Quick Vocal Booth Preview/Clip (Patreon)

Here's a quick little clip of my custom vocal booth, that I ordered from vocalbooth.com. Had to put tons of money into it, but it's been worth every penny!I have a second monitor for the vocal booth, so I can just walk back and forth from the "control room" to the vocal booth and start singing. I don't have make separate vocal recording projects for a laptop and move files back and forth with an USB stick and commute to some rehearsal place to record, which I use to have to do all the time. So this has been saving a lot of TIME! :)In the right back corner you'll see the ISOVOX 2 which isolates the boxy room sound from the microphone and makes the vocal sound very intimate and better for post processing (which is a great way to record vocals "dry" if you don't have a nice big acoustically treated studio space).Inside the Isovox I have the sE Electronics RNT tube microphone, which is the best microphone I have found so far for my clean vocals (in this price range). The mid frequencies overall are nice and full and actually pretty neutral, which is a good thing. It has a really nice slightly forward upper mids and smooth silky top that compliments my voice. Been recording already some of the best sounding clean vocals I've ever done. Then for growling vocals I still use the trusty old Shure SM7B dynamic microphone. Still haven't found a better one for this purpose. It really captures the mids and upper mid frequencies 1 - 3kHz really well, makes the growl detailed and crispy. It doesn't really pickup the high frequency "air" that much, which is not really needed for growling vocals in my opinion. I have always found that dynamic mics work best for growls and condenser / tube mics best for cleans. Both mics are going directly to Universal Audio's Apollo x8p interface. On the interface the vocal signal goes through the Unison technology Neve 1084 preamp and 1176 compressor. (You can find my settings in the forum).Really happy with this setup!
