After an amazing 3 day dig, the time has come to pack up the trowels and back fill the trenches.

We've had such a great time excavating Branodunum and can't wait to show you all the exciting finds and discoveries! Its been truly magnificent!

We also wanted to give a big thank you to all of you for being such great fans and supporting this dig, we really couldn't do it without you. Stay tuned for many more clips and bits coming from Brancaster over the next few weeks before we release the full episodes in the coming months. We can't wait to share it all with you!

But before all that we hope you enjoy this last instalment of dig watch, until the next one!

Janet Sutton

Thanks! Can’t wait to see the final production. Hoping to see some of you on Orkney in July.

Kevin B

When I get home this is what I’m going to watch 👍😊

Christopher Woodyard

Fantastic thank you time team can't wait to see it YouTube 😀

Elaine P

This may be the most entertaining Dig Watch episode yet, I'm still laughing. But in all seriousness, it sounds like some significant information was unearthed. Major disappointment about the gate wall, but hoping that will be offset by what shouldn't have been found.... Thanks as always, TT!

P H Woodward

What a Tease! Lol I want to know more now!

Gill Sawyer

Great to watch the "dig watch" episodes.

Paul Kozousek

Such an Amazing three days out on the dig, despite classic TT weather. Big up D, Dan, Mickey and the Crew. Not least to Carenza for all her patience for all our novice questions.

Gin

I have such anticipation for what is to come! Thank you for the update!

The Digging Gardener

Great dig guys. Congrats to the whole team. 🤘🏼🪏🪏🪏

Pam

I wish I was there.! Can't wait for the finished program.

Alex Krill

So it’s either WW2 ordnance, a grave or a mosaic found at the end of the final day…?! How intriguing! Wouldn’t expect anything less from TT :)

ron flory

The playback link back to youtube URL is missing- which makes some things awkward... please don't disable this.

Simon Orchard

Trust me, it's not just TT, i've done the, 15 minutes before the end of play on a Friday that has to get sorted out.

LouLi

Oh well that's exciting. Classic Time Team indeed!

Ilona Mollema

Thank you so much for 3 days of a fantastic dig! 🪏 I'm very curious what the result will be from "day 4". Hopefully the round of beers helped.🍻 Can't wait to see the entire dig on YouTube! Thank you again, for these marvelous Patreon episodes. ❤️

Graham Stokes

A gatehouse to a Roman fort revisited, a wonky building, a square within a square, and a big oval with rectilinear structure within it. Fantasy novel clues? No! Time Team archaeological digging!! Thank you all!! Glad to be aboard.

Carrie Hartley

I "ruddy" love archaeology too!Thank you all..so glad the weather improved for you. Xx

Kat Shelton

Aw, Matt, you've been promoted! Your expertise is far too valuable now!

Katharine Lloyd

I’m imagining how I would be feeling digging in a trench into 2000 year-old remains. I think I might be feeling a strange connection with the people who had built those walls, that long ago. Thanks for this!

Marion Tony McM

Here, here. Couldn't have said it better 🍻

Stephanie Greene

Can’t wait for the episode to find out what the square in a square was and what was actually found at the end of day three…. P. S. Jimmy looked good his arm armor! Maybe he has found a new calling as a Roman soldier😆

Zoe Propper

I have absolutely loved watching these behind the scenes videos.

Zoe Propper

Matt all grown up now 😆

Loz

This has been lovely to watch and very excited to see the finished programme. Is the wonderful Gus joining you for this one? Also will Lawrence's amazing yellow hat design be available in the Time Team shop at some point?

Paul Tomblin

I heard the voice of the guy who does the Roman legionary drilling, and it sounds like it’s the same guy as when Matt did it.

Cheryl

Sigh. Lovely! This was heartwarming and intriguing. Can't wait for the full episode. All the investigations of the finds, interpretations, graphics yet to come...

Robert Boudreau

I would have been surprised when Matt was asked about his re-enactments, if he hadn't said the Roman slave was the worst. That's the only TT episode I've ever found upsetting. Bad enough he was being bossed around like he was, worse was knowing it was freezing out and no one seemed to care how cold he had to be. I could only hope that between shoots they let him warm up.

Brett W Walters

The camaraderie of both the Old and New Time Team members is wonderful to see, include it in the episodes. Great Job everybody !!

Kerry Hennigan

Loved this. Dig watch highlights the characters on site, and what wonderful characters they are! Can't wait to see the finished program!

Mr Miller

Message for Alex at Time Team, Keith from Branodunum here finally!

David Boon

I made a comment on a recent Facebook post about it being nice seeing Matt digging and not being forced to pretend to be a Roman Legionnaire. Apparently I misjudged what it meant to Matt.

Stephanie Greene

You were there?? how exciting!! would love to hear more about your experiences as Patreon volunteer diggers!!!

K

Where's the YOUTUBE link???

A Bleese

I visited on Day 3 and met Lawrence and Derek for the first time. They're as lovely and welcoming and enthusiastic as everybody from the old Time Team whom I've met over the years. Thank you both - and to Tracey from the National Trust - for taking so much time to explain what was going on and what had been revealed so far. It should be a great programme.

Lee Gordon

How great would it have been if we'd had Dig Watch for the original Time Team?

Paul Kozousek

Weeeeelllll. I could tell you, but wouldn't want to ruin the episode for everyone. The quantity of finds between both the TT and NT volunteer groups was amazing. If only I could post teaser photos but I'm sure you've seen them on the Instagram pages. I have it on good authority that my boots or my pants will be eligible for credits in the IMDB pages. haha.

Carl Johnson

Someone has probably already asked, but is there any evidence of that robbed out wall material showing up in any nearby buildings or has it been too long and been moved further away?

Barbara B.

Jimmy dressed like a disco ball is definitely a highlight! 😆 Loved these dig watch episodes

Ann Wagner

Don’t speculate, excavate! - Phil Harding. Could that go on a t-shirt?

Ann Wagner

Jimmy’s under there somewhere.

Bron Lloyd

Thanks once again for sharing with us! Hey any chance of sharing some site-wrestles with us again and giving us a vote, just like it was at the beginning? :)

Mary Lu

Thanks for the chance to be an armchair archaeologist. It’s a pleasure to watch people doing work théy really enjoy, work that is exciting for them.

lee

They showed it in the village church earlier.

Kathy Calmejane

Aww, poor Matt missing the dressing up, I think we all thought the same thing!

Stephanie Greene

Yes, Absolutely no spoilers please!!!… but maybe could tell us your favorite find or most memorable moment 😁?

Paul Kozousek

The camaraderie was fabulous. Everyone involved got to "have a go". As for memorable moment the selfie with the team and Carenza was amazing. My Favorite find was definitely the hypercaust tile, completely out of context and potentially requiring a 3rd dig? lets hope they could and let it not be another 13yrs. :D (although that's probably more wishful thinking from my part)

Katy B

Lol! Jimmy at the end!

Gareth Tovey

I don’t mind funding Derek’s archaeological bucket list, it’s been great so far!

Dyana Mason

I can’t wait to see the full episode!
