Regarding the part about strings in the end, I don’t really like the coated strings. They sound absolutely fine, but after a while they still sound fine, but feel dead. Hard to explain.

Funny you should say that, DR has always been my favourite. Not by the sound really, but how they feel while playing. Coating does something I don’t like. Not the coated DR’s either.

For me the NYXL's wound strings seem to buzz way more than the regular set with the exact same setup and they don't feel right for me. I always go back to the regular d'addario sets. What i've found is that DR tite fits have the least amount of buzz on the wound strings, but they also sound very dull compared to D'addarios. I think that is because the DR tite fits have a round core and D'addarios use a hex core, which is more common nowadays. DR's also intonate differently, so i've always had to make quite big adjustments, even when using the same gauges and tuning. I also think that's because they have the round core. I prefer the feel of DR's more than D'addarios, but quality, price and availability has not been so great with DR's, so i usually just use D'addarios. Lately the DR quality has been alright, but in the past i had many sets in a row that had a string that wouldn't intonate at all, or the ball end falling off or some other problems. But i think i can only order them from 2 places in Finland and the availability has gone worse over time unfortunately.

god damn.. I just caught myself thinking: what if the new wintersun stuff seriously brings meshuggah and djent bands intro trouble being so technically profound (they are) :D I know Jari does is for the music, but that would be so funny :D
