Entered - how could you pass up that opportunity! Awesome!

Autumn Teeter

I am so jealous! I was just looking to see if volunteering was possible as I would LOOOVE to join a future dig. But alas I am many thousands of miles away! This is going to be amazing.

Ingrid Mayer

Ohhhh would be first in the queue. Unfortunately will be still recovering from surgery at that time :( Please do this again for another dig!

Michael Sperry

Greetings from the West Coast of the United States. Wish I could volunteer, but travel to the UK is not in the cards at this time. Good luck to whoever wins this amazing opportunity, and please let us know how it's going! It would be fun to see this from a fan's perspective.

Jessie Doherty

Signed up! All the way from North Carolina USA. Fingers crossed I’m among those who are selected!

Paul Smyth

I'd love to but I'm just too damned old and weary lol. I could come and make brews

Nick Butt

Have signed up and am booking a camp site space immediately! A once in a lifetime opportunity!

Jamie Goodman

Been a fan of TT from day one and there is no way I could pass on this opportunity to actually be physically involved. I'm only 45 mins up the road from it too. Can only hope 🤞🏻 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Katrina Copping

I worked on the original 80's dig for a few years with Martin Carver. So have definately entered :) x

Andy Gabriel-Powell

Oh no! I'm out of the country that week so I can't even enter 😭😭😭

defythemachin3

Oh my goodness - if only I was over there (I'm in USA)!!! Fab opportunity for a few lucky souls!! Make the most of it! 🙂

defythemachin3

I hear ya! I can make the cakes! 😁

choklityum

Oh, wow! I wish I could apply, but I already have a trip planned during that time. 😭 I do hope you'll offer further opportunities to join TT on a dig. Please???

Wessex-Wyvern

Oh, I wish... But I could not get there. If you ever do a dig in Wiltshire, though 😉

Sariah Smith

I would love to take part. My father got me into Time Team and it’s just up the road too

Mechanical Muse

I KNEW there was a reason I bought that trowel and t-shirts! Fingers crossed!

Chef Tess

I live in Colorado, USA. This year I am saving up, renewing my passport and planning on volunteering hopefully in 2025. I told my kids that when I was growing up I wanted to be an archaeologist. Now my kids tell me since I retired this year, why not go live my dream!

Rob Treen

Only been a fan since just before Xmas and now can't get enough of archaeology, gutted I wont be able to get to Sutton Hoo to volunteer but maybe or hopefully a time team visit to lancashire could happen in the future. So much to explore like castercliff, castle steade, Warton crag or the new discoveries at Bourne Hill, or help solve the mystery of Ptolomys Portus Sentantiorum... I can but hope, or find a local group to join

Rob Treen

And yes I hate auto correct😂

Olivia Wilson

Gahhh!!! I've never been so excited! I'm a brit who lives in the US and this falls exactly when I will be back in the UK with nothing to do before attending a wedding!!!! The stars must be aligned for me rn. ⛦◜▿◝

Simon Orchard

Currently excavating as a volunteer at Magna Roman fort on Hadrian's wall. I can't make Sutton Hoo but to anyone considering volunteering on this or any other dig, all i can say is you won't regret the experience. Having watched TT since the beginning i can also say it's helped me understand many of the techniques, not least the importance of a clean and straight section! The only difference is, we don't have just three days to do it!

Shannon Wells

I sure would love to volunteer for this but I'm in the US and airfares are through the roof. I'll be there in spirit.

Mark & Jill Jefson

I would love to travel over the top and drop by from Alaska.

Dorothy Frank

I would love to! But, I'll have to watch and experience virtually.

Pete McLaughlin

Time Team + Sutton Hoo is orders of magnitude greater than the sum of its parts. Form submitted and fingers crossed! Good luck to all who are hoping to join the dig

Craig Richardson

Absolutely gutted that the only day this year that I have anything I can't get out of is the 20th. Would have loved to have had the chance to take part, especially as I only live an hour up the road, but what an incredible opportunity this will be for those lucky enough to take part. If you find yourselves short of tea makers for the first two days, give me a shout; I'd happily offer my services in any capacity.

Under The Bodie

I'm in and 30mins from the Dig fingers crossed

Patricia Amero

Too bad we couldn't travel together... I'm right next door to you in the Yukon. That would be a hoot... A Sutton Hoo Hoot 😅

Patricia Amero

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get this incredible opportunity, and have to turn it down. 😥 I'll be there in spirit, my name waving on our flag, with me cheering loudly from the sidelines in Yukon, Canada.

Patricia Amero

Best of luck with your surgery, Ingrid. I hope you heal quickly and can get in on a future dig 🤞

Patricia Amero

I could crawl around under the finds table, like a puppy waiting for dropped morsels of goodness. 😁

Kerie Receveur

I’m in the middle of exams and things so won’t be able to, but I’m on the flag (with my late father), so there in spirit!

Patricia Amero

Best of luck on your exams...and I'm sure he'll be with you in spirit when you graduate. 💞

Carl Johnson

Love this opportunity, sadly I've already booked holiday travel for that week and can't change it. Crossing my fingers for a similar opportunity next year. Best of luck to all that do apply.

Jim

Is it possible to visit the dig at the weekends during June? Like many I can't volunteer due to work and family, but it would be amazing to see it.

Ramona Ramsey

Wow!! Wish that I could volunteer on a dig!! If the dates were a month later!!

Daniel Imhoff

Me too. In US but fingers crossed

Richard Seaton

2 hours away and hoping for the best!

Craig Richardson

Just spent the day at Sutton Hoo, they all seem very excited by the upcoming visit from Time Team, and are expecting quite a boost to visitor numbers for the duration of the dig.

KatMonsterArts

Oh man, I wish I could go. My dog is 17 and can't travel. Keep asking for volunteers maybe I'll be able to make one. Not too soon, but in the future.

Nick Butt

When will lucky people be contacted to say they are a volunteer?

TimeTeamOfficial

We will contact successful applicants ASAP after the closing date 24th May. Please look out for correspondence via the email address submitted on the form. Applicants will need to respond immediately and will be required to complete and return additional paperwork ASAP before 31st May in order to secure a place. Full details will be provided to successful applicants via email. Thanks and good luck!

Mechanical Muse

Got a plane ticket picked out and ready to roll just in case I get lucky!!

Michelle Cailes

I have a question that is niggling me. I don’t meant to sound ignorant or even disrespectful. •How does anyone know that the Sutton Hoo Burial Ship was built just for that purpose, or, if it had been built, sailed and then buried with its occupant and g/goods? Watching the Sutton Hoo Ship reconstruction episode and it’s so interesting and fascinating. I’m blown away by all the facets coming together. It’s going to be amazing. Coming from Australia, sadly we don’t have such an ancient and archaeological heritage as the UK. Seeing the ship finished, the burial sites and the artefacts that have been discovered over the years, would be an amazing experience and an event of a lifetime. 👍🏻🫶🏻

Laura and Alex Tovey

Can we assume if we haven't been contacted by now we weren't successful?

Dazzle Monroe

We believe the boat had been sea-going due to a repair that has been found in the hull. It's also unlikely that a boat would be built specifically for a funeral due to the length of time it takes. The body would be a bit ripe by the time it was finished. I believe ( but have to confirm) that the rivets showed sea water was a factor in the rusting.
