy mentally, most of your patreon will still be supporting you if you take a break.

Don't worry my goth guy, if you feel like you need to revisit a game/video, you do you.

AVGN revisited his old videos. did a much better job at covering them too. Im glad you are leaving the old ones up. Nostalgia is fucking weird.

Hi, Grim sir. Is there a way to add a Thanks button in your yt so I can send money?

Oh man, Nocturne + The Darkness!? Xmas came early this year! Nocturne was the first video of yours I ever saw and the one that introduced me to your channel (around mid-late 2016 iirc). Been watching ever since. Very excited to hear you're looking to revisit it. Also, I've always secretly hoped you'd cover The Darkness one day. It's always been a favourite of mine and while replaying it recently I thought to myself "man... this game screams GGN". Very excited to see you covering it!

Welcome to my OnlyDans

I've been wanting to play The Darkness and would like to before your video is out but I have no access to it. I tried streaming it on my PS5 but the streaming is VERY bad. I also would like to play Nocturne in preparation for your new video on it. Oh well, maybe I'll find some way to play it. I love your videos Grim, I like to use your channel as a sort of video game book club lately. I've done so with Deus Ex, Planescape, and Signalis. Keep it up man!
