So, has anyone analyzed any deposits on the overhead stones inside the fogou?

Fern Wilcox

Well another wonderful fougou chat. and with Matt! Derek and Lawrence Thank you again for your informal interviews. What's so wonderful is that I learn something (or more) new each time. Isn't exploring and learning terrific? I am enjoying seeing all the originals too! Cheers from Minnesota

Lee Olver

All the little details make it much more real and less like a reality tv show. The 3-D trench model is amazing and probably much more accurate and usable than the hand-drawn pictures. Can’t wait to see what it looks like when populated with the finds!

Martha Berryman

COMPLAINT!!! WHY is videographer using a wide-angle lense in the Fougou to "cleverly" triangle these clips??? WHY is our focused interviewee relegated to a distant apex!!! Matt, like Naomi was, is the star of the clip, Derek and Lawrence are the "support team" for the interview! Any more of these triangles? PLEASE! put the Interviewee up front, between, or alongside the D and L.!! And to Prof. Matt, thank you! As always genial good content!

Peter Frazer

Sound was not too clever on this one

Thomas Bougher

OMG! Matt has become Phil Harding!!!

Diane S Ratliff

Great interview. Derek and Lawrence do a great job. Of course Matt is always wonderful. And how amazing to see this awesome fougou. I can't help but wonder about all the people who labored to dig and build it. What their day to day lived were like.... More please 😊

Mark Lund

Yep, these 'interviews'/chats are great, and informative. And they are all so enthusiastic..still! Not about the job itself, archaeology, but about the programme making process. I'm sure it can be a pain getting the 'show' right, having the film crew around so much; maybe(?). But perhaps thats all about the producers, directors, camera people, and editors. Are the filed workers always looking behind themselves to see who may be watching, filming, listening? That said, lovin' it all!

Trish Murphy

See, Matt knows how to project his voice for outdoor interviews. No problem hearing him. Thanks to Matt for giving such thoughtful answers. Good questions too btw✌️💚

Ann Wagner

You all must be exhausted by now, on trench filling day. Thank you very much for continuing to produce content while we in the audience are still so excited about all your work. 👍🏻

Dan Angelino

These have been great, and the sound has definitely improved from the first day!

Richard Moss

Sound seemed pretty good on this to me. Great chat and loved it being in the fogou. This doesn't have to be TV perfection in terms of the way it looks. That's to come with the final show. I think Derek and Lawrence have done a great job in putting us into the action and getting access to the team. Hope there's more to come. Time Team wouldn't be Time Team without a pub scene surely?

Cheryl Kurucz

Yet again another fabulous interview this time with Matt! So lovely to see you again Matt. Thank you Derek and Lawrence! Great job!

I'm loving these chats. So interesting and great to hear the different answers to the same questions. I really appreciated the tie in to the 3D trench model and hearing how that was made and how it worked! Brilliant! You're all doing fantastic work!

Steve Gunning

Yes, just adding to those above a note of my appreciation for these all too short video chats. So wonderful to see Matt again, and it’s great to know that quality archaeological work is obviously being done on this mystery site as a result. The kids and I were just watching Matt on his first TT program back in Series 11, I think, as we are watching the programs in chronological order (on daily motion unfortunately, but it’s the only Freeview mode available here in Australia)

Jen Swan

I really like these Q and As please keep them up.

Born Idle

I think it might be more to do with the fact that Matt was directly facing the camera / microphone, while the other were facing sideways / away from it?

Debbie Williams

Crouching…. Never kneeling ….. That’s why Matt could always wear white or beige pants in the old Time Team shows 🤪

Sarah Knoll

Mystery solved! I always wondered about that too.

Doug Mackey

For us long-time (and rather completist) Time Team fans, it’s really quite emotional to see our “old friends” again—and enjoyable to become acquainted with new ones like Derek and Lawrence. Cheers to all!

Rita Baker

Adam has been doing this kinda photogrammetry work for a few years now, I took a master class with him a few years ago. He also has names for all his drones...

Jo Donaldson

Loving all of this content - so much more than I expected. Proud to be a tiny bit of this amazing story.

Peter Lee

Crouching Matt, Hidden Phil…..ooohhh aaarrr!

Anthony cotton

I think Derek and laurence have been brilliant and a great addition to the team, looking forward to some john gater content soon though

Zoe Propper

Absolutely loving these Q&A sessions it is amazing to see and hear parts of the dig we did not get to see before. There will be little imperfections, but they do not take away from the enjoyment for me and show that this is really behind the scenes. Thank you for also sorting the noise distortion from the wind. I think I may have found a good reading nook in that area as well 🤔

James Gossip

There were no deposits surviving on the overhead stones in the fogou.

2026-09-08 22:00 Please, a couple of gentle suggestions for our new presenters: 1) mic them up. There is a tendency to speak with what school teachers refer to as an “indoor” vs. an “outdoor” voice. In the day two spoils it was easier to hear some comments than others. 2) please don’t fast forward the walking sequences. It is very unsettling to watch.

Wonderful to see Matt on the dig , are you all going to make him drink beer and dig or make him break rocks or act like a Nun ?

Kathryn Phelps

Those tough canvas work pants are ideal and can be boil washed to get the muddy stains out. They just get lighter the longer they are worn.

Andrew Hingston

The problem is of course is that Derek and Lawrence are not the official Time Team presenters, who are experienced professionals with (one presumes) their own crew. The idea that we should have our own insight into what was going on around the site from a couple of experienced archaeologists was a good own but they were not properly equipped (as became very apparent the first day with wind noise) and yes, there are skills to doing a roaming fly on the wall presentation which don't apply to a normal podcast.

Andy H

Agreed. Please, please don't do any dressing up "experiments"

Andy H

Matt always comes across as a great guy. By the way, does anyone know what Phil feels about all this?

Dorothy Frank

Question - Time team theme song under copyright so you can't use it? Or have you decided to not use it for the new dig?

Mark Ziburis

Your two interviewers need to speak a bit louder, as they are not always audible. Questions were interesting and well answered.

Dallas Mathews

Was hoping i wasn't the only one feeling a bit of highetened emotions seeing my favorite archeological friends again! Everyone, so far, keeps saying things like it feels as though no time has passed and they are back at it just like old times. I'm sad Tony and Phil aren't participating in some capacity (possible guest appearances in the future?!!!) but I'm hopeful the new presenters will be engaging. I'm enjoying getting to know Derek and Lawrence! Time Team is back!!! ❤
