Charles Weager- Mynchin Buckland Preceptory.

This site took over an Austin Priory and had two establishments male and female. All that is a wall dated at 1180 part of the Chapel?, One establishnent is missing but I think I know where. No moat, there is a damaged fish pond. House, Georgian, has a weird Haha. Plenty of stonework around. My report is in the Somerset HER.

Charles Weager

John, are you looking for one or two establishments?

Stephanie Stewart

Fascinating, cannot wait for the filming and the patreon extras. Well done Stewart!

Steve Mikre

Greatly looking forward to this historical Time Team archeological dig...

James D Speckart

Great video-- these kinds of flowing conversations by smart people with different viewpoints are what makes Time Team so cool. Thanks!

A resource. Names and connections resource for geo mobility among medieval nobility Holy Land and EU, Crusades, kingdoms et al. Painful primary research, medieval name search geneology by geography and period sources. Non specific to Hospitaliers. Cyprus selected as Hospitaliers presence there. Have fun Helen. https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/CYPRUS.htm

Search your land owner and his relatives.

Stewart’s explanation was great. For those of us who are not from the UK, a run down of a site’s importance to history is very helpful to understand what is going on.

Robert Wise

I’m excited about this site as well! It’s never been dug? Wonderful! All possibilities exist!

the polish dude

You nailed the last site Stewart , I hope this turns out as well . I am very excited at what we might find and have a good feeling on this one. Thanks farmer Rich.

Nathan Lyons

I must admit that I was not excited at all by this site. But Stewart's enthusiasm has raised my level of interest just a bit.

Don Cook

A timely dig, to understand the relationship of business within Religion, within slaughter. Excellent choice, Stewart!

Janie Waters

HA! I've started watching the full 20 original seasons (again!) and landed on E03ep03 - Knights Templar (actually Preceptory) in Templecombe Somerset. Sync :)

LUCINDA DAVIS

It would be fantastic if you could get Dan Jones to come on as a special guest and talk about some of the historical background or help during the dig!

Fern Wilcox

Well done Stewart! This is going to be a fun one!

Eggs Ackley

Intriguing, crack on! Stewart can buy the first round🍺🍺🍺

I have been watching time team from the early shows growing up in New Zealand...and was so sad when it stopped. Then rediscovered you on YouTube...I am so glad you have harnessed us as fans to bring us more content. Thank you all.

JUDITH COOKE

Thanks Stewart, and Team for taking on this site. If it delivers as expected it should be spectacular. I am looking forward to learning a lot about a subject unfamiliar to me.

Rachel Platt

Fantastic! Looking forward to it!

Eelco Kruidenier

Very much looking forward to the excavations of this site. I can hardly wait for more news.

gary hipkiss

Looking forward to this one. Lincoln Crusaders SC are very much based on this time in history and we have Flown the templar flag at many Rallies and events. Learning a bit more would be very useful for future events.

Priscilla Logan

This sounds great, so looking forward to seeing and discovering more. Thanks Stuart

David Vickery

I enjoy these sessions and the excited anticipation they generate. It gives me a good feeling to be a supporter.

Great video and really looking forward to this dig - I have even made a 3d model of a Knight Hospitaller in anticipation! - it can be viewed on Sketchfab by clicking this link https://skfb.ly/owsDZ

Bruno

Whoever is playing the Mick role should wear a multicolored sweater during the course of the dig!

Donna Oglesby

Stewart is , and has always been awesome . He can finds just the smallest of things in the landscape that, most people just don't notice. He and John, no matter how much they tease one another, work very well together, cause they are both strong in their fields and together, he and John can find a lot. Helen is great, as is Naomi, in their fields as well, and bring a lot to the table during the digs. Paul and I are looking forward to both digs. Thank you all.

Might want to look for bees given honey's use in healing. This in 1300s religious establishments elsewhere, placed near the healer's herb garden. Often with a stream diverted within a fortified wall.

Levy

So-o-o anyone want to speculate as to which Preceptory it is? Some have been dug or are scheduled, which this does not seem to be. Mt. St. John's, I think has an unusual church, but I would think that site is well known.
