Fabulous podcast! Loved the conversation about what the Saxons might have thought about the Romans.

Pauline Purcell

Oh this was so very interesting! Thank you!!

Fiona Ducrey

Wonderful episode, please do more!

Giles

really interesting and definitely a 'want' from the TT team. Helen as ever so knowledgeable and just a great listen. Love the thoughts around the 7-9th century folk having all those roman remains and items around them and the question of what they thought of them and how they interacted with them, beyond robbing the stone from the buildings for their own use!!

caroline cleaveley

Hi there. can you let us know what is being found on the universal site at kempston in Bedford please. caroline.

Great podcast, yes please for more. And can Helen record an audiobook version of Bede, I’d love to hear that.

Alana Tolstad

Once I got into the routine of listening, I enjoyed this!

I enjoy listening to these very much so yes, I'd like to hear more if possible. I'd also agree with Michael Crouch's comment about an audiobook version of Bede. Thanks again.

Gin

Magnificent pod! I was thrilled to wake up to a bonus podcast answering questions many of us have. Yes, I would definitely enjoy more. I cannot seem to absorb enough learning from Helen and the Time Team! Thank you!

ChickenHawk

Love the extended Q&A. As always, a dig can seem limited at first (1 grave) but the complexity is in the details.

Simon Orchard

Thank you so much for answering my question. Having excavated for several years with the Vindolanda Trust i've seen how the site was occupied and changed after the Roman period, it got me thinking about what the landscape must have looked like in the mid Anglo -Saxon period. From my understanding, for example, Hadrian's Wall remained more or less intact for centuries after the Romans. It must have been fascinating and quite eerie travelling through England at that time.

Lyn Baines

Thank you for the bonus episode, lots of fascinating information.

Leanne

I really enjoyed the two podcasts. I end up listening while doing housework and it's lovely company!

lindsay walker

If the AngloSaxons did not believe in an afterlife, why were food items placed in graves?

Tony

A fascinating and enjoyable bonus. Helen says she could talk forever as if it’s a bad thing, I am certainly happy to listen forever. More please

Jennifer Thompson

So much interesting information, shared with assurance and warmth. More bonuses, please.

Fiona D

I could listen to Helen an hour every day, but I doubt she has time. In fact, I hope she is not over working! More bonuses, but within reason.

Fiona D

I keep thinking of Tolkien and Lord of the Rings. Middle Earth seems to have that kind of landscape. And Tolkien was a Scholar of Anglo-Saxon literature, with those influences also in the novels.

Fiona D

Could be a Time Team fundraiser

Valory

Helen's explanation of the reason behind Roman items put in graves was incredibly helpful to understanding changes in society in this early period, thank you. I loved this podcast.

Kathy Carlson

This is just marvelous! I had NEVER thought about Roman buildings still standing after the Romans left. My mind is whirring with the possibilities! Yes, I want more bonus material!!

Alison Fuller-Shapcott

Fabulous podcast- such excellent questions and so much to think about from Helen.

Richard Abbott

Very interesting. I think a bonus podcast a couple of weeks after a new episode to focus on the questions about that episode would be a great addition.

The more podcasts, the better. They are the best!

Cassandra R. Davis

Bonus segment was great. Please, do you more of these. Loved the explanation, details, and references given in the episode. Thanks.

Marian

Yes, please, more podcasts the better! It's wonderful to hear Helen's knowledge. She has an excellent way of explaining things. I learn more every time I listen.

Absolutely please do more of these special episodes! I had so many questions after the episode and getting to hear these answers from Helen was absolutely great. I often had questions after the old Time Team episodes about what happened to the finds and what research was performed on them and how they might fit in with a wider picture! This is a real treat to be able to watch a modern Time Team and then immediately come onto Patreon and search the episode title to find any follow up posts about it! I would also love to hear more about the early Anglo Saxon world in general from Helen. These are fascinating questions.
