I agree with Miles, will be interesting to see the other buildings surrounding the villa. Hopefully there will be a stunning mosaic floor.

Robert Wise

Very good video and audio … thanks! Miles is great … his enthusiasm is inspiring! Sounds like a great dig plan to me! Any hope of identifying fields, quarries, etc. that were associated with the villa? Sounds like this villa dig might be a good subject for a Time Team re-visit in subsequent episodes?

Warren Feldman MD

I would love to know why these villas were abandoned and eventually destroyed when Rome left Britain

Robert Boudreau

Miles is a joy to listen to and watch. His depth of knowledge is astounding, not just in the Roman period. I remember in one episode, I think it was Blacklands, where they were digging what was thought a possible Mesolithic or Neolithic site, Miles was the go-to man on that. On another dig even Mick said "Miles is the man for this prehistoric stuff, he's the expert." I would love to see Miles involved with the Roman dig somehow. Sounds like he would love it too.

Martha Berryman

WOW Prof. Russell!! Thank you for your articulate enthusiasm for the major importance of CONTEXT. As a cultural anthropologist, CONTEXT is at the heart of Discovery and Meaning in any archaeological exploration. And you make it soooooo Clear!! Thank you!

John Matthew IV

Looking forward to seeing what the new Time Time can find.

Chris Ward

Great interview. It was mentioned other Roman specialists will be part of the dig. Any word if Guy is coming back?

Heather Flowers

I love Miles so much. His sense of humour just shines through and his knowledge is awesome. Can't wait to see him in action again.

Mark Cooke

All my trenches would be in the wrong places

Eggs Ackley

Brilliant insights from Miles! I liked his explanation of the difference between a villa and a palace.

E Anna Johnson

Absolutely brilliant. Love the "approachable" explanations. Have listened to Miles Russell elsewhere. I really learnt a lot from this, my only question like Warren Feldman above is how you gauge "the end".

Philip Stack

Great interview. Yes, the villa economy would be fascinating and is definitely under-researched. Where did the substantial sums to build and maintain this villa come from, and what about the community that sustained it and depended on it. These are the sort of questions that aren't solved in three days, so it is good to hear that Tim is considering a longer term commitment.

Alex Schultz

He is so positive and fun in this video and elsewhere. Love him
