Time Team Special: Rediscovering Ancient Britain | Classic Special (Full Episode) - 2012 Dorset

** CLASSIC SPECIAL RE-RELEASE ** In this classic special the Team sets out along the South Dorset Ridgeway, a 27km stretch of chalk downland running south of Dorchester from West Bexington to Osmington Mills. This striking landscape, once rich in flint for tools and stone for monuments, is dotted with ancient sites such as The Grey Mare and her Colts, Maiden Castle, and Chalbury. By combining new scientific advances in radiocarbon dating with phenomenological approaches to the landscape, the team explores how people lived, worked, and worshipped here over thousands of years. From the arrival of bronze and iron to the transformative impact of the Romans, the Ridgeway reveals the shifting story of Britain’s past.
