Thank you for speaking to Professor Gordon Noble about our ancestors The Picts, like for you with the Anglo-Saxons, The Picts are central to our early Alba/ Scotland history. And, as Gordon Noble and team continue to study the hill forts and areas around our Pictish Stones, we are starting to bring the Picts into modern chronological context, where we may be able to have a story eith facts (via archaeological material) that will go in line with other tribal groups in the area, like the Dal Riata in Argyleshire, and the brethonic welsh speaking Strathclyde kingdom at Dumbarton Rock (later near Govan Old Parish Church). These archaeological projects up here in Scotland are central to understanding our early medieval narrative, why? ... as we know in mythology and folklore stories about where Kevin McAlpin came from, but to actually excavate material of the tribal group he would intermarry with centuries later, is something that feels deep in our souls as Scots. Thank you Time Team podcast.🙏👏

Re tracking Shakespeare. From all sorts of snippets including a recent (see Shakespeare the grain-dealing tax evader article . 2013) Documentary find regarding the bard and his sharp business practice re corn, (cereal crops for USA readers) it seems that he followed in his father's footsteps when it came to money making and was always 1 step ahead of the taxman.

Thank you so much for inviting us, it was an absolute pleasure to speak to you both, and completely surreal to chat with Helen after seeing her on screen for so many years - I have to admit I was a little star struck!

I always love to hear more about the Picts. It is so frustrating that they left so little tangible documentary evidence themselves. I have always loved the symbol stones, so tantalising, please please give us more on this? The new knowledge about Pictish settlement development in the late Roman -Early Anglo Saxon period is fascinating. I will follow with interest. Naomi! I am fascinated by environmental archeology. The idea that the identification of molluscs in the stratigraphy can give us clues of human burial sites after bone has decayed and left nothing but a ghost is amazing. Just to let you know how important time team has become for me recently. Over the last year my health has been hit by series of issues including bowel cancer (now in remission) newly diagnosed MS and Hydrocephalus. All these have hit my mobility and the ability to get out into the landscape for myself. I am a Geographer by degree and an Environmentalist by inclination and the outdoors is extremely important to me. I have also been a Time Team fan forever and am glad to be able to support this new phase. Listening to the podcast and watching all the content gives me a feeling of involvement and mental stimulation which is very important to my recovery and mental health. I also 100% agree with the reflections of Kathy and Nicola.

Great podcast! Can we have some pictures of the 15th century roof of the Kings Lynn guildhall? Would love to see it!

I have been with Time Team from the early TV programs and When I saw the invite to be a patron member of Time Team. I feel party of the thevztime Team family even though I am disabled. I am fascinated by the Orkney history, the Picts plus the Stone Henge history

Thank you for this podcast and access to the ebook! This is so great. I think I've posted it elsewhere, but Time Team has really affected our lives. When my husband and I were first married it was a bleak time for us. It was just after 9/11 and just before the wedding we both lost our jobs. While we struggled to plan next steps we watched Time Team on Youtube. One day my husband pointed to the screen and said I want to do that. I went to work and we sent him back to school for his degree in archeology. He's now working in Mississippi, Texas, and Louisiana, and I'm getting my degree in history research. We're proud to support Time Team to inspire a new generation.

This was all wonderful! I wish I'd known more about the Picts when we lived in Aberdeen in the 70s. I'm going to read that e-book (I'm in the States). And bless you for mentioning Mick Aston. I was thinking about him as I listened to the whole episode.

Beautifully presented and so full of wonderful information!

I remember sitting watching the first 3 episodes, Athelney , Ribchester and Much Wenlock and thinking oh I hope this carries on. Best Sunday TV ever. 30 odd years on and now post retirement each episode and podcast brings as much joy as those early days. I suppose one question I have is how is Phil? He bought a grounded sense of humour and purpose that made it seem possible for anyone to knapp a flint and dig a trench!

Like Nicola, I also have a 2019 Time Team baby and stumbled across Time Team in the same way. My son has done many excavations in our backyard over the years and is always eager to tell people about the “castles” and “barrows” he has discovered. He often brings home pieces of “Roman pottery” he excavated from the playground at his elementary school.

Q: I’m not sure if I’ve missed it but wondering, is there an update on Matt’s Expedition Crew rescue project chosen in May 2025?
