We have some super exciting news that we know you’re going to love…

We’re giving a small number of Time Team Members here on Patreon the exclusive opportunity to volunteer on our brand-new Brancaster dig later this month!

We’re returning to the Late Roman Fort of Branodunum, teaming up once again with our partners at the National Trust, Historic England, Wessex Archaeology and Operation Nightingale to uncover what else this remarkable site has in store. And now, a handful of YOU could be working right there alongside us — helping to uncover history in real time.

The important bit:Volunteers must be available from 11am on 24th March to 5pm on 26th March 2026 and able to commit to all three days. Please note that accommodation, food and travel arrangements must be made independently.

Register your interest by 23:59 (GMT) on Monday 9th March 2026 using the form below:

Apply to Volunteer at Time Team's New Brancaster Dig in March 2026

Please note: places are extremely limited and registering interest does not guarantee a position. Volunteers will be selected at random in accordance with the event’s terms and conditions.

We cannot wait to share this experience with some of you.

My wife and I would have so loved to come but will be in Malta looking at the amazing collection of Neolithic temples

Clare Stapleton

Went to Sutton Hoo last year. One of the best days of my life! It was just like winning the lottery, but better because the memories will stay with me forever.

Kevin B

Filled in the form…….. 🤯

Neil

waaahh!! I have to be in Newark that week for stupid work .. :( Next time I guess..

Belle

Completed the form as soon as I saw the post! I cannot overstate the speed with which I would book a flight. 😁

Trisha Convery

This is LITERALLY my biggest dream in life! All things crossed

Jane McCormack

This would be a dream come true! Fingers crossed!!

It’s just before 4am here and I’ve filled out the form 🤞🏻 only trouble is - I’m not sure if I input my email address correctly (despite double checking!) 🥲. Those of you who have submitted an application - did you get a confirmation email? Thanks 💜

Helen Johnston

This would have been amazing but a bit short notice to get there from New Zealand

Kathy Ball

Applied 😁 would be fascinating, especially as I'm currently studying A276 Classical Latin: The language of ancient Rome 🤗

Felicity Fields

OMG! I would absolutely love to do this. Unfortunately I've already booked a holiday for those dates. :( And it would have been hard to get there anyway from the US on such short notice (though not as hard as from New Zealand)!

Simon Hulme KT

I'm all for a chance to join another archaeological dig especially a TIME TEAM one! I've already signed up

Paul Kozousek

Falling asleep to TT is so relaxing. Waking up to it is even better! Being on a dig would be the best. 😎

James Luck

If I wasn't on holiday then I would absolutely apply. Next time!

Hinnerk

Thank you TT for this opportunity. Sadly I can't make it (to much work for a boatbuilder in spring :-/ ). Good luck to all who try and have a great time!

Cheryl

And me with a broken leg...

Simon Hulme KT

I hope I can make it in time. (If I get a yes)

Denise Smith

Me too! As soon as I read it

Simon Hulme KT

Perhaps one day we could try to set up a dig at Arrowe park/Arrowe hall. The area has a long, colourful history. Some has been discovered, some has fallen into legend. Could be an interesting study.

When do we hear back if successful? I know it closes tonight

Dear Time Team, I am anxiously anticipating the results for the Brancaster dig. I missed my chance for the last one, and was so happy when I got my entry in for this one. I’ve gone on “archeological” vacations to Mayan sites, the Middle East and castles around Britain, and always wondered what it would be like to work on a “dig”. I’ve watched all the Time Team Classic episodes (most at least twice!) Getting to work on a Roman site with the Time Team crew would be a dream-come-true, bucket-list-checking opportunity for me! I’ve got everything crossed, and I’m wearing my lucky socks. Please release the results soon! I’m like a kid on Christmas Eve - unable to sleep (and my socks are going to get stinky if this takes too long…). Sincerely hopeful, AJ

Trisha Convery

Wondering that as well 🙏 good luck to us ALL 🥰

nigel@nigelsewell.net

Not me. Last year at Sutton Hoo they first posted general news on the equivalent of today in the evening, as they were still waiting for 11 of the contacted people for that dig to reconfirm availability at that time.

Emily Lloyd-Gale

I’m nervously checking my email every 5 seconds. 😂

Rose Macdonald

It was like this with Sutton Hoo 😅 so painful 🤣🤣

Emily Lloyd-Gale

I was too!! A friend of mine is a member of the wider Time Team crew, and keeps describing these digs to me. It’s so frustrating! 😂

Emily Lloyd-Gale

Still nothing?? They’re leaving us hanging…😩

Rose Macdonald

Going to assume all the people who heard arent on this message feed 😆 cos im sure they have got back to people 🙂

Nick Butt

An update would be appreciated from TT. It's only just over a week to go and there's things like booking leave from work or arranging accommodation. We can't all go at a drop of a hat but equally would like to know that we aren't on the confirmed list or a reserve list.

Kirsty

Thank you all for showing an interest in joining us at Brancaster. We have now contacted all successful entrants by email, and we are still waiting for a few responses so please do check your inboxes. We know many of you will be disappointed, but we aim to have more opportunities for volunteering across the year. :) Thank you.

Nick Butt

Thanks for replying so quickly

Helen Ogleby

Thank you for letting us know. I can get to Brancaster in 2 hrs, so if you need anyone last minute I will be there like a shot!!

Trisha Convery

Thank you for letting us know! Either way I can’t wait for the episode!

Steve

It looks like I wasn't successful very disappointed. I would have thought an email to the unsuccessful applicants wouldn't be difficult.

Steve

Will there be any opportunities to view the dig / progress? I will be at Holkham next week. I can also be available if you need extra pair of hands at short notice.

Tamsin Warren

I live in Watton so I’m hoping there’s an opportunity to visit!

Denise Smith

How do we know if we got picked? Have they picked the people already?

Birna Magnusdottir

Will there be more volunteer opportunities? Maybe this summer? I live in Iceland and the semester is still in full at this time. Im mastering in Historical archaeology at the university of Iceland and Medieval studies and would love a little experience abroad
