Join Derek and Lawrence for the first Site Walkabout of Time Team's current excavation in Norfolk.

As you'll have come to expect with Time Team, it has been an intense and at times emotional Day One for members of the team, with plenty of exciting avenues to explore over the next few days.

We have lots more still to come from today's adventures, so keep a look out right here on Patreon.

See you tomorrow!

Brilliant, but poor Helen .... fingers crossed for tomorrow, I'm sure that it will still be there.

Now I know Jackie can’t eat pizza because of her wheat allergy that is surely a sign she will answer my questions about DNA analysis. It would be rude not to help out a fellow sufferer of wheat intolerance, particularly one who is fascinated by the DNA analysis of ancient remains.

Christopher Samuel

A question for Jackie: is my memory right that on an early Time Team you were building a funeral pyre whilst wearing a New Model Army jumper? If so, what's your favourite song of theirs? :-) Welcome back!

Di

I have enjoyed all the updates thank you. The sound was greatly improved on this update.

Carole Foster

Cheer up, Helen❤️ We all love you! Regardless of what you find or don't find. We're just all glad to be joining you on this journey:-)

James D Speckart

Thanks for all the updates, and Gus's comments near the end are intriguing. I think it's usually good when the researchers get unsettled...

Jenna Tomlin

Lovely updates. So nice to see everyone on a site again.

Kay Theriault

Wondreful to see everyone together again! <3

Brian Shrum

"We know where it isn't." An underrated line and important phrase. ❤

Tom Gooden

Thanks for the update. Its all good 😊

💕Helen you are amazing. It’s so great to see how much Helen cares about this site and others like it and collecting all the info before these types of sites are destroyed. So much better than watching a completely sterile science scene. I can feel the sense of urgency these sites have attached to them as archaeologists try to beat the clock with limited funds before all the history is disturbed and lost.

Don Cook

The unstopped...and seemingly unstoppable casual destruction is becoming more and more prevalent--not just in the UK, but here, in the usa weremthere are not archeological/regulatory interactions, and sites are routinely destroyed, all so as not to offend the 1% bulldozing a thousand acres at a time....construction workers are under orders to not report ar cheological

Don Cook

sites, or fossils. It IS hideous.

Mac Whatley

OG Time Team was often framed through the POV of Tony's skepticism- he could be challenging and confrontational toward the "expert" opinions. Does anyone do that now? Is it actually necessary, or was it used then to inject a thread of drama into the results?

Boethiusconsol

Succinct and informative update. Great to have an update on where chemical analysis of burials is upto and what it can tell us about geographical origins of the community?

Roger Mills

For me it became increasingly tedious and I don't miss it at all.

Emma chamberlain

Thank you! Thank you! This was ace. Jackie we love you.. also knowing thatpaul is back, great! Dig watch is a great thing and really keeps us informed. Thank you Derek and Lawrence 👍 Good luck today!

Julie Gray

So nice to see how the team supports each other.

LouLi

The update is lovely! Thank you and good luck!

JUDITH COOKE

Wow, this was amazing. Well done everyone, you are fantastic. Frantic is good, loved the very loud “No Spoilers” 🙂 Quote of the day “ Norfolk is flat in quite a specific way”! 😮 More please! It’s Time Team, Helen, everything will come out right in the end. I hope you get some sleep tonight. Happy Birthday! Lovely to see more of the original Team back. Great job Tim, I am happy with anything in East Anglia.

Ann H

Presenting the hypothesis is pretty basic to legit science. Otherwise it's a treasure hunt with the downside of that.

Anja Adam

@Lawrence Belated Happy Birthday!!! Gratulerer med dagen som var!!! ...and a big hug for Helen. I really do understand your feelings.

William Rome

Thoroughly enjoyed the update. I could feel the excitement in the air. Those two guys do an excellent job of covering the dig. Perhaps they should have a role. in the main program. Their coverage has me really looking forward to watching the dig.

Jon Zephanius

I think it was necessary in the day when awareness and information was not readily available or widespread...less so now that they are now speaking mainly to us, Time Team devotees who already know what's going on. I have to say I enjoyed Tony "playing dumb" and representing the "everyman", but yes I can see how he might grate for some.

Irene Lowe

Jacquie is back! Yay!!

Janet Sutton

Great first day update. Welcome back, Jackie!

camakarma

Exactly! Me too! Great job everyone 🙌

Jon Colcord

I only wish that they had taken a moment with our new favorite ginger digger! Saw her back there! More Hilde!

Mika

These dig watches are improving, you can see that practice pays off! And, I think, the new microphones help.

Mark Lund

Dont need wheat for pizza...my partner, she's low carb, makes the base out of cheese, and something, I forget...think paleo I believe. (Not me, quite happy with normal base, but it is tastier with cheese instead, but not necessarily good for your arteries!)

Matthew Rice

Helen, Matt, Stewart and John! Great team! Sounds like Helen had a rough first day… enjoyed her shout out to Mick… can’t wait to see the episode!!

Doug Brower

It’s an incredible honor to have this behind-the-scenes look and to have had a very small part in making it happen. The episode will be a special one regardless of what is pulled out of the ground. What an exceptional group of friends and professionals.

Robert Wise

Thanks all. I enjoyed the walk across the field and the last minute encounters. Helen’s sense of connection is heartening, thank you for sharing that. Always good to see Matt again!

Patricia Amero

So, I want to know who ponied up and bought the birthday boy a brew? 🍻

Donna Holt

Sound quality is MUCH better!
